The Keurig K Supreme Plus is one of Keurigs most up-to-date and innovative single-serve coffee makers out there. With its minimal and sleek looking design, it offers some cool features. Features include MultiStream Technology, Iced Coffee Function, Adjustable Temperature Control, Adjustable Brewing Strength, and a Digital Display Screen. This is Keurigs upgrade of the original K Supreme and is worth its price by all means.

Design And Build Quality
The Keurig K-Supreme Plus SMART is a good-looking Keurig coffee maker, with its rounded and compact design. At just 8.3 inches in width. You should not have issues trying to fit this smart coffee maker on your kitchen counters .
It comes in black stainless steel, enhancing its looks and durability. The water reservoir comes with a handle and is quite large, with a capacity of 78 oz. It sits sturdily on its base – an improvement from the K-Supremes water tank that wobbles a bit. However, the water tank is static – it can only be placed on the left side of the coffee maker.
The user interface looks great with a set of buttons to control the temperature and brew strength settings, as well as buttons for each of the five cup sizes . On top of the buttons, there is a monochrome screen that shows the currently selected settings and issues any alerts .
The UI is intuitive besides looking great. Without reading the K-Supreme Plus SMART manual you can figure out what most buttons do, except perhaps for the heart icon and the mug-with-a-star icon .
You can also control this coffee machine using your smartphone. For example, there are sliders to control the coffee size, intensity, and temperature. We like the apps visual and intuitive slide bars.
Although Keurig states this machine is compatible with travel mugs, the coffee spout vertical clearance is about 6.25 inches. So not all travel mugs will not fit.

The K-Supreme Plus SMART is one of the most advanced Keurig machines. It has plenty of settings to customize your brew, in addition to its smart coffee maker features.
One of the best features this smart brewer has to offer is its . By pressing the heart icon you can save up to 10 custom brews and in the Keurig app you can even rename them.
This is quite handy if you live in a large household with many preferences, or if you like to try different types of K-cups but dont want to bother remembering the brew settings you like.
Talking about brew settings, this baby has:
- 5 Brew sizes including 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 oz cups.
- 5 strength and 6 temperature levels you can choose from to customize your coffee the way you want it.
- BrewID: Using a QR code, the K-Supreme Plus SMART recognizes the K-Cup pod you inserted and optimizes the brew settings for a perfectly customized cup. Its like having your own personal coffee roasting expert.
- Iced Settings, which brews a stronger coffee to account for dilution due to ice melt.
- A high altitude setting,to account for the change in the waters boiling point with higher altitudes.
- A hot water dispenser – simply press the K button without inserting a K-Cup, then choose the cup size and press K again.

Is This Smart Coffee Brewer Worth It
Over the past decade, Ive had to make plenty of decisions regarding the transition to basic smart home gadgets all the way up to connected large appliances. It involves factors like, is this a product that warrants a smart upgrade? Would I use the features? Should I wait until some of the bugs are worked out in later product generations?
For some purchases, it took no time to decide. I knew how helpful a smart garage door opener could be. The same goes for a smart thermostat, auto-adapting sprinkler control system and a video doorbell.
I even found that a smart washer and dryer were great additions. No, it wont load and unload your laundry, but getting notified on my Apple Watch that a load is complete has saved all sorts of time when it comes to not having to deal with wrinkled clothes.
A smart coffee maker, on the other hand, is something I had to put a little more thought into in terms of how often I would even use its smart features or the app itself. And the verdict after using the Keurig K-Supreme Plus for the past three months Im glad this is the one I bought.
While its somewhat more expensive than other Keurig brewers, the broader range of custom controls on this one makes it worth the price of admission alone. The ability to save favorites, brew on a schedule and set up recurring deliveries that automatically adjust based on need are just added bonuses as far as Im concerned.

Yes, especially if youve been a loyal customer of Keurig and hope to upgrade your coffee experience with customization, quality, and convenience. This Keurig has evolved to be a personal coffee assistant instead of just a coffee maker. Plus, if you use the Keurig app to purchase new pods, youll be able to save money on K-Cups through its rewards program.

It’s Lacking An Automatic Pod Disposal
I wish there was an automatic pod disposal system, which is common among Keurigs competitors. When I do use pod coffee makers, I like to collect the used pods in one place and do the recycling altogether instead of piecemeal. As it stands, I have to manually take out each pod thats done brewing and theres no convenient place to keep them.
What Are The Best Alternatives To Keurigs K
The SMART is only worth paying for if you want connectivity features like BrewID, programmed brew, and Alexa integration. There arent any other alternatives that offer these features.
For people looking to only make a good cup of K-cup coffee then I usually recommend buying the regular K-Supreme Plus, the K-Café, or the K-Duo Plus for its ability to brew a full pot of coffee at once into a thermal carafe.

Lastly I think the K-Elite can be a better buy for some people who like to brew multiple cups sequentially in the morning and like the classic style of the K-Elite over the newer boxier designs.
Husbands and wives who both drink a couple cups every morning before heading off to work come to mind because the K-Elite warms up once and then brews multiple cups quickly without wait time. The single needle system is also something some people prefer because its simpler and easier to clean.

