Nespresso Creatista Plus By Breville Review

Ive been a delighted owner of the Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus since May of 2021. Before getting the Creatista, I would often go to coffee shops when I wanted something more indulgent than what I could make at home with the very basic drip coffee maker. Now I can easily make milk-based espresso drinks at home by just pressing a few buttons. Not only is it nice to look at on the kitchen counter, but the Creatista drinks are tasty and it has helped me save both time and money. Keep reading for my full review.

Pros:

Design And Build Quality

The Nespresso Creatista is one of the best-looking Nespresso machines available. This is thanks to its gorgeous rounded design stainless steel body. This portioned coffee machine is also available in Black Truffle, Sea Salt , and Damson Blue colors.

Another highlight is its large high-resolution color display, which sits on top of the machine. Below it is the Start/Cancel button, and a rotary dial for selection purposes.

Like many Nespresso machines, this one is compact, measuring 6.7W x 12D x 15.4H inches. A width of just 6.7 inches means you should be able to easily find space in your kitchen without too much re-arrangement.

Diving into a bit more detail, on the left side of the machine is the coffee dispenser. Beneath it, there is a pop-out drip tray for smaller drinks such as ristrettos, espressos, and lungos. This is to minimize the vertical distance coffee must travel between the dispenser and your cup. It is a thoughtful addition since this will help keep your coffee hot.

On the right side is the steam wand which is used with the stainless steel milk jug that comes with this machine.

There is a lever on top of the machine, that is lifted to insert the coffee capsules.

The water tank sits behind the machine and can be conveniently removed.

Overall, the Nespresso Creatista Plus has a beautiful design that feels premium – even more than other higher-level super-automatic espresso machines! It will definitely look impressive in your kitchen.

Setup Process: Takes Time To Get Familiar With All The Parts

The setup process for the Nespresso Creatista Plus Espresso Machine took about 20 to 30 minutes. This isnt atypical for an espresso machine because the user has to prime the machine and get familiar with all of the included parts.

What was unique and convenient about this setup was that I didnt have to thoroughly read the user manual. Instead, the manual referred me to the display menu to follow on-screen prompts and carry out the priming process. I rather enjoyed this because I could just follow the prompts on the screen at my own pace. It had me run water through the machine several times to clean out its interior system. I also washed all of the removable parts with warm, soapy water. Once the espresso machine was primed, I found that it was easy to navigate from there.

The Nespresso Creatista Plus Espresso Machine is ideal for anyone who wants quick and easy espresso drinks. It does the majority of the work and produces a consistent result every time.

To use the machine for espresso or ristretto , lift the lever on the top, insert a capsule, and close the lever. Next, choose the desired drink on the screen using the dial to sort through the various options. Press the start button to the left of the dial and let the machine do the rest.

I would strongly advise against this product. Bought it 9 months ago, after 4 months a lot of trouble with milk foam: 1/3 of the time, the machine makes a very loud noise, gives a lot of bubbles, milk is flat and lukewarm. Has been back for repair, received it back without repair with dent in it!, and device just won’t work. Nespresso service is really worthless, it is sent from cupboard to wall, then I have to descale again, then I get a new steam head, then I have to use long-life milk, then I have to clean the machine better. But I can tell you, I clean completely, descale very often, and only use Nespresso cups.

The Creatista Plus is amongst the most advanced Nespresso machines available, full of features to customize your drink and make your life as easy as possible.

It boasts an impressive 3-second warm-up time – the fastest we’ve seen on any espresso machine.

It can brew three main sizes of espresso drinks. These are the ristretto , the espresso , and lungo . What’s more, the coffee volume of these drinks can be customized, as follows:

• Ristretto: 0.85 to 2 oz
• Espresso: 0.85 to 2 oz
• Lungo: 2.37 to 5 oz

This machine also comes with an impressive set of milk configuration settings – rivaling high-end automatic espresso machines. The milk temperature can be programmed using 11 settings, from 133 to 169 degrees Fahrenheit. The milk froth can be adjusted from 0.08 to 1.2 inches using 8 settings.

There are a total of 7 drinks you can select from, using the Select Dial, and then press the Start/Cancel button. These are: ristretto, espresso, lungo, flat white, café latte, cappuccino, and latte macchiato.

If your drink uses milk, you will need to place the milk jug on the temperature sensor.

In terms of cons, this machine does not come with a water dispenser. So you won’t be able to make an Americano with this machine alone, you will need a separate kettle.

What Is The Difference Between The Creatista Pro And The Creatista Plus

The key differences between the Nespresso Creatista Pro and Creatista Plus are:

• The Creatista Pro can brew and steam simultaneously, whereas the Creatista Plus cannot.
• The Creatista Pro has a larger HD touchscreen, whereas the Creatista Plus uses an HD color screen with a button and a knob.
• The Creatista Pro has a larger water tank than the Creatista Plus.
• The Creatista Pro has a hot water dispenser whereas the Creatista Plus does not.

Nespresso Creatista Plus Overview

Nespresso has two lines of capsule-based espresso machines:

• OriginalLine: Their original line that used a 19 bar pump to extract shots from capsules
• VertuoLine: Their new line that uses Centrifusion to extract shots from barcode-enabled capsules but also brews standard coffee up to 17 oz

For our money, OriginalLine machines are better than VertuoLine machines because their pump produces more authentic espresso, the coffee tends to be hotter, and there’s no barcode scanning system meaning you can find less-expensive third-party capsules.

The Creatista’s draw is its swivel frothing arm, which gives you total control over your milk foam â something Lattissima series doesn’t offer. Instead, Lattissima machines are about one-touch convenience for people who want hands-off cappuccinos and lattes.

Note: You don’t need to froth your milk manually! The Creatista is fully capable of frothing your milk for you. Just leave the milk frothing pitcher on the temperature sensor below the frothing wand and let the machine do its thing.

Ease Of Cleaning: Daily Cleaning Required Steam Wand Self

The Nespresso Creatista Plus Espresso Machine requires cleaning after each days use. The used capsule container needs to be disposed of daily. Additionally, the drip tray, water tank, and lid need to be washed and dried. If the milk jug was used, that needs to be washed and can be placed in the dishwasher.

Whats nice about the steam wand is that it does an automatic steam purge after it has been used. However, I still had to clean the outside of the wand with a wet cloth to wipe off the dried milk. The user manual also suggests filling the milk jug with just water and selecting the milk function on the display to further clean the wand. The water should then be discarded.

I found the cleaning process to be fairly standard for an espresso machine. In total, it probably took about 10 to 15 minutes to clean each day.
