Veteran Evan Hafer founded Black Rifle Coffee Company Salt Lake City, Utah in 2014. Before founding Black Rifle, Hafer served in the US Army for 20 years as an infantryman, a Special Forces soldier, and a CIA contractor according to his LinkedIn.
Other members include Tom Davin, co-CEO and Marine Corps infantry officer veteran, and Matt Best, the executive vice president and former CIA contractor.

BRCC has sponsored episodes of the “Slightly Offensive” podcast hosted by Elijah Schaffer, an employee of the right-wing media publication The Blaze.
BRCC came under fire from some members of the far-right following an episode of the podcast titled, “Kyle Rittenhouse: Homicidal Maniac or American Hero?”
Rittenhouse, a teenager who killed two protestors in Kenosha, Wisconsin, wore a Black Rifle Coffee Company T-shirt in a photo posted by “Slightly Offensive.” The show’s host also attached a discount code for BRCC merchandise to the photo of Rittenhouse.;
Hafer said in a statement that BRCC does not sponsor or have a relationship with Rittenhouse, but the company believes “in the integrity of the legal justice system” and supports law enforcement officials. Supporters of Rittenhouse have since turned on the coffee company for its position on the teen.

Black Rifle Coffee is under fire from conservatives this weekend after it came out in opposition to alleged Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse wearing their t-shirt in a photo, saying the company does not engage in legal advocacy and seemingly threatening to end its sponsorship with The Blaze for posting the photo of the 17-year-old.
Initially, Black Rifle Coffee released a statement insisting that we do not support legal advocacy efforts. We do not sponsor nor do we have a relationship with the 17-year-old facing charges in Kenosha, WI,as reported by Media Right News, who also reported that the company would end its advertising relationship with The Blaze over the image of Rittenhouse wearing their t-shirt.
Today Black Rifle Coffee appeared to walk back its decision to end its advertising relationship with The Blaze, but the company doubled down on its opposition to advocating for Rittenhouses legal defense or freedom.
Our concern is that use of the discount code in the post did not reflect our values, said a representative from Black Rifle Coffee. A discount code was used alongside an image featuring Rittenhouse wearing one of the companys t-shirts. The Blaze journalist Elijah Schaffer posted the image and suggested Rittenhouse drinks the best coffee in America.
While Schaffer deleted the tweet, likely at the insistence of The Blaze and Black Rifle Coffee, Georgia attorney L. Lin Wood posted the same image to his Twitter account.

In his vision, Army staff sergeants and Navy petty officers will leave the military and move back to their hometowns, where, instead of joining the local police department, theyll take a job at a Black Rifle coffee shop and, eventually, operate a Black Rifle franchise of their own. I would never take anything away from people that want to be police officers, but the guy thats on the fence who needs a job but still wants to be part of the team and still likes the culture and the community, Im going to get him, Hafer told me. I want him to be thinking: Man, Im going to work as a barista. Im going to work the window. Im going to move up to manager. And then after three years, Im going to get a franchise opportunity. He went on: People that are coming out of the military might be looking at going to work at UPS or FedEx or something like that. Ive got to be competitive with those guys.
Black Rifle does not and cannot expect to ever again double its revenue, as it did last year, but it projects annual sales of $240 million in 2021 50 percent higher than 2020. Considering how much of Black Rifles previous success was built on Trump-fueled divisiveness and polarization, the question is whether its ambitious projections for future growth could possibly be met without more of the same.
