Lets say its been a whole month since you havent cleaned your Nespresso coffee machine and have consistently been using it as well. Then it must be dirty, for which its blinking orange light.

The second possible reason could be that your coffee machine is overheating or there is not enough water in it. Also, there might be some blockage of the capsule inside the machine.

Remember, the Nespresso coffee machine is the most advanced machine. Its designed in a way that whenever it has any issue, it indicates by blinking the indicator light in a different way for different issues.

To make it simpler for you, Ive added a table in which all the reasons and the blinking alerts that this machine gives for them are mentioned. Examine them to see which one you have.

So now you know what the possible causes of your Nespresso blinking orange light are. But whats the solution? Lets head over to the solutions to this issue now.

How To Fix Nespresso Blinking Orange Light

As stated earlier in the table, the machine gives different types of blinking alerts for different issues. So to solve all these issues, well have to learn to solve all types of blinking light alerts separately.

Therefore, Ill mention all the methods individually so you can understand everything better. First of all, find out what alert your machine is giving so that you can only read about what you need.

Leakage In Capsule Area

If your coffee capsule area is leaking, you should first make sure the capsule is placed correctly in the capsule holder.

Another possible cause of leakage in the capsule area is when the water cant enter or exit the capsule correctly. This happens when the grid plate has been blocked by the coffee residue build-up, which can cause spurts of leakage.

The grid plate is part of OriginaLine machines where espresso exits the pod. The grid plate has many small pyramid-shaped holes that press against the foil lid of the capsule. The pressure builds up inside the capsule when you push the brew button on the Nespresso coffee machine. This pushes the foil against the plates raised profile, which bursts the foil and allows the coffee to get extracted through the tiny holes in the plate, through the spout, and finally into your cup.

The constant contact and pressure mean the grid plate is the dirtiest part of your Nespresso coffee maker. Coffee grounds and residue build on the grid place, which can block coffee from flowing. A dirty grid plate brings old coffee into your cup. Worst of all, bacteria will grow there, ugh.

Cleaning the grid plate is simple scrub it with a toothbrush. This will clean the coffee grounds. Then, flush the machine a few times .

The Nespresso red light is an indication and can mean a number of different things. In simple terms, it means there is something in your Nespresso machine that requires fixing. How To Fix Nespresso Next Flashing Orange Two Times Per Second

When your Nespresso blinks orange light twice, then you must clean the machine thoroughly. Follow the below-mentioned steps and see if they solve your problem.

    • Open the head of the Machine to eject any previously used capsules.
    • Take a paper towel or piece of cloth, and gently slide it around the machine parts.
    • Open the head of the machine and clean the area where coffee capsules are placed and also wipe all the moving parts of the machine with that cloth.
    • Empty and rinse the water reservoir, then fill it with fresh water to minimize the chance of contaminants buildup.
    • Wash the cup holder and place a larger cup under the coffee spout to drain left out.
    • Empty the capsule container, and rinse it with water.
    • Close the head and place it in the locked position by turning it to the left.

If your machine is blinking two times per second then your problem must be solved by following the steps mentioned above.

If it keeps blinking, hold down the button for approximately 7 seconds. If it doesnt stop and keeps blinking, you should run descaling before calling Nespresso support.

Blockage of coffee grounds in the machine

Sometimes, the Nespresso machine experiences blockage of grounds in its centrifugal spinner at the top of the capsule holder. In this situation, the Machine cannot operate properly and alert the user by blinking orange light.

Two Rapid Blinks And A Long Pause

There are a few different reasons you may see this error status that lets you know there is a machine error. To help you determine the right action to take, you need to know what the machine is doing when you see this error indicator.

If you see this during coffee prep, you should ensure that the new capsule was inserted correctly and is not damaged. Also, ensure that the machine head is locked in place. If the light continues blinking, you should try to insert a new coffee pod, lock the machine head, and press the button to start the brewing process again.

If you see the two rapid blinks followed by a long pause while you are descaling or cleaning the machine, you should ensure that there is no capsule in the capsule container and that the machine head is locked. Then, press and hold the button for about three seconds to turn the machine off. Then, press the button again to turn it back on.

If the light is still blinking after doing this, try unplugging your machine from the wall. Then, wait about ten seconds before you plug it back in and turn it back on.

Finally, you may see this error code while programming the water volume you would like for your drink. If you do, ensure youve placed the pod correctly. This should take care of the flashing orange lights.

Why Does My Nespresso Flash Twice And Then Have A Long Pause

This could mean several things. It may be that a damaged coffee capsule was inserted and needs to be replaced. Alternatively, it could mean that there is a capsule in the machine head, but you are trying to use the descaling mode and need to remove it.

Finally, this series of light blinks could let you know that the pod position is incorrect or in an unknown position and needs to be corrected.

