Nespresso Launches Limited Edition Iced Coffee Capsules
Nespresso has launched a new range of limited edition iced coffee capsules.
The coffee brand announced two brand new exotic flavours for their Barista Creations For Ice range the Limited Edition Coconut Flavour for Original machines and the Limited Edition Tropical Coconut Flavour for Vertuo machines both in aluminium capsules.
All the capsules are expertly created specifically for coffee prepared over ice.
Thanks to popular demand, Nespresso has also brought back the Original Iced Coffee Blends: Barista Creations Freddo Delicato and Freddo Intenso, as well as the Barista Creations Ice Leggero and Ice Forte.
The Original Coconut Flavour Over Ice will set you back £4.50 for a sleeve of 10 and the Vertuo Tropical Coconut Flavour Over Ice will cost £6.20 for 10. These can be purchased on the Nespresso website.
You will then be able to recycle the aluminium capsules through the recently launched PodBack scheme.
Podback sees a new way for Nespresso, NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto, Tassimo, LOR and Starbucks at Home pods to be recycled.
They can can be collected at a Yodel drop-off point or via a kerbside collection for people living in Cheltenham Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council regions.
The pods are then processed and made into items such as garden furniture, car parts and cans.
The coffee grounds are used to create biogas and soil improver.

Coconut Flavor Over Ice Review
A limited edition of coconut flavored coffee for cold drinks.
Light brown foam. The coconut smell is strong and immediately identifiable, even from afar. Very sweet aroma overall, with hints of vanilla and delicately roasted coffee.
Dry and light-bodied, timidly bitter at the first taste, especially when drank hot, less so as a cold coffee. Weak crema.
Nutty aftertaste, with a burning feeling left at the back of the mouth. It is a vague effect but peculiar. Not overtly sweet, more like a raw coconut than a sweetened coconut milk. Some woodiness and cereals can be tasted throughout the drinking experience, reminding of the exterior of a coconut.
A low intensity pod that has plenty of coconut flavor and works as a gentle cup of coffee when drank hot. Sugar or milk greatly enhance this capsule, bringing out more of its innate sweetness and keeping its nice acidity.
As a cold coffee, drank over ice as suggested by Nespresso, it is a vibrant pod, with more pronounced roastiness and a great acidity in the aftertaste. It still requires some sweetener to enrich its taste profile and bringing out the best out of this capsule though. Unsweetened and cold is more a regular espresso, lightly roasted and with a bit of coconut flavor.

How To Use The Nespresso Barista To Make Iced Coffee
My personal favourite way to make iced coffee is with the Nespresso Barista. You can make lots of recipes in this machine, from hot coffee to an iced frappuccino but its the Iced Nitro that I particularly like.
As with the original Nespresso iced coffee above, start by taking three ice cubes and dropping them into the Baristas jug. Brew a shot of espresso over the top.
Nespresso says you can add sugar if you want it sweeter, but I prefer using a flavoured syrup to taste although I wouldnt use one with a flavoured Nespresso capsule. Then, top up the water to the maximum level marking.
Select the Iced Nitro option, hit the button and the Barista blends your drink, syrup or sugar, water and ice cubes into a fine drink that you can pour out into a tumbler. Youll get a thicker, fuller head to your drink that gives your coffee a smoother and more intense flavour.

Its Summer and Nespresso has launched two limited edition capsules inspired by Australian Iced Coffee. The collection includes two capsules, Long Black Over Ice and Flat White Over Ice. I usually drink my coffees hot and never occurred to me that I could make an iced beverage with the Nespresso. Silly me.
Both coffee blends have recommended On Ice recipes, to which you can incorporate Nespressos limited edition Moningourmet syrups including vanilla, caramel and coconut flavours.

How To Make Vertuo Iced Coffee
With a Vertuo machine, you generally get a longer cup of coffee. The dispensed amount can be found on the side of the box and on the underside of the capsule. I recommend going for a glass thats roughly twice the size of the drink you want, giving room for the liquid and the ice.
Making iced coffee with the Tropical Coconut Flavour over Ice, I started with a 500ml glass. Roughly fill it with ice youre looking at around six regular-sized ice cubes . Adjust ice and cup size depending on the size of your cup if you use Vertuo espresso capsules, then check out my advice for making coffee with an original Nespresso machine below.
Next, put the glass under your Vertuo machine , and insert your chosen capsule into the machine. Tap the button and let the coffee brew as normal, over the ice. Given that theres a lot of ice in the cup, the hot coffee brews as normal but will cool instantly.
Once the coffee has brewed, youre ready to drink it. You may want to leave it a few minutes to fully cool. Generally, as the ice floats to the top, you get a warmer section at the bottom of the glass that can take a while to cool.

How To Make Original Nespresso Iced Coffee
With original Nespresso, youre best using espresso capsules . You need to pour them over ice I recommend a regular tumbler or an old-fashioned glass for this.
Start with a few ice cubes .
Load up your Nespresso machine with your choice of capsule and then pour a shot of espresso over ice. Once finished, your drink should be cold and ready to drink.
You may find that the drink is a bit too intense, but you can adjust the flavour by adding water or cold milk into the glass. Dont add more than around 90ml of additional liquid, or youll just have a rather horrible cup of coffee-flavoured water.
