How to make EASY Iced Coffee at Home with Nespresso Vertuo Plus

Ahh, the Nespresso. I can remember when I first got my Nespresso Vertuo machine years ago. It was the most exciting day.

Not only are Nespresso machines like art for your kitchen counter, but they make truly good coffee in a matter of seconds.

And, with a little extra effort, you can get delectable coffeehouse style drinks that make your every day coffee feel luxurious .

Plus, Im so glad we sprang for the bundle with the milk frother, because that has turned out to be one of my favorite coffee gadgets of all time and I use it to make incredible cold foam infused with flavors, like my homemade vanilla syrup, for coffees that are absolutely delicious.

So, today, I thought it would be fun to share about the new Nespresso iced coffee pods I just ordered and the mouthwatering recipes Im going to make with them. Also, while I bought my Nespresso and pods with my own money, the following links are affiliate links.

Nespresso Iced Coffee Recipes:

Now that weve got the Nespresso machine and those sweet, sweet iced coffee pods, its time to serve up some delicious treats.

One I try out these recipes, Im sure Ill be coming up with a few of my own and Ill share them with you. In the meantime, lets feast our eyes on these barista creations that will be sure to cool us all down for summer:

Making Cold Foamed Milk

To make a Nespresso iced latte, cappuccino, or another coffee beverage involving milk or foam, it is important to know how to make foamed milk. Foamed milk, while ending cold in the beverage, always starts steamed.

There are several options when it comes to tools that create milk foam, we provide you with a list of some of our favorites here.

When making foamed milk you will typically need one of the following:

  • A jar for hand-made foam
  • A milk foamer kettle
  • A steam wand for automatic foam

Later on in this article, we will provide the steps to follow for each foam making method or tool mentioned above. Once you have steamed and foamed your milk, simply pour the foam over ice to cool it or stick it in the refrigerator for use within 1-3 hours of foaming.

Aeroccino: A Must Have Nespresso Accessory

Most Nespresso bundles come with an Aeroccino. If your machine doesnt come with an Aeroccino, I highly recommend you purchase one when possible.

The Aeroccino froths milk with very little effort. If you use normal cows milk, you will get the best froth. BUT DO NOT FEAR! Alternative milk for those of you who are dairy free will froth too!

The Aeroccino also has a hot AND a cold setting! To make hot drinks, press the Aeroccino button once. The light will turn red and your frothed milk will stay warm. If you want an iced coffee, press and hold down the button until it turns blue. Your frothed milk will stay cold.

How To Make Iced Coffee Using A Nespresso Machine

New Iced Coffees by Nespresso in 2020

For this recipe, youll need a Nespresso machine. I use a Nespresso Vertuo, which comes equipped with an Aerocinno milk frother.

This coffee machine is amazing, and the Aerocinno milk frother is amazing to make this iced coffee with. Because this milk frother has many options to foam the milk, its perfect for this recipe.

Were going to be using the cold foam froth for this recipe, as this is an iced coffee, and we dont want to use hot milk to make it.

Make sure you have the following items to get started with this recipe:

  • Nespresso machine
  • Milk frother with a cold froth function
  • Nespresso pod of your choice
  • Half a cup of milk of your choice
  • Ice cubes
  • Your favorite sweetener

Now that youve gathered all the equipment youre going to use for this recipe its time to get started. Down below, Ive made a step-by-step guide to making iced coffee using a Nespresso machine:

1. Start by turning on your Nespresso machine and make sure theres enough water in the reservoir.

2. Preheat your Nespresso machine by running water through the machine by pressing the Lungo button once. Make sure theres an empty coffee cup to catch the water. Throw this water out and place the cup back under the Nespresso machine.

3. Now, get your milk out of the refrigerator and pour the milk of your choice in the Aerochinno milk frother and turn the machine on. Press and hold the button for 2-5 seconds until the blue circle turns on.

What Kind Of Milk Should You Use For An Iced Latte

You can use any kind of milk you want from whole to skim cows milk to almond, soy, or coconut milk. Or any kind of milk in between as long as you love it!Heavy cream and half-and-half arent recommended for lattes. Youll be adding 200ml of milk to your iced latte and the higher fat content in heavy cream and half-and-half doesnt make them a great option for this drink.

