What’s An Iced Latte

Iced Latte Vs Cod Brew: Caffeine

Whats cooking: Maple vanilla iced-latte

Generally speaking, cold brew has more caffeine than a typical iced latte. This is because the ratio of coffee to water is so much greater, with iced latte being more diluted with cold milk.

All the caffeine in an iced latte comes from espresso.

So if a standard 16oz. iced latte is made with one shot of espresso that means it will have 68mg of caffeine .

On the other hand, a 16oz. cold brew typically has 200mg of caffeine.

The cold brew begins as a concentrate and this concentrate is very high in caffeine, possibly three times higher than espresso.

However, as a concentrate, cold-brew coffee is also typically cut with water or creamer, which levels things out a bit.

Still, even some cold brews that are brewed and sold as ready-to-drink beverages contain higher levels of caffeine than your standard iced latte.

What Is An Iced Vanilla Matcha Latte

This delicious and refreshing green tea drink is a popular Starbucks order but you can easily make it at home too!

A vanilla matcha latte combines the yummy flavors of vanilla and matcha. This is then served over ice and milk to make a perfectly refreshing, creamy beverage.

The flavors of vanilla and matcha complement each other perfectly. Adding some vanilla to matcha is a great way to soften the taste of matcha and make it taste better.

Matcha powder, or green tea powder, can sometimes have a grassy, earthy taste so the vanilla extract used in this latte balances and sweetens the taste of the matcha.

Iced Matcha Tea Latte

The Iced Matcha Tea Latte is the best Starbucks matcha drink.

Its energizing, creamy, and sweet without being too sweet.

Less is often more when it comes to matcha drinks, and this three-ingredient beverage hits all the right marks.

Its also just as satisfying as the Matcha Crème Frappuccino, with fewer than half the calories.

The Iced Matcha Tea Latte is made from finely ground matcha sweetened with sugar.

The matcha is combined with cold milk and served over ice.

The Iced Matcha Tea Latte is available in tall, grande, and venti sizes.

A grande contains 200 calories, 28g of sugar, 5g of fat, and 80mg of caffeine.

How Do You Make Iced Mocha At Home

  • After pouring your hot coffee into a ceramic mug and placing it in the bowl, you should first prepare an ice bath by filling the bowl with ice cubes and cold water.
  • Next, set the cup in the bowl so that the bottom half of the mug is immersed in the ice bath.
  • Within a few minutes, the coffee will be chilled, and you will be able to use it to produce iced mocha.
  • If you decide to go with this strategy, you should avoid utilizing glass.

What Ingredients Are In An Iced Latte

    • Ice: Normally I don’t include ice in a list of ingredients, but ice is pretty integral to making an iced latte. Fill your glass up to the top with it.
    • Espresso: Ideally, you should use espresso made using an espresso machine. The next best option would be to use really strong coffee. Probably the least preferable alternative would be to use instant espresso.
    • Sweetener: You don’t have to sweeten your iced latte if you don’t want to. Totally optional. But you do you.
    • Milk: Now for the “latte” portion of the iced latte. I used full fat oat milk, but 2% or whole cow’s milk would be nice, too. So would almond milk.

You Can Always Tweak The Recipe

There are ways to make this recipe yours, since there is no real recipe for iced latte or iced coffee, aside from the recommended brewing method.

For example one thing that some people can find annoying is how the drink gets watered down when the ice starts to melt. You can bypass this in two ways.

First is to do what many people do, and get yourself a much stronger coffee to pour over the ice. That is the usual and traditional method.

Another way is to use coffee cubes instead if ice cubes. All this means is that when you’ve brewed your coffee, let it cool for a bit and then fill up an ice cube tray.

It might sound odd, but you’re going to surprise yourself with how good of a hack this is. If you’re in the beginning of summer, and you know you’re an iced coffee/latte fan, then it might be wise to stock up on 2-3 coffee cube trays and keep restocking them as needed.

Of course, this means the actual coffee you brew for the iced coffee and iced latte won’t have to be as strong since the coffee cubes won’t water the drink down.

Other ways of tweaking and adjusting the recipe can include sweetening your drink with a syrup, rather than just sugar. You will need to look for a very liquid syrup, so not one that is very thick or is mostly used for toppings.

A few examples can include a chocolate syrup, caramel, strawberry, anything you like in your coffee, really. I for one am a big strawberry and caramel syrup fan, so that’s what I get in my iced lattes sometimes.

Iced Coffee Vs Iced Latte Which Is Better For You

Now that you know the difference between these two coffee drinks, its important to know which is better for you. I suggest the following, depending on the flavor you prefer:

    • Order an iced coffee if you want more caffeine and a stronger tasting cup of cold coffee.
    • If you prefer to have a more balanced coffee with a good amount of milk, optionally with a sweetener, I suggest ordering an iced latte.

I think the above-listed notes will help you order your favorite coffee the next time around.

I prefer drinking iced coffee in the summer months, as it is just a bit more refreshing for me, but I appreciate an iced latte from time to time when I feel like making an easy yet delicious coffee.

    What About An Iced Coffee

4 ways to upgrade your Iced Coffee (with real coffee)

Iced coffees arent usually the best option for non-coffee drinkers. Though they may not be as strong as lattes, you still get the bitterness, acidity, and stronger coffee flavor youd expect from a cup of coffee. Even if you add a splash of milk, a bit of sugar, or some syrup, you wont eliminate the distinct flavor or bitterness of the strong coffee brew.

