Invite The Bubbles To Your Cup With Soda

Another alternative to the regular iced coffee could be adding bubbly refreshment to your coffee. And thats called cold brew soda basically. For the most basic form, you can include one ounce of regular syrup with around 2 ounces of Starbucks concentrate. And then pour it into around 8 ounces of soda water.

Go for some ice as well. Give all of these a good mix and youll love the blend especially during hot weathers. The flavored syrup can be of your choice. Its simply there to add some extra oomph to the drink.

You can try other sort of inserts as well. Some like to add fresh mint leaves to glass at the bottom. And then pour the drink on top. If you love the lemony citrus flavor, then squeezing a fresh lemon juice is also a great idea.

Do I Need A Specific Cold Brew Coffee Maker

This is a tricky question because while you can make cold brew coffee without a specific cold brew coffee maker, it won’t be as easy to make it, or as tasty of a coffee.

I don’t like unnecessary kitchen equipment but if you are serious about making cold brew, a dedicated;cold brew coffee maker will give you much better coffee.

It’s like brushing your teeth with a free hotel toothbrush, instead of a Sonicare. But the good news is that a dedicated cold brew coffee maker cost less than a Sonicare! And in all seriousness, you’ll quickly be saving money on coffee after just a few brews with a cold brew coffee maker.

How Much Coffee To Water For Cold Brew

The ratio of coarse ground coffee to cups of water to make your cold brew is subjective. If you want a stronger concentrate you would add more ground coffee, for a weaker one add less.

Thats great, but if this is your very first time making it where should you start? In a 4 cup, 32 ounce, or 1 liter French press add about 3/4 to 1 cup ground coffee to about 4 cups water to start with. After the first batch you can tailor it to suit your taste. I usually start with this water ratio of 3 parts water to one part coffee grounds, but you can use the amount of water that makes the cold brew mixture strength that you prefer. After all, a higher ratio of coffee grounds makes a strong morning brew, while the brew time will also change the brew strength.

    Cold Brew Versus Iced Coffee

Iced coffee is coffee brewed with hot water but cold – usually chilled with ice.

For those who dont know, cold brew is a method that uses cold or room temperature water to brew coffee. It takes longer than using hot water: while iced coffee is ready;within minutes, cold brew will take 12 to 20 hours to be ready, so you need to make this in advance.

Also, iced coffee tastes like your regular coffee but chilled and more diluted because of the ice used to make it cold. Cold brew has a different, smoother taste, and is both less acidic and bitter.

How To Make Cold Brew Coffee Without A Cold Brew Coffee Maker

If you don’t have a dedicated cold brew coffee concentrate maker, you can mix everything in a big container to allow the coffee to brew. You’ll then need to pour the cold brew coffee concentrate through a filter when it’s ready.

For example, you can set it up using a v60 coffee brewer if you have one.;Alternatively, many recipes will suggest using a French press coffee brewer.

I don’t recommend either of these methods because as mentioned earlier, when you pour out the coffee concentrate because you agitate the coffee grounds and risk releasing bitter compounds into your coffee.

Additionally, with the French press, the filter typically does not catch all the coffee grounds, so you end up with cold brew coffee that doesn’t taste as clean .

So, it is definitely worth investing in a proper cold brew coffee maker!

You’ll be able to make fresh cold brew coffee at home easily and you’ll save money by not needing to buy store-bought cold brew again – either in concentrate form from the grocery store, or from a coffee shop.

    Coffee Concentrate Vs Cold Brew

Literally, cold brew concentrate and cold brew are pretty identical, but one is a more compelling brew than another! Both are run through the cold brewing process soaking coffee grounds in water for a long period of time, and filtering to have the resulting brew.

The process isnt as fast as hot brewing, but you get a stronger, more satisfying iced coffee. Hot brewing brings out some of the caffeine and flavor from your coffee, and cold brew is made with a higher ratio of coffee to water to achieve the same results.

However, your best bet is cold brew coffee concentrate, for the strongest possible brew. Cold brew is richer in caffeine content and has more flavor than a traditional cold brew, meaning its more concentrated. This is why its best served mixed with water.

Achieving a higher concentration, more potent brew with a similar cold brewing process is the key difference the difference is the ratio of a greater quantity of coffee to that of water the cold brew concentration ratio!

And so, you are free to experiment with a slew of other items to make something interesting. Basically, make a delicious mocktail type of beverage.

Now dont become completely insane with the mixing game. You want to enjoy that good cold brew mocktail, and being too creative might end up making a weird flavor that wont be fascinating at all.

Diluting Cold Brew Concentrate With Water

This is probably the most obvious one and is why I am mentioning it first. The concentrate is strong so a 1 to 1 ratio with water will do the trick. Using cold water and adding ice will make for a great coffee during the warmer months. You are going to end up with a cup of strong black coffee. If you still find the taste a bit too much, you are more than welcomed to add more water or ice until perfect.

    It might look like you have now ended up with an iced coffee, but iced coffee made with a hot brew and iced coffee made with a cold brew is different. The most important difference is the taste. Iced coffee from a cold brew has a smoother, sweeter taste, while iced coffee from a hot brew has a bit of an acidic taste.;

    If you are more of a warm cup of joe kind of person, then have no fear. Yes, you can have a warm cup of coffee with the sweet taste of a cold brew. Just as you would dilute with cold water, you can just add hot water to your cold brew concentrate and have a warm cup of delicious coffee. If this is still not hot enough for you, you can warm up your cup as well. The taste will remain about the same. But in my experience, just adding hot water is enough.;

How Much Cold Brew Should I Drink

As you can see from the caffeine content of the cold brew concentrate, its best to stick with one or two cups of cold brew a day. Up to 400 mg of caffeine is a good number for most adults, so it might not be best to go over this limit.

As the cold brew concentrate has a ton of caffeine but is diluted before drinking, it is safe to drink one cup of cold brew coffee a day. You can also drink two, but youll have reached the limit for that day.

For me, its not worth it to finish my amount of caffeine in just a few hours with just two coffees. I like to drink one cup of cold brew coffee a day and then add some regular hot coffee divided throughout the day.

This works amazing when youve got a tough day ahead and want to stay focused the whole workday and not feel the caffeines adverse effect.

Not To Forget Cold Brew Cocktails

Finally, you can try the concentrate for making some cocktail style drink with it. The specialty about cocktails is that it basically blends all sort of taste and balances them together. From being sour, sweet to spice and spirit, cocktails are loved for being a unique style of drink craft. And you can try something new with the Starbucks cold brew concentrate by using it for a cocktail recipe as well.

Coffee cocktails are not new things. If youre into it, Irish coffee and espresso martini should be some common names to you. However, using a cold brew for the cocktail recipe isnt a very old concept, in fact pretty new. And people are loving it!

Cold-brew coffee negroni is a complex taste that is also very addicting. And the boost of a perfectly made cold brew hot toddy is also incredible. Basically, youll have lots of options to try when combining cocktail and cold brew together.
