5-hour ENERGY® Running Man Chats – Extra Strength Orange is Here!

5-Hour Energy drink has a special blend that can give you a quick boost. This energy shot has great ingredients to help enhance your focus and alertness.

Lets have a look at the ingredients of the special blend:

  • Glucuronolactone

Among these ingredients, people know caffeine for its ability to give an energy boost. Additionally, its a stimulant that increases your brain and nervous system activities.

Do 5 Hour Energy Shots Have Sugar

5 Hour Energy Shots dont contain sugar and are sugar-free, but they do contain artificial sweeteners, namely sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

5 Hour Energy Shots are sugar-free, so they shouldnt have any negative impact on you from a dietary perspective which is a welcomed plus considering many energy drinks are high in sugar.

Besides that, you also dont have to worry about a sugar-induced crash after having a 5 Hour Energy Shot since none of its ingredients will actively raise your blood sugar level.

As for the drink itself causing an energy crash due to its ingredients, thats a discussion for further down the line.

While 5 Hour Energy Shots are free of sugar, they do contain artificial sweeteners, namely, the zero-calorie sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

Although I find it pretty strange that sweeteners are included in such a small serving of energy drink, it might just be there to counteract the bitterness of caffeine.

As zero-calorie sweeteners, both ingredients wont have a nutritional impact on your diet and, while theres still a lot we dont know about artificial sweeteners, they have been approved by the FDA.

Hence, as long as you dont overdo it on the 5 Hour energy shots, you should be perfectly fine from any potential side effects.

What Is The Right Amount Of Caffeine

Energy shots provide a high dose of energy in a short time span. They can be taken just about anywhere and are extremely easy to consume. However, the truth is that many of the energy shots on the market contain an incredibly high dose of Caffeine, which can sometimes do more harm than good.

As we mentioned previously, the recommended Caffeine dose for a healthy adult should not exceed 400mg in a given day. That said, here are some of the most popular energy shots and their Caffeine content:

  • 10-Hour Energy Shot: 422 mg of Caffeine

  • 5-Hour Energy Extra strength: 230 mg of Caffeine

  • Rockstar Energy Shot: 229 mg of Caffeine

  • Starbucks Triple Shot Energy: 225 mg of Caffeine

So, how much Caffeine is there in an energy shot, you ask? The answer is: it varies.

Every single energy drink manufacturer is different. They use their own mixed bag of ingredients to create a unique product that claims to boost energy. Some energy shots have as little as 50 mg of caffeine, whereas others have as much as 500 mg of Caffeine.

Everyone is different, so there is no one-size-fits-all kind of answer when it boils down to what the right amount of Caffeine is, but we do know that according to the FDA, 400 mg or less a day is considered safe.

How Much Is 200mg Of Caffeine

Thankfully, you dont have to worry too much about taking in a small to moderate amount of caffeine each day. Experts such as the March of Dimes and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists say its safe to have up to 200 mg a day. That is equal to approximately one or two 8 ounce cups of coffee.

so ive come to the conclusion that my body has grown accustomed to the level of caffeine that i supply it . which means, like with any drug, i have developed a tolerance to this low, one cup dose of caffeine. so i decided to *gasp* cheat on coffee a little. ive been tired for the past few weeks and was looking for something to give me that extra oomph in order to get excited about a boring job with virtually nothing to do. no, seriously. i get paid waaaay too much .so from the ridiculous plethora of energy drinks fighting for my attention and money, i decided on a concoction in a rather tiny package that made big promises .

i had seen commercials for five hour energy a lot, and decided to give it a try. the ingredients in it sounded beneficial , so at the very least i would get some nutrition from it. while i was reluctant to leave my beloved coffee for more than a few hours, i figured it was worth a try.

What Do The Ingredients In 5

Lets start with the B vitamins. Niacin is another name for Vitamin B3, and Folic Acid is another name for Vitamin B9, so youre looking at very high amounts of four different B vitamins in each 5-Hour Energy shot.

B vitamins help your body turn food into usable energy, so they are incredibly important. If youre severely deficient in B vitamins, you will indeed feel tired, because your body will have trouble executing the chemical reactions needed to turn carbs, fat and protein into energy. But B vitamin deficiencies are not common, especially if you eat a varied, well-balanced diet. If you have adequate levels of B vitamins, ingesting more of them wont further boost your energy levels. And even if you are deficient, simply taking a shot with a ton of B vitamins in it isnt going to magically make you feel energized. Addressing a significant vitamin deficiency takes time and consistent changes in your daily diet or supplementation.

