How The Vanilla Iced Coffee Comes Together:

To make the iced coffee recipe, I added a shot of my homemade vanilla syrup, along with 1/2 c. of the cold brew coffee over coffee iced cubes. FYI making coffee ice cubes is a great way to not end up with watered-down iced coffee. From here, youll add half and half , or your choice of milk. Voila!! Youve got an amazing iced coffee drink in just moments!

Is half and half not your thing? Here are some other milk suggestions that are great in this iced coffee:

  • Whole Milk, 2% or Skim Dairy Milk
  • Heavy Cream

Making The Iced Vanilla Latte

Vanilla lattes are so easy to make and you dont need to splurge on an expensive vanilla bean to get good flavour with this syrup. Like the rest of the syrups here, the formula is pretty straightforward. Make a plain simple syrup by mixing boiling water and sugar together, then add in your flavouring of choice.

For this vanilla latte, I used plain old artificial vanilla extract but you could use the more expensive pure extract or opt for the vanilla bean if you can find them. But really, the vanilla latte is the easiest of all to make. Like the machiatto, start with an empty cup full of ice. Brew two espresso shots and pour them over the ice, then stir in 1 cup of milk and add vanilla syrup to your taste. Yum!

Can You Store Leftover Iced Coffee In The Fridge

Iced Coffee Cup (#1 Plastic)

Yes and no. This really depends on how much of a coffee snob you are to be honest. If you’re used to a fresh brew, storing any leftovers in the fridge may not be a good idea. Cold brew typically lasts 2-3 days in the fridge if you’ve covered it properly the flavours will last a bit longer because it’s brewed cold.

However, drip coffee that has been chilled has a shorter shelf life before the robust coffee flavour starts to disappear and become stale. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it for more than 24 hours. However, there will be nothing inherently wrong with the coffee other than the taste so feel free to go ahead and judge by your taste buds.

For many people, mornings are easier with some fresh coffee first thing. Hot coffee is great in the winter, but warmer weather inspires the desire for colder beverages. Iced coffee can be made as quickly and easily as regular hot coffee you just need the right brewer. Once your coffee is ready, pour it over ice, add your favorite sweetener or creamer and get a great start to your day.

Why Are Freshly Ground Coffee Beans A Better Choice

Freshly ground coffee tastes better than pre-ground coffee. Before you decide that only pretentious coffee know-it-alls would say this, hear us out. There are a few reasons to back up this claim. The real deciding factor is the taste, but lets get into the science of it first.

  • Oxidation When you grind coffee beans, you start the oxidation process, and air molecules and coffee compounds mix. When this happens long before you brew with the coffee grounds, flavor and aroma are released from the beans too early, before the grounds reach you.
  • Moisture Moisture in the air can degrade coffee grounds. Humidity is the enemy of coffee grounds, which is why coffee is best stored in a dark, dry place.
  • CO2 Reduction Carbon dioxide transfers oil from coffee beans to coffee, and grinding creates more room for carbon dioxide to escape. Grinding beans right before you brew reduces this CO2 escape.
  • For these three very important reasons, creating a cup of coffee at home should ideally begin with grinding beans fresh. The quality of taste and aroma will be superior to any pre-ground beans you can buy.

    Iced Coffee The Final Result

Iced pour over coffee, because its made with hot water, has all the flavors, acids, bitter compounds, and aromas of regular hot coffee. However, the instant chilling accomplishes a few things.

    • The aromas remain in the coffee. Aromatic compounds evaporate rapidly when hot, but when cold, they tend to stay within your glassand that leads to a pleasant flavor boost.
    • Your tongue interprets the flavors differently. Your taste buds work differently at low temperatures. The acids seem a bit crisper and the coffee tastes a bit sweeter, among other things.

In the end, you have a rich glass of iced coffee that has all the flavors you would expect in hot coffeeexcept now theyre extra sweet, crisp, and refreshing.

From choosing the best beans and selecting the right milk to stirring vigorously, heres all you need to consider for a delicious summer drink

Buying an iced coffee can be hit and miss. Although it is absurdly simple on paper coffee served over ice and stirred with milk there are all manner of variables that can affect quality. So, perhaps its best you just make your own. I spoke to Stuart Wilson, the founder of Whitstable-based speciality roastery Lost Sheep Coffee and Lynsey Harley of the Fife roastery and Edinburgh cafe Modern Standard, on how to make the perfect version at home.

