Can You Store Leftover Iced Coffee In The Fridge

Iced Coffee At Home Recipe | Easy and Affordable DIY Iced Coffee Using French Press

Yes and no. This really depends on how much of a coffee snob you are to be honest. If you’re used to a fresh brew, storing any leftovers in the fridge may not be a good idea. Cold brew typically lasts 2-3 days in the fridge if you’ve covered it properly the flavours will last a bit longer because it’s brewed cold.

However, drip coffee that has been chilled has a shorter shelf life before the robust coffee flavour starts to disappear and become stale. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it for more than 24 hours. However, there will be nothing inherently wrong with the coffee other than the taste so feel free to go ahead and judge by your taste buds.

Tips For Making Better Iced Coffee

  • Invest in better-quality coffee just for iced coffee. If its an occasional treat, its worth splurging on café-quality flavor and aroma.
  • Adjust coffee, milk and creamer ratios to find the best combination. Some people say theyve begun using less milk and creamer so they can taste the coffees finer notes.
  • Boil or purify water before making ice cubes and coffee. This is said to improve the waters overall quality and help the coffee flavor become more prominent.

What Type Of Ice Is Best For Iced Coffee

I know this may not seem important but choosing the right ice for your iced coffee is key! Here are your options:

  • Crushed ice this is what you see in this recipe. Because I had a ton of coffee to make I picked up a big bag of crushed ice and used it liberally. This is typically what I use for iced coffee
  • Medium-sized ice cubes this is usually what people have on hand in their freezer and I say go for it!
  • Large ice I like to use larger blocks of ice if I’m going to enjoy my iced coffee outside. They are slower to melt this way!

Ninja Coffee Bar Method

This post has been updated a few times, and after I first wrote it a few years ago, I got a Ninja Coffee Bar. And it’s pretty much my favorite thing ever!

This system has a special function that lets you brew a single cup of coffee directly over ice … without watering it down. It works perfectly every time, takes minutes to make, and I absolutely love it.

I’ve also used my Ninja to make specialty espresso-style drinks like affogato and lattes. The best thing about it though, is that you can make everything from full pots of coffee to single cups … all without wasteful pods!

How to make delicious cold

1. Start with Quality Coffee Beans

The better the beans, the better the coffee, right? We love using our H.C. Valentine Royal 150 Blend — its apricot, chocolate, and caramel notes are perfect in an iced coffee!

2. Make Coffee Ice Cubes

Freeze leftover coffee into an ice cube tray, and pop ’em into your iced coffee the next morning. The best part? When they melt, they add flavor to your brew instead of diluting it. If you really want to get creative, you can drizzle some chocolate or sprinkle a little cinnamon into your ice cubes before freezing them.

3. Flavor Your Iced Coffee Like a Barista

No need to spend a ton of money — here’s how to make your own coffee creamers and flavored syrups.

4. Make a Big Batch

There are several ways to make iced coffee at home, but the most simple way is to brew a pot of coffee in your coffee maker, and stick it in a temperature-safe container in your refrigerator until it’s cold.

If you’re really short on time, you can “double brew”, or add double the amount of coffee grounds you normally use . It won’t taste diluted when you pour it over ice because the coffee is super concentrated.

5. Experiment with Cold Brew

There are differences between iced coffee and cold brew , but cold brew can still be poured over ice and mixed with milk. Here’s how to make cold brew coffee at home in your French press.

My Iced Coffee Recipies Are Now Yours

I have a confession to make I am addicted to iced coffee. Ive had it all iced coffees, cold-brewed and frozen coffees served every way imaginable spending thousands per year on my delicious caffeinated drinks at my favorite coffee shop.

Did I mention I was spending a ton of money? It started to really add up, and I was not interested in leaving my coffeehobby behind. My only option was to figure out how to make iced coffees myself.

I then started a journey to compile + test all iced coffee recipes I could get my hands on. My goal was to simply find the best of the best iced coffee recipes. This website is the result of that journey. I now freely share my hard yet delicious work so everyone can make their own coffee drinks that taste better than the big chains and coffee shops, at a fraction of the cost. Enjoy!

Tools For Making Cold Brew

It took me some time to find the best containers to make my cold brew. I like to use wide mouth mason jars because they are easy to pour from when its time to strain the coffee. You can also put the lid on and gently shake the jar to mix the water and coffee grounds together.