While the extreme amounts of B vitamins found in 5-Hour Energy shots may be concerning at first glance, there seems to be little harm in consuming such amounts on an occasional basis . B vitamins are water-soluble, so the vast majority of B vitamins people ingest via a 5-Hour Energy shot are going to end up in the toilet.

That brings us to the energy blend found in each 5-Hour Energy Shot. It consists of citicoline, tyrosine, phenylalanine, taurine, malic acid, glucuronolactone and caffeine.

Tips For Best Caffeine Use

Drink Plenty of Water

Caffeine is a natural diuretic. A good rule of thumb is to drink a full 8oz glass of H2O with every energy drink to make sure your body stays hydrated. Dehydration causes many of the Caffeines negative side effects, namely fatigue and a lack of concentration. If you notice yourself getting tired after drinking something with Caffeine, reach for more water.

Eat Healthy Carbs

Along with water, healthy carbohydrates are a great form of natural energy for the body. While standard café fare pairs Caffeine with sweet pastries and starchy bagels, a better combination employs fresh fruits and vegetables. For a healthier morning, enjoy a banana or a bowl of baby carrots with your energy shot instead of something sweet and processed.

Remember To Get Sleep

Sleep has amazing restorative properties. While the power of energy shots can easily fuel all-nighters, long periods of sleep deprivation are bad for the body. Best practices dictate getting a few extra hours of sleep after a late night. The grogginess from extra or irregular sleep can be alleviated with a clean, natural source of energy like green tea.

Why Do I Need An Energy Drink

Many people struggle to make it through workouts when theyre tired. This can be especially true when youve had a long day and all you want to do is sit on the couch and watch TV.

Traditional store bought energy drinks and energy shots contain a lot of unnecessary ingredients. For example, a popular one lists these as their ingredients: Carbonated Water, Sucrose, Glucose, Citric Acid, Taurine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Magnesium Carbonate, Caffeine, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine HCI, Vitamin B12, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Colors.

A few years ago, I compared several popular energy drinks because my son was asking to drink them. I laid it all out so other parents could benefit from my research and what I found was that some of these energy drinks contain as much caffeine as three cans of Coke. The sugar content was less but a lot of these products contain artificial sweeteners instead of sugar, so Im not convinced thats a win.

When youre consuming that much caffeine, your body crashes when it starts to leave your system. Making your own sports drink or homemade energy drink with a small amount of caffeine allows your body to benefit from the extra energy without the crash afterward.

Can I Drink Coffee After Energy Drink

It isnt likely to hurt you if you mix your coffee with an energy drink. This may even cut down on the length of time you spend writing those papers. Please keep in mind, however: Caffeine is an illicit drug. You may have swallowed all of your caffeine by now, but you might have had a dependency and an addiction.

Do 5 Hour Energy Shots Really Work

In terms of keeping you awake, 5 Hour Energy does exactly that by mainlining caffeine into your system in a short amount of time, giving you that boost you need as quickly as possible.

Essentially, 5 Hour Energy Shots work through caffeine, a pretty handy stimulant that blocks the adenosine receptors in your brain and prevents the onset of fatigue from setting in.

Caffeine does a lot of great stuff, from improving psychomotor performance to preventing you from falling asleep in the middle of a lecture, so its no surprise why coffee and energy drinks are as popular as they are.

So, 5 Hour Energy Shots do work, although I personally dont think shotgunning that much caffeine in mere seconds would do your nerves any favors.

But, if you need an immediate boost, 5 Hour Energy Shots will definitely give you the energy you desire.

Is Red Bull Better Than 5 Hour Energy

Itll give you wings, but is Red Bull the better choice?

Between Red Bull and 5 Hour Energy, it depends on what youre looking for. If you want to have an energy drink casually, Red Bulls for you, and if you need energy fast and dont care much about taste, 5 Hour Energy is probably your pick.

The biggest difference between Red Bull and 5 Hour Energy is that Red Bull happens to be a casual drink and has a somewhat decent taste in comparison, which makes it a lot more enjoyable to drink.

On the other hand, Red Bull also contains more calories due to its sugar content, which is pretty bad from a nutritional perspective.

5 Hour Energy does beat out Red Bull by its sheer ability to deliver caffeine quickly, but thats a double-edged sword considering not everyone wants that amount of caffeine in a short period.

In any case, its up to you to decide which energy drink is better for you, and if you need some way to find out which energy drink is the best option, I have an article written on that as well.

Are 5 Hour Energy Shots Bad For You

As long as you have them in moderation and only when you need to, 5 Hour Energy Shots will give you the boost you need with minimal side effects, and wont have any serious health consequences.

