    How Cold Coffee Originated

There are no records and very few documents that mention cold coffee. So we dont know much about the history of iced coffee.

Over time, this drink has spread all over the world and different peoples have reinterpreted it according to their own culinary traditions.

According to one of the most reliable theories, the original iced coffee originated around 1840 in French Algeria. Mazagran was a drink made from coffee syrup, cold water and sugar. Its name is linked to the legion of French soldiers in Algeria who invented it.

When these soldiers returned from Africa, they brought the coffee recipe with them and introduced the concept of cafés to France.

Since then, many recipes and variations of iced coffee have spread around the world.

Among the most popular versions are frozen coffee drinks, similar to the Italian granita coffee, and coffee prepared and then iced.

In the 1920s, iced coffee boomed thanks to a marketing campaign by the Joint Coffee Trade Publicity Committee in the United States.

But its worldwide diffusion came with the birth of large chains such as Burger King, Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks, which built an empire on coffee.

Can You Put Hot Coffee On Ice

ICED COFFEE HACK? QUICKLY CHILL COFFEE WITHOUT ICE!

Technically, you can simply pour hot coffee over ice. But I wouldn’t recommend it!

The ice will water down your coffee, and it won’t get as cool either … and perfect Iced Coffee needs to be quite cold.

If you’d prefer to make your drink with hot coffee, then I’d recommend using coffee ice cubes instead of regular ones … that way your coffee won’t be diluted and watery tasting. To make coffee ice cubes, simply fill an ice cube tray with leftover coffee, then freeze overnight.

In the morning, stir a few coffee ice cubes into your freshly-brewed coffee. The cubes will cool off your coffee without watering down the flavor like regular ice would. Once your coffee has cooled, stir in sugar and milk to taste, then top off with regular ice or more coffee ice cubes.

Pour room temperature coffee into the glass.

Fill it almost to the top.

Pour in the white stuff. Heres where you get to make a big decision. Do you want to go all out and make this a decadent treat? If so, then add cream or half & half. If you want to go a little lighter, use whole milk or fat-free half & half. And lighter still, use nonfat milk.

Take a moment to watch the swirls sink to the bottom and mix in with the coffee. Its a magical moment. ð

Add a couple spoonfuls of sugar or whatever sort of sweetener you usually add to your coffee. In the recipe notes below, I share how to make sugary simple syrup in case you prefer to use that instead of granulated white sugar.

Add a purple straw. If youre a straw person, that is. And drink up!

    • Dissolve one packet of Waka coffee into about 3 or 4 tablespoons of room temperature filtered water
    • Stir until all coffee crystals are dissolved
    • Add around 8 ounces of cold filtered water
    • Stir and add desired amount of ice
    • Taste and flavor with cream and sugar

If you didnt make liquid sugar sweetener beforehand, you can easily dissolve some sugar in a little hot water and add it to the iced coffee.

Because the coffee is cold to begin with the hot water wont make a noticeable difference. This is what I do and it works great. Because WAKA coffee has citrus flavor notes I dont find it needs much sugar.

First, lets be clear: Iced coffee is not the same as cold brew. They are both popular kinds of cold coffee, but there are important differences.

    Making The Iced Vanilla Latte

HOW TO MAKE ICED COFFEE AT HOME USING ONLY 3 INGREDIENTS

Vanilla lattes are so easy to make and you dont need to splurge on an expensive vanilla bean to get good flavour with this syrup. Like the rest of the syrups here, the formula is pretty straightforward. Make a plain simple syrup by mixing boiling water and sugar together, then add in your flavouring of choice.

For this vanilla latte, I used plain old artificial vanilla extract but you could use the more expensive pure extract or opt for the vanilla bean if you can find them. But really, the vanilla latte is the easiest of all to make. Like the machiatto, start with an empty cup full of ice. Brew two espresso shots and pour them over the ice, then stir in 1 cup of milk and add vanilla syrup to your taste. Yum!