How To Make Iced Coffee And Iced Latte

Alright, now that you know about hot brewed coffee, and how to cold brew your coffee, you should feel free to choose which method you’d like to use for your next iced coffee drink.

If you’re feeling very specific and would like to get the full experience, I recommend you cold brew as much coffee as you would need. If you want a quick drink, then an espresso or filter coffee will do just as well.

The difference between an espresso and a filter will be in terms of how strong you like your coffee.

For example if you’re aiming for an iced latte, the coffee would taste stronger if you used a shot of espresso rather than half a cup of filter coffee. Simply because espresso is so much stronger than filter coffee.

If you’d like to go for a lighter iced coffee, with just a bit of milk, then a whole cup of filter coffee, chilled and then poured over ice, will do just fine.

Once you’ve decided how much coffee you want and which type of iced drink you’re going to make, you will need:

    • your preferred coffee, brewed whichever way you like
    • milk, if you want it
    • sugar, if you want it make sure to add when the coffee is warm
    • a whole lot of ice

In the tall glass, add the ice. Add as much as you like. Though many places fill the glass almost all the way up with ice, this will kind of rob you of the coffee itself. It works very well if you’re using espresso which is a smaller drink.

    The Specialized Drinks Revolution

Perfect Iced Latte A Couple Cooks

With specialized coffee shops like Starbucks and Seattle Coffee Company on every second corner, you almost feel like you need to learn some Italian to get a drink! Affogato, ristretto, macchiato, frappes, are only some of them.

In this rise of flavors, even something called Freak Shakes has become the norm. The most normal sounding drink these days is a cappuccino or a latte. And even these humble beverages have evolved. Besides the icy cold versions of these popular drinks, they are now also available in a range of other versions. For example:

    • Iced cappuccinos from Starbucks are made with shots of espresso, cold milk, and milk foam to top them off.
    • The Starbucks cold foam cappuccino has also gained popularity. It is made similarly, except for the foam, which is not made from steamed milk but rather from cold milk thats frothed, in a special blender used by baristas.
    • Various vegan versions use plant milk like almond, oat, coconut, or soya milk. Of course, sustainably sourced coffee is a must in these versions!
    • Flavored versions of these delicious icy drinks are created with syrups like hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, or chocolate, and some even have toppings like chocolate shavings, cinnamon, salted caramel, or crushed nuts.
    • Heathen versions, i.e., with a generous dollop of whipped cream and chocolate powder sprinkled on top!

So What Is An Iced Latte

An iced latte is, in its simplest form, the cold version of a regular latte.

Not a latte that’s been left to cool.

It’s a combination of hot espresso with cold milk and ice.

It’s extremely common during summer or whenever the warm weather hits, and it’s really a treat of its own.

When ordering an iced latte you’ll get something very close to regular latte, but not quite the original. This is because some elements of the hot latte simply don’t translate well into the iced version.

One of the most obvious differences is the milk. Aside from being cold, it’s not frothed or steamed in any way. The foam would have a very difficult time keeping its structure over ice, resulting in a lack of microfoam or froth.

So let’s talk about the main elements of an iced latte, and see how they all come together to form this iconic drink.

Difference Between Iced Coffee And Iced Latte And How To Make Them

Looking for the difference between iced latte and iced coffee ? They’re both great drinks, but there are some key differences between them. And those might prove to be just what you like or dislike about them.

So let’s go on and see what the main differences between iced coffee and latte are, and which would be your favorite.

What Is The Best Roast For Iced Latte

Coffee beans will give you an indication on the bag of how strong tasting the coffee will be. The best roasts for lattes are medium and dark roasts because these have a medium to full body, slight acidity, and a few strong undertones. Light roast is not really recommended because the notes of a lightly roasted coffee bean can be a bit underwhelming for milky drinks.

    Which One Has More Caffeine

Latte VS Cappuccino, what’s the difference? Barista Training

When it comes to iced coffees and iced lattes, the type and amount of coffee being used are different, so it is a little hard to decipher which one has more caffeine.

For example, one ounce of brewed coffee has around 14mg of caffeine, but one ounce of espresso coffee has around 63mg of caffeine. So from first glance, it appears that the iced latte has more caffeine, right?

    Wrong!!!!!

Although espresso has more caffeine than brewed coffee, the amount of coffee being used in each drink is different.

A medium-sized iced coffee has about 12 oz of brewed coffee in it, which equates to 168mg of caffeine. While a medium-sized iced latte has 2 espresso shots, which is 2 ounces of espresso coffee and that equates to 126mg of caffeine!

So you can clearly see that iced coffees typically have more caffeine in them.

Iced Coffee Vs Iced Latte Caffeine Difference

Before getting to the difference in caffeine between the iced coffee and iced latte, its important to know which coffee youll be using for the iced coffee.

You can make iced coffee with various brewing techniques, including a French press, Hario V60, or even a Chemex. Each brewing technique has a different amount of caffeine:

    Brewing technique used:

The amounts of caffeine differ from technique and are based on using one cup of coffee per serving of iced coffee.

On the other hand, an iced latte uses two espresso shots, which comes to 136 mg of caffeine. This is calculated by doubling the amount of caffeine from a single shot of espresso, which comes in at 68 mg.

If you want to lower your caffeine intake, your best pick will be making or ordering an iced latte over an iced coffee, as it has much less caffeine per serving.

You could even use a single shot of espresso instead of a double if you want to lower your intake even further.