That said, if you happen to be caffeine-sensitive, I would suggest staying away from 5 Hour Energy Shots as they deliver a large amount of caffeine to your system fairly quickly.

Besides that, metabolizing 200mg of caffeine in a short period of time also means the effects are more likely to wear off sooner, as compared to having a constant intake of a regular energy drink.

There are also some reports of 5 Hour Energy causing symptoms of crashes, most likely due to the caffeine leaving the system.

So whilst youre free from sugar crashes, 5 Hour Energy apparently does cause some strain a few hours after having the drink, not from a sugar crash but a caffeine crash.

Apart from that, exceeding two shots of 5 Hour Energy day is a pretty bad idea, and so is mixing the drink with other caffeinated beverages such as coffee, as doing so would definitely risk a caffeine overdose.

So, my advice is to know your limits and be sure to watch your caffeine intake so that you dont end up jittery throughout the day.

What Would Happen If You Were To Drink Five 5

Raise Positive Energy, Awaken Your Hidden Potential, Increase Mental Strength

1 June 18

A standard cup of coffee contains around 100 milligrams of caffeine a Red Bull has 80 mg. But according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, one caffeinated beverage manages to pack around 200 mg of caffeine into less than 2 fluid ounces : 5-hour Energy.

So, what would happen if you were to drink five 5-hour Energy shots at once? Would you gain 25 hours of energy? Or would the consequences be more severe?

The answer to what would happen is, nothing good, said Kathleen Miller, an energy-drink specialist at the University at Buffalo Research Institute on Addictions. Five bottles of 5-hour Energy contain about 1,000 mg of caffeine the equivalent of the caffeine in 10 cups of coffee.

Caffeine can be a great thing, at low doses, Miller told Live Science. With the consumption of five 5-hour Energy drinks, however, you move past alert and awake, into the territory of jittery, anxious and .

True caffeine intoxication doesnt kick in, however, until you reach even higher doses: 5,000 mg of caffeine, or the amount in 50 cups of coffee and 25 5-hour Energy drinks. At these levels, a person will experience the more life-threatening effects of caffeine, including seizures, strokes hallucinations, Miller said. And yes, caffeine can be deadly at these extreme doses, she added.

Excessive caffeine consumption is also especially dangerous for children and teenagers with low body mass, Miller said.

How Many Calories Are In 5 Hour Energy

Each shot of 5 Hour Energy contains just 4 calories, which is only a minuscule amount towards your total daily calorie intake.

Compared to other popular energy drinks like Red Bull and Monster, 5 Hour Energy is light on the calories, with only a tiny fraction of the calories from most energy drinks in each shot.

As a guide, the daily calorie limit recommended for healthy adults is between 2000 to 2400 calories for women and 2400 to 3000 calories for men.

In other words, having a shot of 5 Hour Energy wont affect your overall daily diet. That should spare you the worry of 5 Hour Energy disrupting your calorie count.

However, its important to remember that 5 Hour Energy isnt a beverage youll want to have on a daily basis since its very high in caffeine. Ill cover that in more detail in the sections below.

If you still feel that 4 calories are too much, you can check out the best zero-calorie energy drinks article I wrote for some great recommendations.

What You Really Need To Know About The Safety Of 5

Are those tiny 5-Hour Energy shots dangerous?

Should you worry about drinking too much Monster Energy — or any other energy drink for that matter?

These are the questions on our minds this week following another U.S. Food and Drug Administration missive on deaths and hospitalizations as reported by energy drink manufacturers. Those specifically cited in this week’s report include Monster and Rockstar energy drinks as well as 5-hour Energy “shots” that are ubiquitous throughout US convenience stores and pharmacies.

NEW! – FDA Weaponizes ‘Opioid’ Term Against Kratom Consumers

These 5-hour Energy products are no stranger to Forbes: Staff Writer Clare O’Connor had this article and sidebar in the February 27, 2012 issue of the magazine. O’Connor reported that 5-hour Energy accounts for a whopping 90% of the national energy shot market.

So, exactly how dangerous are these drinks and energy shots?

The main number being batted around — beginning with The New York Timesarticle by Barry Meier — is that 5-hour Energy has been cited in reports of 13 deaths that is, 13 people who died had ingested 5-hour Energy drink at some time prior to their passing. The first death was reported on December 17, 2009.

But a close analysis of the report itself leads me to conclude that two of those deaths were reported twice, lowering the number to a still-disturbing 11.

What’s in these drinks?

I’m a coffee drinker. Is that a lot of caffeine?

So what’s the bottom line?