With a cup often costing more than SGD$5, coffee dates arent the most wallet-friendly option. But what if we told you theres no need to hit up expensive coffee joints for an intimate heart-to-heart? Thus we are delighted when Starbucks has launched its Nespresso-machine capsules. Honestly making Starbuck coffee have saved lots for us .

Once you have your espresso brewed, your milk and sweetener ready, fill a glass with ice. Pour the espresso over the ice. Following by adding the sweetener. Last but not least in the milk to fill the glass. As we said, its super easy to make this drink at home!

Iced Latte ratios :

  • 12 oz iced latte : 1 shot espresso, 2 tbsp liquid sweetener, 200ml of milk
  • 16 oz iced latte : 2 shots espresso, 4 tbsp liquid sweetener, 200ml of milk
  • 20 oz iced latte : 3 shots espresso, 8 tbsp liquid sweetener, 200ml of milk

We hope youll start making your own iced latte at home! Its a classic drink, however, you decide to make it, and it will cost you pennies on the dollar to make at home compared to buying it at a coffee shop!xoxo, Joe

Regular Nespresso Iced Latte

The Regular Nespresso Iced Latte is a real crowd pleaser due to its creamy texture and beautiful gradient appearance. Great for an afternoon pick-me-up, add sweetener or flavor to your latte to mix up your routine.

If you want to add some flavor, include 3 pumps of vanilla, peppermint, or any other natural flavor you choose. You can also add sugar or honey to sweeten things up.

Comparative Beverage Cost

Nespresso Iced Lattes cost slightly more to make than regular Nespresso on Ice due to the cost of the milk. The size of your beverage, whether 8 ounce or 16 ounce, will affect how much milk is needed.

Non-dairy milk is often more costly than dairy milk, so take that into consideration when purchasing ingredients for your iced latte beverage.

The Taste Factor

Everyone often uses high-quality Arabica coffee to make Nespresso

Choosing good coffee is an important step in getting a perfect cup of coffee. A delicious Nespresso is when the coffee beans are well roasted to get a rich flavour.

Most people use high-quality Arabica coffee to make Nespresso. To make espresso taste sweeter and denser, people blend Brazilian and Ethiopian Arabian coffee beans.

However, these types of coffee do not have the rich aroma and taste as ones mixed between Indonesian and Colombian Arabica. In addition, those who love coffee with a cereal taste and lighter colour can combine Peruvian and Ethiopian coffee.

If you are fond of a milder iced coffee taste with a fresh, slightly sweet taste, combine Java coffee from Kenya and Indonesia.

All of the above are popular types of coffee. Feel free to explore your options depending on your preferences.

To make a good Nespresso cafe, you need a Nespresso machine. The machine will automatically prepare every step, from grinding the coffee beans to the final product. Its very simple, just follow the following steps and you will have a delicious cup of coffee right away.

How To Use The Nespresso Barista To Make Iced Coffee

My personal favourite way to make iced coffee is with the Nespresso Barista. You can make lots of recipes in this machine, from hot coffee to an iced frappuccino but its the Iced Nitro that I particularly like.

As with the original Nespresso iced coffee above, start by taking three ice cubes and dropping them into the Baristas jug. Brew a shot of espresso over the top.

Nespresso says you can add sugar if you want it sweeter, but I prefer using a flavoured syrup to taste although I wouldnt use one with a flavoured Nespresso capsule. Then, top up the water to the maximum level marking.

Select the Iced Nitro option, hit the button and the Barista blends your drink, syrup or sugar, water and ice cubes into a fine drink that you can pour out into a tumbler. Youll get a thicker, fuller head to your drink that gives your coffee a smoother and more intense flavour.

