Rule 8 Beware The Heat

How to make delicious coffee, lattes, and mochas (tutorial)

Water that is too hot will extract compounds in the coffee that are bitter rather than pleasant. The proper water temperature for brewing is 200°F, or about 45 seconds off a full boil. Once brewed, don’t expect coffee to hold its best flavors for long. Reheating, boiling or prolonged holding on a warming platform will turn even the best coffee bitter and foul-tasting.

Filter Once And Let It Sit

Let the bottle sit for about 3-4 days. You will see that the bottle has acquired a small amount of whatnot. Filter this out through the aforementioned coffee filter thats not a paper coffee filter. Clean out the bottle and put the mix back in.Now let the bottle sit for a few months. This is a liquor, it will do better the longer you leave it . Recipes I’ve found from Italy suggest up to 3-4 months. How long can you wait? Perhaps you might take this opportunity to make several bottles of it, so that when the day comes you can enjoy it for quite awhile.

Why Is It Called Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona coffee gets its name from dalgona, a spongy South Korean coffee candy. I actually got to try some when I was in South Korea this past December. It is similar to the type of honeycomb found in American Butterfinger or British Cadbury Crunchie candy bars. The candy has a bubbly texture and surface, appearing very similar to the pockmarked texture of dalgona coffee foam against the side of a glass.

Although I know this drink as dalgona coffee, Ive seen many tutorials that call it by other names. The most common variations include names that describe the coffees appearance: fluffy coffee, frothy coffee, and whipped coffee.

When shopping for coffee, the best rule of thumb is to buy whole beans and grind them yourself. Coffee starts to go stale after it has been ground because oxidation begins affecting its flavor.;

Coffee that has already been ground when you purchase it has likely lost much of its freshness by the time it reaches your cup in this condition. If possible, buy the beans in small quantities to ensure that they are fresh when you use them. Coffee tastes best when it is used within two weeks of being ground, so dont be afraid to discard coffee if its been sitting unused for more than a few days.

Grind At The Correct Coarseness Setting

Different brewing methods require different grind sizes to make great coffee. But how do you know if youre using the right size? There are two really easy ways to tell: time, and taste. With our pour over recipes, we aim for the coffee to be brewed in about three and a half minutes. If the coffee brews too quickly, it means the grind was too coarse. If it brews too slowly, it means the grind was too fine. Additionally, if a coffee that tastes too acidic and sour it usually means the grind was too coarse, and if it tastes too bitter, it means the grind was too fine. Generally speaking, espresso requires a fine grind, pour-overs and AeroPress require a medium grind, and French Presses require a coarse grind. And Dont Forget About Water Temperature

âð?HOW TO MAKE DELICIOUS COFFEE FILTER TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS

Remember how most coffee pots dont even get up to the right temperature?

As a rule, your brewing water should be between 195 and 205 degrees.

In this range, the water extracts the yum flavors from the coffee fast enough for most brewers without over extracting the bitter flavors.

  • Under 195 degrees too slow extraction sour coffee
  • Over 205 degrees too fast extraction bitter coffee

Check your local elevation, because the higher you are in altitude, the lower the temperature your water needs to boil.;

  • Sea level: 212 degrees
  • 5,000ft: 202 degrees
  • 7,000ft: 198 degrees

So if you live at sea level, you need to give your water a couple minutes to cool after it boils. At 3,000 feet, youre safe to use your water right off the boil. And if youre all the way up in 7,000 feet, you better start brewing immediately as it boils to ensure you stay in the right temperature range.

A Small Portion Of Coffee Is The Best Coffee

Surely youve heard the recommendations of the Turks to acquire the smallest size. In them, they say, the coffee is much tastier. Did you notice that coffee shops prepare ten cups of coffee in a roasting pan for ten small pots, and not one more? Why? Why is it so difficult? Everything is straightforward. When trying to cook at one time a stable dose of coffee designed for a few people, we are in danger of not only violating the proportions, but also not being able to digest the drink. To achieve excellence and an undistorted taste of lots of coffee at the same time is really quite tricky. A number of heating rates and brewing approaches must be experimented with in order to select the right combination. Still, there is no accounting for taste.

Where Do You Find Good Coffee

And this is why I drink Peets coffee in my home.

Peets Coffee is obsessed with freshness. Fresher coffee makes a more flavorful cup. Thats why they roast to order and deliver;directly to your grocery shelves, ensuring their coffee gets to you faster and fresher than anyone else. Youll never have to worry about old flavorless coffee when you buy Peets brand.

Peets has been roasting coffee for more than 50 years and understands good coffee and its importance. It all started on Vine and Walnut Streets in Berkeley, CA where Alfred Peet opened his first shop in 1966 with one goal, to make coffee, unlike anything America had tasted before. Today, they abide by his exacting standards to deliver the richest, most flavorful cup, using only the worlds finest beans, hand roasting in small batches, and never compromising on freshness.

Not all brewing methods are created equal, so youll want to choose something that works best with your lifestyle . For an even, mild pot of coffee, an automatic drip coffeemaker is your best bet.
