If the water filter is dirty or clogged, the water will not flow through the coffee maker properly.

What Are The Components Of A Bunn Coffee Maker

A Bunn coffee maker is a coffee brewing machine that is popular in both commercial and residential settings. The company has been making coffee makers since 1957, and their products are known for their quality and durability. There are several different types of Bunn coffee makers available on the market, but they all have the same basic components. These include a water reservoir, a heating element, a filter basket, and a coffee pot.

The water reservoir is where the water for brewing the coffee is stored. It is typically located at the back of the machine. The heating element heats the water to the correct temperature for brewing. The filter basket holds the coffee grounds during brewing. The coffee pot is where the brewed coffee is collected.

Bunn coffee makers are simple to use and easy to clean. They are also very affordable, which makes them a great option for those on a budget. If you are looking for a quality coffee maker that will last for years, then a Bunn coffee maker is a good choice.

Most Of The Time Your Ears Dont Need Any Extra Cleaning

The best Method to Clean Your Coffee Maker The Simplest Way « Bunn ...

Most of the time, your ears dont need any extra cleaning. Your ears have their own built-in cleaning system. Glands in your outer ear make ear wax, which helps trap dust and dirt before it can get inside your ear canal.

Earwax is a natural substance that lubricates the skin and protects it from bacteria and germs that can enter through the ear canal. It also has antibacterial properties. The wax itself contains tiny hairs that capture dirt and other particles as they are drawn out of the ear canal by its movement during chewing, talking or swallowing.

The only time you should clean your ears is if you experience excess wax buildup in them or if you have had an ear infection or swimmers ear. Otherwise, leave well enough alone.

Fill The Water Reservoir With Descaling Solution

Fill the water tank with your preferred descaling solution. If you’re using a commercial cleaning solution, such as Tabz, follow the manufacturer’s guide to clean your Bunn coffee maker. Place the tablet in the brew basket, and run a cycle to clean the basket and the Bunn coffee pot. Rinse out the parts afterwards to remove coffee stains.

However, a DIY descaling solution works to clean your entire Bunn coffee maker from the inside. An acidic solution will remove the mineral deposits and grime build up from the water pipes, and clean the basket, spray head, and coffee pot at the same time.

Fill the water reservoir with equal parts water and white vinegar or lemon juice, and 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda. The vinegar will kill mold and dissolve hardened mineral buildup, while baking soda will act as a scrubber to clean the inside of your coffee maker.

Can You Descale A Bunn Coffee Maker With Vinegar

If you look in your user manual, you will see that Bunns descaling instructions use vinegar. If you have some around and you are comfortable with that, go for it. Other manufacturers will advise against using vinegar. White vinegar contains 5-8% acetic acid and apple cider vinegar has 5-6%. This type of acid can wear down metal and cause leaks. Vinegar is also less effective than other cleaners at removing oils left by used coffee beans. Plus, it may leave a lingering taste or odor which may make your drink unpleasant.

Instead, I think the best way to clean your Bunn is with one of the below cleaners. They have safe and effective types of acids and they are odorless too and wont impact the taste of your coffee.

Draining The Unit And Cleaning The Reservoir

Drain all the water from the unit. To do this remove the top/lid of the machine by grabbing the edge of it in one place with your fingernails and lift. After this lid is started it will come right off. Don’t be rough with it but don’t be afraid to pull a bit. It comes off pretty easy. Now remove the white rocker valve arm from its mount. This should lift straight up. Now flip the machine upside down and let it drain. The draining will take about 5 minutes as it glugs and has no inlet for air when flipped over. While the unit is draining clean the top lid and the valve arm. Make sure that the seal on the arm is clean and free of build up.

Once drained clean out the bottom of the reservoir. This stuff should come off pretty easy. Once you have it clean you can follow up with the spudger to pick off the hard to remove stuff.

Chances are real high that yours will look as nasty as mine when you have it open.

Here is where colored electrical tape or a zip tie is helpful to mark polarity of the hot plate element and other items later in the dis-assembly. Once you have these mark you can cut them to free the bottom of the unit. I have no idea what the result would be if the hotplate was hooked up backwards.

Q: My Bunn Coffee Maker Is Leaking Water Out Of The Bottom

A: This issue can have a few different causes. Run your machine on high for 5 seconds to see if water begins to fill up base. If it does, theres either a crack in the base or seal between carafe and base. Remove carafe from unit and check both for cracks. In order to resolve this issue, you may need to replace one or both parts depending on the severity of the damage done.

Deep Clean A Bunn Coffee Maker With Vinegar

If you own one of these BUNN Speed Brew coffee makers you should be giving it a good deep cleaning at least every three months to get rid of mineral deposits. Im going to show you how to do that.

The items youll need are vinegar, dish soap, and a toothpick. Now to start youre going to take four cups of vinegar which I have pre-measured here and pour them into the top. There are two cups, this is also equivalent to one quart. Go ahead and pour your vinegar into the top, make sure this is in place and close the top.

Empty your carafe you can turn off your machine of course you can turn it off while its brewing and then unplug it.

Basically what youve done is you have poured vinegar into your brewer which has gone down into your water tank and the water that was in there has been pushed out and thats what we just flushed.

So now youre going to have vinegar sitting in your water tank and its going to work its magic. So you wait for two hours.

Okay, now that your two hours are up youre going to want to remove your spray head. The reason you dont want to do this earlier is that this spray head will be hot. And then you can look inside and see if you have any mineral deposits in there, thats where your toothpick would come in handy you could go in there and poke at it. Ill insert a picture here.

Thats okay just go ahead and dump them out. So you go ahead and empty this out.

How To Clean A French Press

How to Clean My Bunn Coffee Maker

Some people prefer the simplicity of a manual French press, but its design creates challenges when it comes to how to clean a coffee maker.

    • Use a rubber spatula to scrape the spent coffee grounds out of the carafe of the French press. Alternately, you can fill the carafe with water and swirl to loosen the grounds, then pour the water into a fine sieve. This prevents the grounds from falling down the drain.
    • Discard the used grounds or save them forcomposting.
    • Fill the carafe three-quarters of the way with warm water. Add a teaspoon of mild dish soap.
    • Insert the plunger lid and use the press top to move the plunger up and down rapidly in the carafe three or four times.
    • Empty the carafe and rinse it and the plunger well.
    • Dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
    • Reassemble the coffee maker.

For deep cleaning, unscrew and disassemble the components of the plunger including the filter screens and disks.

    • Wash all the pieces in warm water with mild dish soap you may need to lightly scrub the screens to remove old grounds.
    • Rinse all the pieces well and allow to air dry.
    • Reassemble the French press.

Tip: Don’t discard spent grounds down the kitchen drain as this can contribute heavily to clogging the drain.
