Using Bulletproof As A Meal Replacement

4 KETO COFFEE RECIPES | How To Make Bulletproof Coffee & MORE!

While those who already skip breakfast may benefit from bulletproof coffee as a meal replacement, filling in when no other nutrients are ingested, it should not be used as a replacement for an existing breakfast.

You still need protein, and you need the vitamins that are not available in the bulletproof coffee. This is a supplement, and if you use it as a meal replacement , youll likely be ingesting too much fat .

A Slightly More Involved Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

If you tried the simple recipe and are ready to take your bulletproof coffee to the next level, this recipe is a nice variation that still doesnt stray too far from the core principles. You will need some less common ingredients, so make sure you have everything before you start.

  • 1 cup of black coffee
  • ½ tablespoon butter

The Best Keto Butter Coffee With Mct Oil And Collagen

Most keto coffee recipes use a combination of only butter and MCT oil. The traditional bulletproof coffee uses a tablespoon of each, though you could do it with even more of one or the other.

Normal bulletproof coffee tastes great , but sometimes I want a version that is a little lighter. Even on a low carb diet, I dont really want to have my coffee be too heavy or calorie dense. Id rather save that for actual food!

The version of keto coffee with butter that Ive been drinking for over a year is the best of both worlds. It still has the benefits that bulletproof coffee has. That is, its creamy, delicious, appetite suppressing, and energy boosting in my experience, anyway. At the same time, its lighter and provides some protein.

So, how do we accomplish this balance? The first part is using a little less butter and MCT oil. Just a teaspoon each tends to be enough, though you can add more if you like. Sometimes I do a 1/2 tablespoon of each.

Then, including unsweetened almond milk and optional collagen gives a protein boost, not to mention the collagens benefits for hair, skin and joints. See my full article about collagen benefits here for sources and more details.

Both the almond milk and collagen add to the creaminess and create more frothing at the top, too. Win-win!

So, if youre following a keto diet, I hope youll try my bulletproof coffee recipe soon!

Every era has a beverage that seemingly springs from nowhere and becomes a sensation for a short time. Eventually, all of those beverages become just another drink or the answer to a trivia question.

The most recent fad? Bulletproof coffee.

When you think about it, no one could have imagined that a mix of vodka, gin, tequila, rum, triple sec and coke would become one of the hottest drinks of the 70s.

And until recently, it would have been just as crazy to think that mixing black coffee, butter and a virtually-unknown oil would create a beverage that would be touted by celebrities ranging from Halle Berry and Ed Sheeran, to Jeremy Piven and Jimmy Fallon.

So whats the reason for the buzz surrounding bulletproof coffee? And why is it such a big deal for those who follow the keto diet?

If youre making the pumpkin creamer: Add pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice.

If you are making chocolate creamer: Sift cocoa powder over the pan, then whisk in.

Heat briefly, just until smooth.

TIP: Exact amount you get from this keto coffee creamer recipe will vary depending on how much you reduce the condensed milk. If you reduce the condensed milk too much, add more almond milk and heavy cream at the end to get it to the desired consistency.

  • Add extracts. If using any of the liquid extracts, stir them in here.

How To Make Bulletproof Coffee | We Share Our Bulletproof Coffee Recipe | Keto Morning Kickstart!

If youre already a fan of coffee, then youre really going to love this recipe for keto coffee, also known as butter coffee. What if youve never had coffee before? Well, this just may be the cup that makes you a fan. Honestly, its one of my favorite keto recipes.

In moderation, high-quality organic coffee can definitely have its proven coffee health benefits. This recipe takes coffee to another level, a much healthier level in my opinion. Instead of just mainly getting a punch of eye-opening caffeine with a solid dose of antioxidants, this recipe adds in nutritional powerhouse ingredients like grass-fed butter and collagen powder made from bone broth to give you a sustainable boost of energy that doesnt leave you falling flat a few hours later.

You may have already heard of the keto diet. Maybe youre even following it at this very moment. One of the central aspects of this intriguing diet, which was originally developed for epilepsy patients in the 1920s, is that it contains a very low amount of carbohydrates and a high amount of fats. In addition to possibly helping followers shed unwanted pounds, a ketogenic diet has even been shown in scientific research to be help combat cancer as well as other serious chronic health issues.

My Verdict On Bulletproof Coffee

Ive tried butter coffee a few times, and sometimes just add a teaspoon of coconut oil to my black filter coffee. I find it does give a more gentle, even caffeine release without the usual coffee jitters. It is also really satiating, and you might find you are not hungry for several hours after having a cup.

Many people take bulletproof coffee instead of their breakfast or to replace one of their meals, and although I think that its a handy alternative fuel source that can be used for convenience during a busy day or during intermittent fasting, I dont think it should replace a regular high-protein, satiating breakfast as youd be missing out on an array of essential nutrients found in real, whole foods.

Do you drink bulletproof coffee or have you ever tried it? What do you think did you notice any of the benefits? What do you add to pimp your butter coffee? Let me know in the comments below. In the meantime, here is a recipe for homemade bulletproof coffee with coconut oil and butter or ghee .
