Is Nespresso Machine Worth It??? | NESPRESSO VERTUO NEXT Unboxing & Review | KEURIG Replacement?

A couple important notes:

  • The Vertuo Next is Nespresso’s newest VertuoLine model, but instead of going bigger/better, they went smaller. It has the slimmest width at just 5.5″ but otherwise is the least feature-rich of every model.
  • You’d think the VertuoPlus and VertuoPlus Deluxe would be better than the regular Vertuo, but that isn’t the case. Sure, the VertuoPlus Deluxe has the largest reservoir of the three at 57 oz, but the Vertuo has a larger spent capsule container and a 1350W heating element with a 15-second heat-up speed.

Of the 5 VertuoLine models, the Vertuo Next is the slimmest and is ideal if you’re looking for a model that doesn’t take up much space.

If the downsides above scared you off a VertuoLine machine, check out the Nespresso Essenza Plus. It has a 34 oz reservoir with preset brew sizes for 1.35 oz espresso, 3.70 oz lungo, 5.05 oz Americano, and 6.75 oz Americano XL in a slimmer, 4.7″ wide model.

But again, if you’re repeatedly going to be brewing full-sized coffees then there’s nothing wrong with getting a VertuoLine machine.

That said, while we prefer Nespresso to every other single-serve brand, perhaps something like the Keurig K-Cafe is more your speed. Like Nespresso VertuoLine machines, the K-Cafe brews both espresso drinks and full-sized coffees, except the K-Cafe is better at coffees than espresso drinks whereas Nespresso is better at espresso drinks than coffees.

How Does It Taste

How about the taste, then? Well, I was pretty happy with the taste of my Nespresso. It didn’t stand out to me as especially delicious, but it’s definitely better than a lot of the single-serve coffees I’ve tried over the years.

Because there are no rival brands making Vertuo pods you are definitely committed to Nespresso quality coffee. Whether that’s a good thing, I’m not sure, but it’s totally drinkable and not too sour or bitter. I would note that I wasn’t able to tell much of a difference in taste between the different pods, but I could tell the difference in strength, which is denoted on the side of the containers.

I’m more of an espresso drinker, but my partner likes classic long coffees, and got on very well with this machine. Unlike forcing water through already-extracted grounds, as you’ll often do if you try and make a homemade americano using an espresso maker, these pods are portioned perfectly to make a variety of different coffee sizes. He did get through that water tank a lot quicker than me and ended up refilling it at least once a day, which says a lot about the amount of coffee the pair of us get through when we work from home.

Fortunately, Nespresso does run a recycling scheme for these pods that is very convenient to use if buying pods regularly. With your pod order, they send a bag to collect the used pods which they will then pick up on delivery of the next batch.

Is it worth buying a Nespresso machine? A Nespresso machine could save you hundreds of dollars each year if you buy coffee regularly from a coffee shop. The average American spends $1100 per year for coffee. This is less than $3 per day.

Yes, the machine and pods will cost more upfront. Even after all that, the Nespresso coffee machine is an excellent option for anyone looking to save money by making their own coffee at home. The savings are not the only benefit! You have many other reasons to choose one.

Nespresso Vertuo Next Review: Is It Worth The Money

Shop Nespresso Vertuo Next:

Overall Thoughts: I have to say..y’all were RIGHT. This coffee pod machine is worth every single penny. I love a good coffee drink a few times a day..and I’m SHOCKED at how much better my at home coffee drinks taste than they did with the OTHER machine . The Nespresso pods cost more than my other coffee pods.which was one of my biggest hesitations. But, WOW are they delicious. I’ve done both the flavored options and the traditional coffee and loved them both.

A few points on how the machine works. This specific model is the newest of all the Nespresso vertuo machines, the smallest and the most sleek looking . To clarify : the Vertuo line makes a ton of different sizes and types of coffee drinks . A regular Nespresso machine from Nespressos original line is ONLY espresso drinks. Nespresso has a guide to all machines HERE.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next has a removable drip tray and a storage section that houses used coffee pods until you empty it .

Ease of use was high. I didn’t need any help setting up the machine or figuring out how to make drinks. It’s pretty much just set up and push a button. The brewing process does take longer than other machines . The machine does run out of water fairly quickly, so my only complaint? I do wish it had a slightly larger water reservoir.

