London Fog Latte With Oat Milk

A Better Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso With Oat Milk

London fog tea is Starbucks option for a traditional Earl Gray style tea. Many people like to add milk to their tea for a creamier experience.

Starbucks takes this treat up a notch by using steamed oat milk and vanilla syrup in the tea. Oat milk adds a bit of smoothness to the tea which gives you flavors of bergamot, orange, and lavender.

I Tried Starbucks’s New Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso And It’s Worth The Hype

Starbucks released its newest cold coffee beverage, the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, earlier this month, which immediately had coffee-lovers talking. The general consensus? It’s the best thing the chain has released since the Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew. I mean, I’m not really surprised, are you? Starbucks is known for constantly reinventing the wheel of caffeinated iced drinks, and even when I placed my order, the barista said, “Good choice but fair warning, this drink is very easy to get addicted to.” Now consider this my warning to you.

The drink is a new addition to Starbuck’s permanent nationwide menu and features Oatly’s plant-based oat milk, a nondairy milk alternative. I paid a visit to my local Starbucks to see what all the fuss is about and whether it’s worth the almost six bucks.

How To Make Brown Sugar Syrup

Simple syrup is easily made at home by mixing a 1:1 ratio of hot water to sugar so that the sugar dissolves into beverages. The syrup is frequently used in cocktails and iced coffees instead of plain granulated sugar, which results in a grainy texture. The liquid form of sugar blends better to sweeten drinks!

To make the brown sugar syrup, its the same case of equal amounts of brown sugar and water, which is then infused with cinnamon. Its simmered until the syrup thickens and almost tastes like caramel.

You can use a cinnamon stick instead of ground cinnamon, but the longer you leave it the stronger the flavor will be.

Starbucks Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

The recipe here is the copycat method recommended on the Starbucks website. However, Ive also made this with Brown Sugar Syrup and its delicious that way too.

You can use light or dark brown sugar in this recipe. Dark brown sugar will provide a richer caramel flavor compared to light brown.

When first trying this drink, I found it easiest to adjust the level of sweetness when using the syrup. The amount below is perfect for me though and its the simpler recipe I chose to use for everyday iced coffees.

How to Make Brown Sugar Syrup

To make Brown Sugar Syrup, youll simply combine equal parts brown sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup thickens slightly.

This should only take a few minutes. Allow the syrup to cool and pour the syrup into an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

If you dont have time or arent interested in making a homemade Brown Sugar Simple Syrup , you have two options.

    • Granulated Brown Sugar Simply add an additional 1/2 tablespoon of granulated sugar than what the recipe calls for and dissolve it in the espresso before adding ice and shaking.
    • Buy It Did you know you can buy Starbucks syrups? Or at least you were always able to when I worked there in college. Simply ask your barista if you can buy a bottle of it the next time youre there. I think they usually cost around $15 so its much cheaper to make it at home, but I totally get it if you dont want to. Once opened, the bottle of syrup is good for 30 days and its a HUGE bottle.

Summer Drinks At Starbucks: Shaken Espresso

Summer is the season for Starbucks signature shaken espresso drink. These drinks contain fewer calories than dairy drinks made with hot espresso, sugar or simple syrup, and ice. Shaken espresso is defined as the method of rapidly cooling and diluted espresso when shaken with ice. Furthermore, the drink is less calorific, preserving the espressos strong flavor. Caffeine is present in shaken espresso drinks because the ingredients include ice, oat milk, brewed espresso, and toasted vanilla-flavored syrup. If youre trying to stay within the caffeine limit in your daily diet, a shaken espresso is a good choice.

    The Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

The next key flavor in this iced coffee comes from the brown sugar simple syrup. You make it from equal parts water and brown sugar aka simple syrup.

One cup of each will yield enough simple syrup to make 12 grande Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso.

Bring the water to a boil, add the brown sugar, whisk to combine, return to a boil to dissolve sugar, then remove from the heat and allow to cool.

The Reviews Club: Starbucks Iced Brown Sugar Oat Shaken Espresso

Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Starbucks has released a new menu item that officially goes on sale next week .

The Iced Brown Sugar Oat Shaken Espresso is quite a mouthful but if you follow many American accounts online you may have heard of it before.

I love using brown sugar when I’m baking so I had really high hopes for this drink.

But I was not left particularly impressed.

The drink comes to you very foamy but that doesn’t last long and at almost £4 for the drink, you are wondering where the rest of it is.

With mine, the syrup was all sunk to the bottom which made it very bitter on first taste.

This is easily solved with mixing it yourself with a straw – I just think that if a drink is shaken then you wouldn’t expect to then have to mix it again.

The oat milk itself was fine but then there’s an overpowering flavour of marzipan.

I think for people who really like marzipan, they’ll be in for a treat.

What Kind Of Coffee Should I Use

The Starbucks recipe for this drink uses Blonde espresso. Blonde is a lighter roasted espresso bean that is very approachable. It adds a soft coffee flavor to the drink without being overwhelming.

I like a stronger coffee, so I use the Starbucks dark roast espresso instead.

Fun fact! Blonde espresso is roasted for less time than the dark roast, which results in less caffeine being cooked off. It has slightly more caffeine than its dark roast sibling.

Don’t have an espresso machine? No problem! You can substitute double-strength brewed coffee. I have also tested this recipe with cold brew concentrate and it is delicious!

No matter the type of coffee you use, you will add 3 ounces to the drink.

I Tried The Starbucks Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso And Heres What It Tastes Like

Starbucks released the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso in the spring of 2021. Priced at $5.45, this drink offers a splash of brown sugar to your everyday espresso.

Olivia Figg, LCTV StaffMay 25, 2021

Starbucks recently released their new espresso drink in United States locations. I wanted to see how this drink relates to other Espressos or coffee drinks I have tried. Espresso drinks are popular because of the amount of caffeine it has to keep you going. They are now a staple among many coffee shops. This Brown Sugar Espresso also contains no dairy which provides variety to allow customers with all needs to enjoy.

When I received my drink you could instantly smell the brown sugar and coffee mixture. It smelled very delightful and I couldnt wait to try my first sip. There was some foam at the top and since it was shaken, everything seemed pretty evenly mixed. Upon the first sip, it was delicious. I loved the touch of oat milk because even that had a flavor. One thing I would critique was that there was a lot of foam at the top which caused you to not get the full flavor experience until a little farther down the road.

The price of the drink, $5.45, I think is a little pricey compared to all the other drinks Starbucks has to offer but I overall think it was worth it because of the taste. This drink is served all day, but they often run out because of its popularity. I would recommend this drink to anyone because I think it was made to perfection.
