The unhealthy part is sugar. One 12 oz. cup of the Chai Tea I am sharing with you, contains about 18g. of sugar . I recommend treating this drink as a dessert and consuming it in moderation.

Homemade Chai Latte Mix
With this method, you get to choose what chai spices you want to add to your chai tea latte recipe. The most common options are cardamom, black pepper, ginger, and star anise. It isn’t uncommon to find cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and even allspice.
As mentioned, though, the main benefit with making your own chai mix is that you can alter the ingredients to your own taste. Select the ingredients that you like the most and add them in a quantity that is suited to your preferences.
Now, technically, you can make a large batch of your own chai latte mix and make it up whenever you feel. For the best flavors, though, you should make it in smaller portions. The flavors of the different spices can fade with time and may not hold up as well when you brew your chai tea latte.
In any case, here is your recipe for your homemade chai concentrate:
Ingredients
- 1 tbs. of black peppercorns
- 1/4 tsp. of ground nutmeg
- 4-inch piece of ginger, sliced
- 5 cups of water
- 4 tbs. of black tea
- 1/4 tsp. of vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 tbs. of dark brown sugar

Step 5: Strain the Chai Black Tea Concentrate
Step 6: Stir in the Final Ingredients

The Act Of Generosity Is Kind In Theory But Baristas Find The Entire Pay
It sure does feel good to find out someone paid for your coffee. Whether its at a coffee shop or in a drive-thru when the barista says your coffee was paid for, the world truly feels brighter and kinder for the rest of the day. And yet, according to numerous baristas, Starbucks pay-it-forward lines are one of the habits Starbucks employees dislike.
Sure, maybe a video online of someone paying it forward inspired you, but its a hassleand its definitely one of the habits you should avoid in the drive-thru.
Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte
In the fall, all thingspumpkin spiceflood restaurants, craft stores, and kitchens. Of course, Starbucks is no different. With the arrival of the pumpkin spice latte comes the ability to use that flavoring in different ways. Since pumpkin spice is full of warm spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, it pairs nicely with chai.
This drink begins as a Chai Tea Latte. Ask your barista to include equal pumps of chai concentrate and pumpkin spice sauce: one and a half pumps for a tall, two for a grande, and two and a half for a venti. You want to ask for a little less chai than usual because you’ll be asking for some pumpkin spice sauce, and if you do not decrease the amount of concentrate, the drink will be way too thick. To finish off the drink, ask for whip on top with pumpkin spice topping sprinkles. You can do this as a hot or iced drink, so follow what seems right for you.
Though this drink was seasonally perfect, we found that the pumpkin sauce overshadowed the chai quite a bit. But if you want your chai toned down a little and sweetened, this may be an excellent drink for you, even if Starbucks’ pumpkin sauce is not your favorite. Though the pumpkin sauce flavors obscured the chai ones, it was more the spices than the actual pumpkin flavor that came through.

2. Warm up the milk on a stovetop or in a microwave until very hot. Froth the milk .

RECIPE NOTES:
If you prefer a very hot Chai Tea, add the Tazo Chai Tea Base to the milk, and heat it up together, until it reaches the desired temperature. Then froth.
Some of the dairy-free milk alternatives, don’t froth well, so your cup won’t be full, since the foam is missing. Use 4 oz. of Chai Tea Base and 8 oz. of milk in this case.

Starbucks Chai Tea Latte Concentrate:
Curious what Starbucks uses as their base? They use an ultra concentrated version of this Tazo Chai Concentrate. When you use this concentrate at home, mix it with milk or a milk substitute at a ratio of 1/2 cup to 1/2 cup or 1:1.
There are also some great recipes where you can make your own concentrate from scratch which requires buying all of the spices. This sounds delicious, but I simply dont have the time, so weve been taste testing chai concentrates and will be bringing that round-up to you very soon! What Is An Iced Dirty Chai From Starbucks
The Starbucks Iced Dirty Chai Latte Recipe is made with a chai concentrate, milk, and espresso. This is then sweetened and served over ice. It is easy to recreate this popular Starbucks order at home with a few simple ingredients.
Chai is a spiced tea, typically served in India. It is a mixture of black tea leaves that are combined with varying amounts of cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, star anise, and sometimes fennel, nutmeg, pepper and coriander.

Does Chai Latte Have Chai
What are the components of a chai latte? Cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, ginger, cloves, and star anise are some of the chai spices that are typically used to make chai lattes. Chai lattes are typically made with water, milk, and black tea. Since the majority of chai tea bags include some version of those spices, you should be OK as long as you get the appropriate variety of tea.
Use Teavana Chai Concentrate
Starbucks claims that this is the chai concentrate that they use. Due to this, if you are looking to recreate the same flavors that are in your Starbucks chai latte, then this is a good place to start.
You should know that the concentrate is still not as strong as what is used in the store. As such, you will need to double up on how much you use with this concentrate as well.

Starbucks Chai Tea Latte Ingredients
- Water. To make the chai tea concentrate.
- Chai tea bags. Thereâs a few different brands of chai tea, and you can find it at pretty much all grocery stores and Target.
- Ground cinnamon + ground nutmeg. I like to add a little extra cinnamon and nutmeg to my chai tea lattes.
- Maple syrup or honey. I like to make lattes with natural sweeteners, such as maple syrup or honey, but you can also use granulated sugar. Just make sure whatever sweetener you use, you mix it in while the chai tea concentrate is hot so that the sweetener dissolves.
- Milk. I like to use whole or 2% milk for a creamier latte that resembles a latte you would get a Starbucks, but feel free to use milk alternatives, if desired.
Do I Have To Use Cashew Milk
No, not at all. Its my favorite plant-based milk because its creamy and tastes the best to me. It also tastes more like the original chai latte made with dairy.
Almond milk will work and if youre an almond milk lover, then, by all means, use it. I dont like almond milk, which is why I mostly use cashew milk, especially in drinks.
Oat milk also works, as does regular dairy milk, if you can have dairy. But the flavor of cashew milk is really tastier here than dairy milk. We tried it.
So use whatever you like that fits into your dietary needs.