How Well Do Keurig K
CR ran the Keurig K-Supreme Plus Smart through its rigorous lab tests, while I tried out the K-Supreme Plus C in real-world situations at home. We evaluated the Plus Smart model without its WiFi connectivity to see how it compares with regular coffee makers in our ratings, and barring that, we expect all of the K-Supreme models to perform similarly. Heres what we found in our lab tests:
Our engineers reported that it brewed very quickly, particularly for its first cup of the day. Subsequent cups, though, didnt take much longer . It also offered superb brew-size consistency between cups, though its temperature consistency is middling at best. Finally, the K-Supreme Plus Smart has great brewing range, thanks to its brew-strength controls, and scores highly in our convenience tests, which evaluate how easily you can refill the water reservoir, operate the brewer, and clean it when youre done.
At home, I used the Keurig K-Supreme Plus C for over a year. The brewer is very easy to set up, and the controls are quite intuitive, so much so that I barely consulted the manual. The various size, strength, and temperature settings made it easy to tweak the brew to my liking, but I also found that the over-ice brew mode yielded very watery iced coffee that more closely resembled iced tea.

Hamilton Beach 49974 Flexbrew Coffee Maker
Budget Alternative
The Hamilton Beach FlexBrew is by far the best budget alternative coffee maker to the Keurig Supreme Plus. You can use either k-cup pods or the reusable ground basket if you decide to use your own grounds. The Hamilton Beach comes with a pod holder which allows you to hold your single-serve pod for when you decide to use k-cups instead.
The downside to the Hamilton Beach is that it does not have a removable water reservoir and has a maximum capacity of 14 ounces. Another downside is that there is minimal functionality. You cannot adjust the temperature or select a different brewing profile.
Unlike the Supreme Plus, the Hamilton Beach has many detachable parts that are fully dishwasher safe. This makes it a lot easier to clean the machine. If you are someone who wants a single-serve coffee maker that makes decent coffee and is under $100 then this ones for you.
How To Make Iced Coffee With Keurig
The K-Supreme Plus Smart has an Iced Coffee preset, which makes brewing pretty straightforward. The preset tells the machine to strengthen the brew, which prevents the ice cubes from diluting the coffee too much. All you need to do is to add ice cubes to your mug and let the coffee maker do the rest of the work.

My Experience Using The Keurig K
The K-Supreme Plus Smart coffee maker fits nicely on a kitchen counter or in a home office.

Compared to my older and less expensive Keurig coffee maker, this new one offers several features that Ive come to truly appreciate. First, the K-Supreme is a smart coffee maker, so you can connect it to your homes Wi-Fi network and remotely control it with your phone. Once its set upensuring the tank has adequate water, inserting a K-Cup pod and placing a mug beneath the outputyou can activate it with just the tap of a few buttons on your smartphone screen or a voice command. I like to start the K-Supreme brewing from my upstairs office so that by the time I make my way downstairs to the kitchen, the 90-second brewing process is just about complete.
The display and control buttons located on top of the K-Supreme Plus Smart make it very easy and … intuitive to operate.

As for the size of your brew, the K-Supreme Plus Smart supports five different options. Generally this is a plus, but its worth noting that theres only a six-inch height clearance between the drip tray and the output, so most tall travel mugs wont fit. Instead, when Im planning to take my coffee with me on the go, I typically use the 10-ounce Yeti Rambler, which slides right in. Of course, you always have the option of brewing your coffee in a regular mug and then pouring it into your favorite travel mug.
You Cannot Brew Several Cups At Once
Keep in mind that, although the water tank holds 72 ounces, the K-Supreme Plus Smart is a single-cup brewing machine. So, if you need to make multiple cups of coffee back-to-back , youll need to stand close to the machine to swap out the K-Cup pods and coffee cups, and then hit the brew button for each cup. As someone who is single and lives alone, this isnt an issue. But for a couple or someone with roommates, choosing a smart coffee maker that can brew multiple cups of coffee at once might be a more convenient option.

Whats New About The K
The Supreme Plus SMART is basically the same thing except it adds new connectivity features and a mobile app that allow for control of the unit at the machine or from your couch.
Probably the coolest features of the connectivity side of this machine are the addition of Alexa control and programmed brew cycles.
If you keep a k-cup in the brew chamber and a mug under the spout you can open your Keurig app on your mobile device and program the machine to brew a cup of coffee at a set time usually the mornign just before you go downstairs after your morning shower.
For people that dont get up on a perfect schedule then the Alexa option is really nice if you have an Alexa device somewhere in or around your bedroom.
Again, if you setup the k-cup and mug the night before when you get up in the morning you can tell Alexa to brew a cup of coffee from your bedroom while you are getting ready for the day and when you get to your Keurig the cup is ready and waiting for you.
There are a handful additional of new functions added to the machine that dont exactly have to do with connectivity. I wanted to explain these new features in the following video. Dont worry Ill add a written version of this below as well if you want to skip the vids.

The Supreme Smart Looks Different Too
Although the SMART edition is basically the same style as its predecessors the trim is different. It uses a new shinier silver metallic trim and the screen on the top control panel of the unit is much bigger and fancier.
The LED screen is now set above the casing and on an angle making it easier to read when the machine is pressed back underneath a cabinet. This is important because it actually shows a lot of information and messages on that screen unlike the older Supreme models.
Of course this brewer also uses the five-point needle that Keurig calls multi-stream technology so the extracted coffee from a K-Cup comes out more even than the single point needle brewers.
I believe the coffee tastes better like this but it does mean you have to check and clean five different needles instead of one to prevent or clear clogs.
Ive also found that when I use certain types of eco-friendly k-cups the multi-point needle has a harder time puncturing the k-cup lids. This happens most frequently when the lids are made from thick paper instead of a plastic film or foil lid.