Shipping Time: Shipping time for Nespresso products has been STELLAR. Everything arrives quickly .

Setup Process: Takes About 10 Minutes Very Simple

The setup for the Nespresso Vertuo is simple and fast. The user manual advises cleaning the water tank before filling it with fresh water for the first time. A middle button on the coffee head turns the machine on. The entire cleaning process took about 10 minutes.

This machine also comes with the Aeroccino3 milk frother, which also needs to be cleaned by hand before using it for the first time. This includes the lid, seal, whisk, mixer , frothing spring , and the interior of the milk frother.

Nespresso Vertuo Plus Review: Verdict

The Nespresso Vertuo Plus is the brand’s best machine to date, and even though there are concerns around being locked into the brand’s expensive pods, that’s the price you pay for a convenient brewing system packed with luxurious features. If you want the ease of a pod machine, but don’t want to sacrifice the quality of your coffee, there aren’t really any options outside of Nespresso’s lineup.

The only thing holding the Nespresso Vertuo Plus back is its pods. While the machine often comes with a starter pack to get you up and running, those premium capsules will start to add up. Not only does the Vertuo Plus have a higher MSRP than Keurig competitors, but the coffee itself is more expensive, which becomes even more frustrating considering you’re fully locked into the brand’s own pods. Keurig’s K-Cup brand is open to more coffee roasters, which means you’re getting far more variety and, crucially, a wider price range here.

As mentioned above, we did also lose a few of those precious capsules to the automatic lid system, where anything getting in the way leads it to refuse to brew.

While Nespresso pods are recyclable, they can’t be recycled from home. You’ll need to take your pods to a Nespresso boutique or select retail locations, which can undercut some of the brand’s focus on convenience.

Nespresso Vertuo Review: How Does It Stack Up

Nespresso brought a number of interesting coffee machines on the market in recent history. While each of these bring a decent cup of coffee, there are numerous variables to consider before you purchase a Nespresso machine.

Today, we take a closer look at their Vertuo model, deciding if it is worth the investment or not.

Don’t Miss: Is Drinking Coffee Good For Health

Nespresso Vertuoline Review: Is It Worth The Capsule Limitations

Years ago you probably got one of those espresso machines.

You know, one of those manual ones that came with a bunch on instructions in 3 languages that gave you zero info on how to actually make a good shot of espresso. You got it as a wedding, house warming or bridal shower gift and it up ended being used once and was left in the box since then.I definitely got one of those, and before I got into coffee as a passion, I could not be bothered to master the grind, the timing and the water level to use it.

I just went to a coffee shop for my fix.

But now, after years of avoiding coffee pods of any kind, I ran into an Nespresso demo and I was suddenly in the market for a Nespresso machine. I had my doses of sweet darkness from both their OriginalLine and VertuoLine machines, so I am definitely pumped to write about this today.

Today I will give you the full low down on the Nespresso VertuoLine from my perspective, so you can see if it will satisfy your coffee requirements. The stuff that I feel is important and what can make this line of machines a miracle for many or limited to some .

I promise you by the end of this post, you will know whether the VertuoLine is for you or not. Well cover the quality of coffee produced, the capsule situation, the ease of use of the machine and how you can even expand the coffee option if you have the time.

Is The Vertuo Better Than The Original Nespresso

Is Nespresso Vertuo worth it? – six month real world review

In our opinion, the Original line of Nespresso machines is better than the Vertuo Line, for the following reasons:

  • OriginalLine machines accept third party capsules, widening your coffee choice.
  • OriginalLine machines are compatible with reusable Nespresso pods, making the OriginalLine machines more environmentally friendly.
  • The cost of OriginalLine coffee pods is lower, and third party pods even lower – as low as $0.35. The VertuoLine pods cost around $1.20.
  • OriginalLine machines brew using 19 bars of pressure, resulting in bolder brews that resemble more true espresso.
  • There are higher end machines within the OriginalLine, such as the Gran Lattissima which automatically steams and froths milk, or the Creatista Plus which has a steam wand allowing you to create latte art.

Nestle’s Nespresso brand makes a foray into single-serve coffee makers with new, retro-style VertuoLine machines.