I Descaled My Nespresso And The Light Is Still Red

Nespresso Orange Light : Orange Water Light Is Constantly On My ...

If the red light is still there even after you have thoroughly descaled the machine, it only means the problem is elsewhere. As we have discussed earlier, the red light problem in Nespresso machines is a result of several problems.

So, if the descaling didnt work, try to find other things you can do to fix it. Check the machines head for obstruction, restart the machine, clean the capsule container, re-insert the capsules, and more. One of these things has to be the solution!

Two Short Flashes And A Long Blink:

This light pattern is not as common as the others, but that doesnât mean you can leave it unnoticed. It means that there is an error in the machine. It doesnât say specifically what kind of error.

It can be any one of the several common Nespresso malfunctions. If you see this pattern, try unplugging your machine for a few minutes and then plug back in. If the lights donât go away, contact Nespresso support for further assistance.

    Choose Your Descaling Fluid

You need to use descaler in your Nespresso machine. Nespresso sells its own version, which comes in a pack with two sachets, but you can use any commercially available descaler instead, just make sure that you follow the instructions on the amount to use. Weve used Nespresso descaler here for this guide.

You can use alternative substances, such as lemon juice or vinegar. We dont recommend using vinegar, because of the horrendous smell it causes. Lemon juice can work, but you need a fair amount of juice, which will probably work out more hassle than using descaling fluid.

The Nespresso Coffee Machine Doesnt Pierce The Capsule

Nespresso makes capsule coffee machines, so if the coffee machine doesnt pierce the capsule, it cant brew coffee.

Heres why Nespresso coffee machines cant pierce the capsules and how to fix the issue.

    Wrong Capsule Orientation

The capsule can get caught at an angle when loading the coffee machine, usually because the machine wasnt opened or closed all the way.

Make sure the lever is all the way up before you load a new capsule. Then, slowly lower the lever halfway to allow the capsule to fall into alignment. Then, open the lever once again and finally close it down, pushing hard.

    Lever Not Down

Depending on which Nespresso machine you have, the lever needs more or less force to be pushed down. For example, the Citiz and Essenza Mini need more force.

Make sure you hear the click when you push the lever. This signifies that the lever is completely closed and the capsule is correctly inserted.

    Clogged Grid Plate

I talked about how the capsule is pushed against the grid plate, where there are small openings in the shape of pyramids. The capsule is forced on these to pop open the lid.

The pyramids cant open the capsule if they are clogged with coffee grounds. Use soap, water, and a small brush to unclog the plate.

    Non-Compatible Capsules

Nespresso has two kinds of machines and capsules: OriginalLine and VertuoLine. These arent interchangeable, so you need to use the capsule thats compatible with your machine.

How To Fix Nespresso Next Blinks 2 Times In 1 Second And Then Off

This mostly happens in 2 different conditions.

    1. During coffee preparation

During coffee preparation, makes sure that a new undamaged capsule has been inserted correctly. Make sure the machine is locked properly.

If the light is still on, try inserting a new coffee pod, lock it, and press the button.

    2. During the descaling process

During descaling or cleaning, make sure that the machine is locked properly and that there are no capsules in the machine.

Press and hold the button for about 3 seconds to turn the machine off. Press the button again to turn it on. If the light is still flashing, unplug it from the wall outlet.

Wait 10 seconds before plugging it back in, then switch it on again.

Nothing Is Coming Out Of My Nespresso

Magimix 11341 Nespresso U Coffee Maker in Orange

There are several reasons why nothing is coming out of your Nespresso machine:

    • Check that your water tank is filled and in the right position. Nespresso machines do not have low-water sensors , so you have to check the water level before using a capsule.
    • Check that the capsule is inserted properly and the machine is correctly closed and locked.
    • Do a cleaning cycle and try descaling. As always, a rinse cycle usually solves blockages.

    Air Pocket

Another common issue of nothing coming out of a Nespresso machine is that theres an air pocket. This happens when you brew coffee, and the water tank runs dry. Your Nespresso machine will make a loud whooshing noise as it blows air through the machine.

Even after filling the tank, you will have the airlock issue when running the next pod. You need to cycle the air out of the machine with the following steps.

  • Remove the capsule.
  • Make sure the water tank is connected properly to the coffee machine.
  • Press the button to brew coffee multiple times. Air will likely come out the first time, but after two or three tries, the Nespresso machine will change its sound and work properly.
  • Insert the capsule and brew coffee as usual.
  • Note: If you have a big air pocket in the machine, itll take longer for the machine to start brewing. You should keep pressing the button until the water starts coming through.

    Stuck Coffee Grinds

If you use a coffee machine for a long time, coffee grounds can get caught in the small holes of the grid plate.