You can fit 3 cups of water in a quart size mason jar, which is perfect for steeping 3/4 cup of ground coffee beans. I usually make double that amount, using two mason jars.

Some of the water will be absorbed by the coffee grounds, so 3 cups of water and 3/4 cup of coffee yields me about 2 cups of coffee concentrate. Remember, youll probably want to dilute your coffee concentrate with some water when you serve it.

Another good option is to combine the coffee and water in a large French press or large liquid measuring cup, since both have a spout for pouring.

Starbucks iced coffee, who?

The hashtag #icedcoffee has over 1.7 billion views on TikTok. And with summer well on its way, more and more of us will be eagerly searching for the best ways to make a glass of the stuff, pronto.

With that in mind, we asked coffee expert and Modern Standard Coffee founder, Lynsey Harley, how to make the best iced coffee, ever!

How Do You Make Iced Coffee?

It’s easy, really. All you need is a tall glass filled with ice, brewed coffee and some vanilla syrup . Mix it all up and there you have it! A decadent glass of homemade, no-fuss iced coffee.

If you really feel like pushing the boat out, you could make it using a shaker. Chuck all your ingredients in and shake, like a cocktail. Think of it like a non-alcoholic espresso martini!

Whats The Difference Between Iced Coffee And Cold Brew?

Iced coffee is, well, icedcoffee. It’s as simple as serving regularly brewed coffee over a glass full of ice. But if you want to get a little more technical, Lynsey says, Iced coffee is made with espresso thats brewed for around 25 seconds.

Cold brew is a little less straightforward and requires a lot more time. Rather than simply serving regularly brewed coffee over ice, cold brew involves leaving course ground coffee steeped in cold water for a minimum of 12 hours.

The longer the coffee sits, the stronger the flavour.

Lynsey describes cold brew, as a concentrate, that you dilute with whatever you want milk, water or tonic.

Iced Flat White Calorie Table

You can use this table to calculate the number of calories that are in this iced coffee. As you can see from the recipe, Ive used whole milk.

You can switch it up however you like, so Ive listed a few of the most commonly used kinds of milk and milk alternatives:

Milk or milk alternative used: Number of calories:
Oat milk 130 calories

Additionally, you can also add some sugar to your iced coffee. Ive listed how many calories youll have to account for when doing so below:

  • Adding one tablespoon or 13 grams of sugar to your iced coffee will add 48 extra calories to your coffee.

How To Strain Cold Brew

The last step is to strain the mixture to remove the coffee grounds. Place a fine mesh strainer over a large batter bowl, liquid measuring cup or bowl. Its easiest if you strain the coffee into a container that is easy to pour from so that you can then transfer it to a storage container. I strain my coffee into this batter bowl.

To catch the coffee grounds, line the strainer with cheesecloth or place a nut milk bag inside. I prefer to use a nut milk bag because its inexpensive and I can rinse it out and reuse it again and again. If you fold the top of the bag over its easy to get the coffee grounds out and rinse the bag clean.

Making Your Own Delicious Iced Coffee at Home

Once the coffee is brewed, the next step is to pour it over ice in the glass. However, theres quite a heated debate as to whenexactly that should be.

Some people prefer pouring freshly-brewed hot coffee over ice because they feel its more flavorful. If aroma plays a significant role in your iced coffee experience, individuals in this school of thought also indicate that aroma dissipates if you let the coffee cool down.

Other people shy away from this method, stating that flavor is lost and diluted when hot coffee is poured over ice, causing it to melt. Instead, they recommend letting the coffee chill to at least room temperature before pouring.

If youre wondering which way is better, we recommend trying both ways to see which one you prefer.

Making Iced Flat White With Almond Milk

If you want to switch things up and use a milk alternative like almond milk or any other milk alternatives, feel free to do so.

To make this recipe, follow the same steps that Ive mentioned in the recipe above. The only difference is using an alternative to whole milk.

The total calories of the coffee drink will change depending on the milk or milk alternative used. I used whole milk for this recipe, and the coffee contains 149 calories, which is quite a lot.

However, if you want to know how many calories will be in your coffee drink when making it, check out the table below.