Nestle’s Nespresso brand is known for its espresso-centric line of at-home brewers. In an attempt to appeal to folks who also like coffee, it recently launched VertuoLine, Nespresso’s very first single cup espresso and coffee maker. Nespresso is targeting premium brew fans with its proprietary selection of barcoded “Grand Cru” coffee and espresso pods. At $299, VertuoLine machines aren’t cheap, but they do offer superior design and usability, and Nespresso’s signature crema layer that makes your daily dose of caffeine feel a bit more gourmet. Overall, though, this machine didn’t yield significantly better coffee than what you can find from other, less expensive models and coffee pods. Still, if you’re interested in a machine that strictly makes coffee and espresso, VertuoLine is a very good option.

    Is Nespresso Good Value

Regardless of how the price fluctuates based on additional features, youll find plenty of use for any extra investments you put into your Nespresso. Whether its the larger water reservoir, an auto-off function, or a milk frother, it always adds value to your purchase.

Personally, I never thought Id get so hooked on the Aeroccino milk frother. Before I purchased my Nespresso machine, I was just a coffee mate guy. Albeit, I was turned off the concept of milk frothing with a steam wand. But, now, I cant live without that amazing Aeroccino with its one-touch milk heating capabilities.

Nespresso is a brand that values quality in all aspects of its products. As a result, youre able to brew Nespresso coffee pods using the best extraction methods, providing compact design solutions, and making delicious espresso-style coffee. Making all these as easily accessible as possible is part of the companys core principles.

Nespresso aims to bring the coffee shop experience to you. As a result, you dont need to leave your home and spend big bucks every day to get your hands on a quality cup of coffee. For that reason alone, Nespresso can be of great value to you for the mere fact that you will save money on coffee in the long run.

    Features And Ease Of Use

The Nespresso Vertuo Next only comes with the necessary features to make coffee-making as easy and quickly as possible.

Yes, it does not have many features.

But, given its price-point, we do not penalize this machine too much for not having features other more expensive machines typically come with.

In fact, more premium machines can have too many unnecessary features that can hurt the design purpose, ease of use, and reliability of the machine. They can also bloat the price.

It’s obvious that this Nespresso machine was designed with the intent of simplicity and ease of use.

The first hint is that this Nespresso machine is operated using just one button. This is referred to as either the ON/OFF button or the Coffee Button.

You use this same button to turn on your machine, to prepare coffee, to initiate the cleaning or descaling modes, or to change the brew size.

This is accomplished by holding this button for set a amount of time or pressing it a set number of times within a timeframe. For example, the cleaning program is activated if you press this button 3 times within 2 seconds.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next allows you to prepare up to five different drink sizes. Depending on capsule size, these are Espresso , Double Espresso , Gran Lungo , Mug , and Alto .

Another nice feature is its auto-off feature – your machine will automatically turn off after 2 minutes of inactivity saving electricity.

How The Nespresso Vertuo Plus Works

As you’ll see, this coffee maker creates thick and luscious-looking coffees with a very large layer of crema at the top of the cup. This crema isn’t anything like the kind of crema you get from a fresh-brewed espresso. It’s made artificially by the machine, which spins the pods to extract the coffee and create a foam as it brews.

Just because this crema isn’t the most authentic, doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable. After all, if you’ve read this far you’re not clearly not phased by making coffee out of a metallic pod, so I doubt the lack of a fresh-ground bean will bother you.

You get all the fun, aesthetic parts of making a coffee with this machine. The drink visibly turns from a foamy brown to dark, clear coffee underneath a layer of foam. Add in your milk, and you’ve got a realistic-looking latte that tastes pretty similar to what you’ll get at your local chain coffee store.

Leave it for too long though, and the illusion does start to fade slightly. The coffee thins out, much like a tiny bubble bath, leaving you with much less pleasant drink. I’d suggest stirring your coffee before you drink it to avoid this.

Verdict: Should You Buy A Vertuo

is Nespresso worth it? – one year real world review of the Vertuo line

There are many features we are excited about when it comes to the Vertuo. And even though there is such a thing as the Vertuoplus, we would most certainly recommend the Vertuo over the upgraded version.

The Vertuo machine provides all the basics you need for pods brewing. And even though the machine lacks some of the advanced coffee brewing features, it provides the basics unlike any other.

In fact, the only thing we could find lacking with this coffee maker was a smaller collection of coffee pods. Since this machine does work with a barcode, it is difficult to find capsules that are compatible from other brands. So, if you do not mind this tiny issue, you will have a solid espresso and coffee maker for your home.
