Best For Instant: Mount Hagen
Mount Hagen is far and away the most popular brand for high-end instant coffee. Typically sold in 3.53-ounce glass jars, its more expensive than competitors like Folgers, Nescafé, and Café Bustelo, but the price is reasonable each jar yields about 50 cups of coffee, which, when broken down, is about 20 cents per cup. Mount Hagen also makes decaffeinated instant coffee. Both varieties can be found in single-serve sticks, great for camping and traveling.

Laying The Foundation For Success: 1919
Community Coffee began with Henry Norman Cap Saurage in 1919 when Saurage opened the Full Weight Grocery in Baton Rouge and began selling his own unique blend of coffee. Saurage bought a variety of freshly roasted beans from New Orleans, mixed them according to his own tastes, ground and packaged the coffee by hand, and delivered it to his local customers by horse-drawn wagon. By 1924, demand for the coffee was so great that Saurage could hardly fill all of his orders. He closed the grocery store and converted the barn in his own back yard into a coffee mill and packaging plant in order to devote himself to the coffee business full time. Saurage named his product Community in recognition of his devoted local customers. As the reputation of Community Coffee grew, Saurage began delivering his coffee to stores and restaurants.
Cap Saurage was famously meticulous about the quality of his product, and his son, H. Norman Saurage, Jr., was no different. In 1941, shortly after assuming the helm of the company, H. Norman bought a Jabez Burns Jubilee Roaster, and Community began roasting its beans in-house. By controlling this crucial phase of coffee production, he argued, the company would be able to guarantee an even greater level of quality and freshness. In 1946, production expanded further when the family built its first modern coffee roasting and packaging plant in downtown Baton Rouge. During these years, the company also began filling orders by mail upon request.

Brewing Coffee And Tea
There are plenty of options for brewing coffee and tea. Before you pick one, there are a few things to consider. First, how many people in your household drink coffee and/tea? If there are only one or two people who will drink it, you can consider a single-cup coffee maker or a small coffee maker that wont take up very much counter space. If you typically make coffee or tea for three or more people, youll want something that makes a larger pot. At Sams Club, we have a wide variety of coffee makers and tea pots. There are even espresso makers, milk frothers and fun accessories to make your morning coffee or afternoon tea time special.

Best Variety: New England Coffee
New England Coffee has a blend for everyone. There are traditional varieties like Italian Roast and Colombian Supremo. There are decaf options, K-Cups, and a list of flavored coffees. You can find everything from the dessert-like to the outlandish .
The company has been around for over 100 years, and its refreshingly affordable. Depending on the blend, a 12-ounce bag of ground coffee can cost as little as $5.
The definition of single-origin coffee varies. In some cases, it denotes coffee sourced from a single farm. In others, the coffee beans can come from multiple farms within the same region or country. Either way, the goal is the same: to retain the wonderful flavors specific to certain parts of the world, rather than mixing flavors with a blend from different areas. As a result, single-origin coffee tends to have a stronger, more concentrated taste and come from a more ethical means of production.
An unbeatable place to go for single origin is Red Bay Coffee. Founded in 2014, the Bay Area-roaster sells eight signature varieties, six of which are single origin.

Investing In Louisiana: 1988
From its first years, Community Coffee was committed to participating in and giving back to the community in which it operated. Through financial commitments, product donations, and employee volunteer work, Community contributed to civic improvement, particularly in the area of education. To this end, Community Coffee launched a program in 1988 called Community Cash for Schools, which involved community participation and resulted in monetary donations, used for equipment and supplies, to participating schools. By 2001, the 13th year of the program, Community had contributed more than $2 million and attracted the participation of 750 schools throughout the South.
By 1995, Community Coffee was selling strongly at supermarkets in six southern states, and the well-known brand was poised once again for market expansion. In September of that year, Community formed a subsidiary called Community Coffee Shop, Inc., and announced plans to start opening local coffee houses under the name CCs Gourmet Coffee House, beginning with its first location on Magazine Street in New Orleans. Community had made an appearance on the coffee house scene in the early 1980s when it opened six coupon redemption sites in Louisiana under the name Community Coffee Place. At these outlets, customers could redeem coupons for coffee and tea, as well as gourmet kitchen items. Community also used these sites to sell and serve coffee, but the venture was discontinued in 1981 due to waning consumer interest.
New Ideas For The 21st Century
In 2001, Randall Randy Russ, then acting as vice-president of operations, was elected Communitys new president and CEO. Russs stated vision was to make Community Coffee the best coffee company in the nationnot necessarily the biggest, but the best. The challenge for Russ in fostering Communitys ongoing growth and success would be to hold the company true to the values and identity of its 82-year-old heritage while continuing to innovate and keep pace with the changing times.
Community Coffee continued to grow and modernize its operations as it entered the twenty-first century. In 2000, the company launched a Web site with an online store. Community also sought to extend its presence beyond the seven states it already occupied and began marketing itself to the rest of the nation alongside other distinctive Louisiana offerings such as Tabasco sauce or Zatarains food products.

Best Overall: Stumptown Coffee Roasters
Stumptown is synonymous with the third wave of coffeea 21st-century rise in small boutique roasters. The Portland-born company crafts several delicious whole-bean varieties, as well as individual bottles of cold brew. Hair Bender is the most popular blend its flavor is intricate and unique, teeming with notes of sweet cherry and rich fudge. Other popular options include Holler Mountain, House Blend, and the decaffeinated Trapper Creek.
Stumptown is more expensive than many brands found in the grocery store, but the cost isnt outrageous. Plus, the quality and care put into the coffee is evident in every cup you drink. One issue to watch out for is that some customers who received batches from third-party vendors said the Stumptown coffee was either nearing or past its expiration date. This was not the majoritys buying experience, however, and coffee ordered from the brand website remains as fresh and tasty as ever.

Fair Trade Coffee For Your Morning Cup
As a massive commodityparticularly in the Westthe coffee bean industry is one of the largest sites of forced labor around the world. The International Labor Organization estimates that there are 150+ million child slavesworking to produce many of our everyday purchases such as coffee and cocoa.
And forced laborers have little or no rights. They are exploited for their work, and forced to endure long hours with little or no pay. These workers are also often exposed to dangerous chemical fertilizers and pesticides, causing them to contract lifelong health conditions.
When we choose to buy fair trade, we are casting a vote for the ethical treatments of the laborers who are responsible for our daily coffee. These fair trade coffee brands have made it an integral part of their mission to develop lasting, mutually beneficial partnerships by employing fair trade and direct trade practices with the farmers who cultivate their crops. Heres to drinking world-changing cups of coffee.
