Why This Is The Best Iced Oat Milk Shaken Espresso Recipe
Its the brown sugar spiced syrup that turns this ordinary iced latte into a must-try drink. The warmth of the cinnamon combines perfectly with the rich sweetness of the brown sugar and the hint of vanilla to soften out the harsh bitterness of the espresso.
The result is a smooth-drinking, sophisticated beverage that is not overly sweet or cloying.

Whats In The Toasted Vanilla Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
So what is this drink, really? The ordering screen in the Starbucks app gives some indication. Basically, itâs a blonde espresso , shaken up with ice, oat milk, and a new âToasted Vanilla Syrup.â
I took a look at the official ingredient list for the drink. The syrup is made with sugar instead of corn syrup, which is good. Otherwise, itâs oat milk, flavoring, coffee, and some preservatives and vitamins that make up the drink. There are three espresso shots in a Grande size, so itâs definitely got a nice dose of caffeine.
The drink has only 140 calories, so itâs probably a pretty good bet if youâre looking for something lower-calorie than a Frappuccino or even a latte .

Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
This Homemade Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is made with simple ingredients that you can actually pronounce!
Lately, my go-to drink at Starbucks has been the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso. Its a great lower sugar, lower calorie option in comparison to their other syrupy drinks. I love treating myself to the occasional Starbucks but ever since I bought my Nespresso, I am trying to refrain from spending money on coffee! And I knew that I could definitely make my own version at home with no syrup!
This turns out just like the Starbucks original that I love without Starbucks super long ingredients list. All you have to do is invest a few minutes of your time to make this A lot of the recipes I have seen for the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso requires whipping up a batch of brown sugar syrup. An issue with that is that I never know what to do with all the leftover syrup.
Instead, I decided to make a single-serve version of the recipe that makes just enough for one person without the hassle of the syrup. The best part is that it will not take you very long to do! Its a quick 5-minute recipe thatll leave you craving more! It is perfect to whip up in the morning and will not take much time or effort. If youre someone on a tight budget this is a great option for you. This drink is so easy to make at home that there is really no reason to spend $5 on it! What Does It Taste Like
One sip, and youll see why this iced shaken espresso is turning heads. It is refreshingly sweet yet packs a strong punch of caffeine. I was a little apprehensive that the grande, which comes with three shots, would be too strong for me . My barista recommended toning it down to two espresso shots, and Im so glad she did! I didnt taste an overwhelming amount of espresso, but it also didnt taste like I was drinking straight sugar.
I will say, make sure to stir or give your drink an extra shake before taking your first sip. Because the oat milk gets poured last, most of the espresso sinks to the bottom.

What Is A Shaken Espresso
Shaken espresso is lightly frothed espresso made by shaking espresso with ice and added flavoring like brown sugar syrup.
The shaken part of this recipe is to give the coffee a bit more structure, and it will provide the coffee and flavoring a great way to incorporate all their flavors.
Starbucks uses the shaken way of mixing the coffee and add-ins instead of popping it into a blender like they usually do.
The great part about the shaken way of making this recipe is that its super easy to do at home and doesnt require that many ingredients and equipment.

Like a cocktail youll shake the espresso vigorously with ice, then layer it over more ice with a flavored syrup , and top with full fat oat milk.
The full fat part of the full fat oatmilk is important! Its what gives the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso from Starbucks that fantastic Iced Oatmeal Cookie latte flavor. If you cant find full fat, you can go with the Regular oatmilk, but I do not recommend the light/low fat.

How To Make It
Brown Sugar Syrup
This syrup is super easy to make and keeps for a long time if stored correctly in the fridge. For making it:
- In a saucepan, add brown sugar, water, vanilla extract and cinnamon.
- Simmer the mixture, stirring so the brown sugar dissolves completely.
- Take off the heat. Store it in a jar with a lid after cooled, inside the fridge.
Use a dark brown sugar for this recipe, as it gives a stronger taste because of its higher amount of molasses.
You can also mix brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract directly into hot water. Microwave mixture for 30 seconds if brown sugar doesn’t completely dissolves.
I use vanilla extract to enhance the flavors, but if you dont have it, feel free to leave it out. Youll still get a delicious drink.
Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
Brew two shots of espresso.
Fill a mason jar or any recipient you can close with a lid and shake with ice.
Add brown sugar syrup.
Add espresso shots.
Close the lid and shake for 30 seconds, until lightly frothy.
Fill mason jar with more ice. Pour a splash of oat milk, top with ground cinnamon, and serve it right away!