Cons Of Purchasing A Nespresso

nepresso, iced coffee, how to make iced coffee at home ...
  • Price: This machine is not cheap like a traditional coffee maker. Its not even as cheap as most Keurigs. The machine I have, which comes with the Aeroccino, retails for roughly $180.
  • Exclusive Pods: You cant purchase Nespresso pods anywhere like you can with Keurig pods. Because of this, I normally purchase my Nespresso pods on the Nespresso website or Amazon.
  • Non-Organic Pods: As far as I know, Nespresso does not sell organic coffee pods. For some people, this is an absolute deal breaker and I completely understand why! Purchasing organic coffee is always best! If you want to keep your coffee organic, this may not be the machine for you.

My Favorite Iced Coffee Recipe

My favorite way to make iced coffee, you won’t believe how easy it is to make! Iced coffee? What? It’s cold where you’re at? Hold on a sec

Recently, Nespresso reached out to me, actually twice and said they wanted to send me a new VerturoLine machine to try out. The first time I said no thank you and and the second time, I almost said no. I have been curious though because I know some Nespresso diehard fans. I told them, I’m a fan of another single serve coffee machine and we’ll see if I like theirs too.

I’ll tell you why I fell in love with this machine. The coffees taste fantastic. The machine automatically shuts off when you don’t use it, you don’t have to remember to shut it off.

When you open the top to put in a new coffee capsule into the machine, the used one rolls off into a container on the right side of the machine. So simply designed but so functional, I love it! And lastly, the glasses they sent me to go with the machine fit sitting on the left and right sides of the machine perfectly.

It’s literally a beautiful and functionally designed machine and it’s perfect as a gift this holiday season if you’re still looking for gift ideas!

I still like iced coffee even in the winter, I know you probably think I’m crazy. Check out my recipe below or the Iceberg Latte recipe from Nespresso.

And be sure to check it out, I’m giving away a Nespresso machine too!

Best Milk Or Milk Alternative To Use

This recipe calls for half a cup of milk or 120 ml. Because milk plays a vital role in making a delicious iced coffee, I want to briefly touch on which milk or milk alternative I recommend using.

For this recipe, Ive used soy milk. This milk alternative is amazing to use as it froths super easy and tastes delicious at the same time.

But because there are so many milk choices and alternatives, I know it can be quite overwhelming.

Keep in mind the following when picking the milk of your choice:

  • Cows milk, like 2% fat, gives off amazing foam. Which will look and taste amazing for this recipe.
  • Any milk alternative will foam up a bit, but not the same amount as cows milk.

If you want that foamy and creamy milk on top of your iced coffee, I recommend using cows milk. This will give you the best foam possible. The air bubbles it produces are amazing.

Do you want to use a milk alternative? Choose one that suits your flavor. If youd like your iced coffee to have a slight coconut taste, go with coconut milk and so forth.

Neutral flavors will work best for this iced coffee. Because you want to taste the coffee, avoid using a milk alternative where the coffee completely disappears.

The choices are endless, and Your Dream Coffee is all about finding and brewing your favorite coffee that suites your flavor profile.

Ingredients For Making Iced Coffee

The ingredients for making espresso are still coffee beans with strong flavours. The nice thing about making iced coffee by using this method is that you can choose your favourite coffee flavour.

You need to prepare the following items:

  • Nespresso coffee machine
  • Ice cubes
  • Sugar or sweetener, coconut, vanilla

Above are the ingredients you need to make a delicious iced coffee. Below will be the steps on how to make coffee.

Best Nespresso Coffee Pods To Use

Nespresso Iced Coffee How To!

This is the most important part of this iced coffee recipe. You will need to choose your favorite coffee pods of Nespresso to use. But what if you dont have any experience with Nespresso pods? This is where I come in.

Because of the amount of milk used in this recipe, you want to pick a Nespresso pod with a good amount of flavor in it.

The coffee pods that I recommend for this recipe are the coffees that have been dark roasted.

These coffee pods start from level 9 of the intensity scale of Nespresso. Choose an espresso variant for this recipe to really give that amazing iced coffee feeling.

If youd like to use a Lungo pod instead of an espresso coffee pod, please feel free to do so. But be careful with the amount of milk youre going to add.

The Lungo pods will produce more coffee than the espresso pods, and you might want to add less milk to balance it out.

Also, make sure the Lungo coffee pods are strong in flavor. You need to balance the flavors between the milk and the coffee a bit.
