Is Caffeinated Sparkling Water Good For You
There are no known serious health issues brought by drinking caffeinated sparkling water except if you have existing gastrointestinal problems. Its a better alternative to sodas, but that doesnt mean you can drink it a lot daily.
Anything excessive doesnt result in something good. For example, consuming caffeinated sparkling water one time may hardly affect you, but too much exposure to acids can weaken enamel that may lead to something serious.
What Are The Negatives
Of course, when it comes to any product, there are always negatives to look out for.
The main negative I found when browsing the Amazon reviews is the no flavor debate.
Yes, in general, sparkling waters do not contain that much flavor. Especially if you compare these to the Zero Monsters or Rockstar zeros.
But if youre used to drinking sugary drinks, youre not going to like these as much. If you dont consume much sugar, you should enjoy the subtle hint of flavor.

Are All Sparkling Waters Carbonated
Sparkling water is naturally carbonated. Its bubbles come from a spring or well with naturally occurring carbonation. ‘natural Flavors’ Remain A Mystery
To complicate matters further, USA Today notes that companies using “natural flavor” in their ingredient lists don’t need to explicitly state the origins of those flavors, while a single flavor can incorporate up to 100 different sources and, perhaps most surprising, the FDA lumps in 3,000-plus “chemical food additives” under the clearly meaningless term “natural flavors.” On the positive side, these so-called natural flavors won’t prove harmful, as Cooking Light clarifies that any ingredients used by manufacturers must pass expert and scientific review to fall under the FDA’s category of “generally recognized as safe,” or GRAS. But as long as manufacturers are not required to reveal their sources, those fruit-like essences in sparkling seltzers will remain a mystery.
Playful Packaging Distinguishes Bubly Bounce
The packaging also sets the new line apart from the traditional bubly offering with clear front-of-pack call outs under the bubly brand name that indicate the beverage is a caffeinated sparkling water. A pixilated starburst near the top of can highlights the specific amount of caffeine 35 mg a point that is reiterated again in the ingredient deck.
The polka-dots and bursts of complimentary colors that are suggestive of each beverages fruit flavors also evoke a sense of energy that isnt played out in the original bubly line-ups solid jewel-toned colored cans.
And finally, the tabs on the tops of the cans prepare consumers for the peppy effect of the beverages caffeine content with playful phrases like zing!
While many design elements set the new line apart from its predecessor, there are many commonalities connecting the products to each other including the iconic bubly brand name on the front, the stylized u-shape on the side that recalls a smile and the shared tagline of no calories, no sweeteners, all smiles.

Playful Marketing Approach Sets Bubly Apart From Competition
Even if the new line doesnt compete against other PepsiCo products, it will go up against other caffeinated water sparkling and still that already are in the market.
Harris said the bubly branding and playful approach to functional beverages will help the brand standout against the competition most of which is positioned more seriously and lacks the lively colors of bubly bounces packaging.
Were delivering on the caffeine consumers are looking for, while still making sure we always are a playful instigator that really hits on that emotional relevance as well. So, this product meets consumers in a different place than what is already on the market, Harris said.
A Diverse Marketing Strategy For An Inclusive Brand
PepsiCo is supporting the new line with a 360-degree campaign featuring Michael Bublé, who continues his antics from previous bubly commercials in which he insists that bubly in pronounced the same way as his last name.
In an ad that will launch Feb. 22, a security guard finds Bublé sitting in a darkened warehouse crossing out the y in bubly on cans of the beverage and replacing it with é. When he discovers PepsiCo is launching a gently caffeinated bubly bounce he extolls how he will now have the energy he needs to finish correcting all the cases in the warehouse.
PepsiCo also has partnered with RuPauls drag race as the official non-alcoholic beverage sponsor of the television competition, because we know that our drag queens definitely need a little kick of caffeine as they are out there competing, Harris said.
The partnership continues the brands long support of the LGBTQ+ community, Harris adds, explaining, Weve done a lot with the LGBTQ+ community over the years. We like to say were loved for all our flavors and were an inclusivity brand, that supports the community not just in June at Pride parades but all year through many partnerships and in many ways.

Passion Fruit Where Art Thou
Passion Fruit is nowhere to be found on the nose or on the palette, except possibly as a bitter afterthought. But is that what passion fruit is supposed to taste like?
No, were pretty sure its sweet, floral, a veritable tiki drink of a flavor. But this isnt the first time an appealing fruit essence has been run through the bubly flavor mill and come out on the losing, indiscernible end.
Our passion fruit associations, when it comes to sparkling water, are pretty much inextricably linked to the lush LaCroix wonder , so if youre looking for any of those vibes here, youre going to be lost in the South American vines for a while.
We really dont even understand why they bothered to tack on a Passion Fruit here, because its not expressed in any arc of the nose or the flavor profile.
Maybe, just maybe, we catch a lingering whiff of passion fruit at the very end, mixed in with the slight bitter aftertaste characteristic of all bublys, or maybe thats just the passion placebo effect.
Were pretty certain that all they did here was add some caffeine to their mango flavor and call it a day.
But ultimately, were kind of fine with that. We dont trust bubly as masterful executors of flavor, so to quote the great TLC, Dont go chasing waterfalls passionfruit, please stick to the rivers and the lakes mango that youre used to.
So, if you enjoy bubly mango and 35 mg of caffeine, youll totally enjoy this.