Cold Brew Coffee The Final Result

Cold brewing, because it uses cold water, creates a final brew thats chemically different from hot coffee. Like with iced pour over coffee, those aromatic compounds stay in the coffee and boost the flavor. Unlike iced pour over coffee, the cold water brewing results in less acidity and bitternessup to 66% less!

This makes cold brew taste incredibly smooth and sweet. Many coffee skeptics actually discover they like cold brew because its so smooth.

Cold brewing has another fundamental difference from iced pour over brewing: it doesnt make ready-to-drink coffee, it makes a concentrate.

This concentrate is super strong by itself, which is why we typically dilute the concentrate with water and ice to create the drinkable cold brew constitute. This makes it a lot easier to customize the strength of your iced coffee, but thats not all. There are actually a ton of ways you can use cold brew concentrate.

    • Mix with hot water. This gives you a hot cold brew coffee. Its smooth and sweet like cold brewjust hot.
    • Mix with milk. Cut the concentrate with milk to create a cold brew iced latte of sorts.
    • Mix with soda water and syrup. Add simple syrup to the concentrate and top with your favorite soda water to make a cold brew soda.

There are hundreds of interesting cold brew recipes that break beyond the usual uses of coffee. Cold brew mocktails, cold brew cocktails, cold brew cookingbecause its a concentrate, its really pretty flexible.

Are You Someone Who Loves Iced Coffee I Am Sharing 20 Of My Favorite Easy Iced Coffee Recipes You Can Enjoy All Year Round

REVIEW Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee French Vanilla Bottle On The Go TASTE GREAT!

Its the time of the year where I switch from hot coffee to homemade iced coffee. I love sitting in the warmer weather with my iced coffee. I have some friends though who love their iced coffee not only on hot summer days, but even in the dead of winter! I swear, a cup of coffee is a good idea any time of the day.

I hate buying Iced Coffee though because it is always more money when you getting a big glass of ice! These recipes are for delicious iced coffee with no extra cost.

Making my own iced coffee has been apart of my coffee routine for a couple of years now. One of my favorite ways to make the perfect iced coffee is to pour coffee into ice cube trays and then you have coffee ice cubes for the next time you want ice coffee.

Or the easiest way is to make homemade coffee concentrate by pouring room temperature black coffee into a large container and refrigerating it.

I either use extra coffee in the pot or just make a new pot of coffee.

    What Is A Vacuum

The phrase vacuum-insulated pops up all over the place when searching for reusable coffee cups and mugs. Its also commonly used with another phrase: double-walled. Both labels denote that a reusable coffee cup is built with two different layers, an inner wall and outer wall, and that the space between the layers is partially evacuated of air, creating a vacuum. This design allows drinks to retain their temperature for a longer period of time because they are less exposed to outside air.

    Other Methods I Tried

If you have the patience for pourover, try flash-brewing onto ice.

The best iced coffee for you depends on what style of coffee brewing you prefer overall. Im an espresso drinker, so its not shocking that I love the methods above. But if youre passionate for pour-over, you may want to try Japanese-style iced coffee in your Chemex or other dripper. Moser recommends substituting about 40% of your water with ice, which means for 12 ounces of iced coffee , youre going to use 25 grams of medium-finely ground coffee, 250 grams of hot water , and 150 grams of ice in the decanter that youre brewing into. He sets up the weighed ice in the vessel under the pourover filter, then starts with the first 65 grams of water and a quick stir, waiting 45 seconds to let the bed of coffee get saturated, then adds 80 grams more, then the last 115 grams. The ice that chills the brew will also dilute it to its proper strength. The whole process takes about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. To be honest, its more than I can handle early in the morning, though the flavor does a decent job of capturing coffees refreshing, fruity side.

You can use any kind of milk you want from whole to skim cows milk to almond, soy, or coconut milk. Or any kind of milk in between as long as you love it!

Heavy cream and half-and-half arent really recommended for lattes. Youll be adding 8 ounces of milk to your iced latte and the higher fat content in heavy cream and half-and-half doesnt make them a great option for this drink.

Do You Froth Milk For An Iced Latte

If youve ordered a hot latte from a coffee shop, then you know that hot, frothy milk is poured into a cup with espresso. Great baristas often make pretty latte art with the steamed milk.

But for an iced latte, theres no need to froth your milk. The reason for this is because hot milk will melt your ice. So you want to use cold milk for iced lattes.

Using cold milk means that making iced lattes is much faster than making hot lattes since you dont have take the time to steam the milk. Plus! Theres no extra clean up of the milk steamer.
