He sets up the weighed ice in the vessel under the pourover filter, then starts with the first 65 grams of water and a quick stir, waiting 45 seconds to let the bed of coffee get saturated, then adds 80 grams more, then the last 115 grams. The ice that chills the brew will also dilute it to its proper strength. The whole process takes about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. How To Make Japanese
Want high-quality iced coffee in minutes? This method makes it happen by brewing coffee right over the ice. I make mine even simpler by placing a pour-over cone right over a big mason jar. Just add cream, plop in a straw, and morning’s made!
Provided by Kare for Kitchen Treaty
1/4 cup/1 oz./30 g. ground coffee beans
1 cup/8 oz./230 g. ice cubes
1 cup/8 oz./230 g. water
Measuring cups or a kitchen scale*
A pour-over cone
A coffee filter that fits the pour-over cone or carafe
A 16-ounce or larger mason jar
Tea kettle – preferably a goose-neck shape made for pour-over brewing
- Fill the mason jar or carafe with the 2 cups/8 oz./230 g. ice.
- Set a filter in the brewer, set it over the mason jar for brewing, and add the coffee grounds.
- Bring the water to a boil. Slowly pour just a bit of the water over the grounds – just enough to cause the coffee to expand . Once all of that water has dripped through, slowly pour about half of the remaining water over the top. When that has finished dripping through, slowly pour the remaining water over the top. Let drain completely.
- If using a mason jar, remove the drip brewer. If using a carafe, remove the filter and grounds then pour into a glass. Add ice, cream, and/or sugar if desired. Add additional ice, cream, and/or sugar if desired and stir. Serve immediately.

How You Made Iced Coffee
Iced coffee doesnt last as long as you might think. It isnt the same as cold brew coffee as it has one key difference . Iced coffee is, in fact, made with hot water. As a result, the coffee compounds are activated and start to degrade as soon as they touch the hot water. This degradation will make iced coffee unpleasant .
Coffee grounds, due to their surface area, are particularly great breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. You may notice that wet coffee grounds go moldy really quickly. When you also consider that while your coffee started off hot, as it cooled, it went through the danger zone where it was just cool enough for bacteria to begin to breed. If you drank it right away, this isnt a problem, but leaving those bacteria to multiply over time is not a good thing.
This effect is magnified even more when using dairy in your coffee. So if you want to know how long does iced coffee last with milk. The answer is an even shorter amount of time. Wed say no longer than 2 hours outside of a refrigerator.
Cold brew coffee doesnt have the same problem. Provided it is kept chilled, you can keep cold brew coffee for up to 5 days.;
