What Is A Cappuccino
A cappuccino is a perfect combination of a shot of espresso, velvety steamed milk, and smooth milk foam. It is often served with a sprinkle of cocoa powder on top for a sweeter taste.
Unlike most of the coffee varieties which are named either from how theyre made or the ingredients they include, the cappuccino was named due to a different reason. The term cappuccino came from the red-brown color of the robe which Capuchin friars of the Capuchin order wear.
There are several variations when it comes to cappuccino. Some people use cream instead of steamed milk, while others use non-dairy alternatives. Other cappuccino variations include iced cappuccinos, wet cappuccinos, dry cappuccinos, and flavored cappuccinos.
Also, there are cappuccino variations that make use of flavored syrups, which are very popular in the United States. Most flavors include chocolate, mocha, vanilla, peppermint, cinnamon, and caramel. To make the drink more visually inviting, some people create art on top of the milk foam or sprinkle the milk foam layer with cinnamon or cocoa.

The key distinction between an iced cappuccino and an iced latte is the amount of milk that is used in each beverage. The primary distinction between the two beverages is that an iced cappuccino will have a lower ratio of milk to foam, while an iced latte will have a higher ratio of milk to foam. These iced coffees are each distinctive and wonderful in their own way thanks to the many ways in which they differ.

Macchiato literally means marked, as it is an espresso marked with a spoonful of foamed milk on top.
Nowadays you can find countless different variations of the macchiato including the caramelly Starbucks one and a tall macc with so much milk that it is basically a miniature latte. Technically, however, a macchiato is simply an espresso with a tiny dash of milk.

I recommend the following if you cannot choose between these great coffees:
- If you like a very balanced coffee drinking experience, ordering a cappuccino will be best.
- Are you a fan of less coffee and more milk? Then it would be best if you went with a latte.
- If you like stronger coffee, a macchiato will be best for your taste buds.
After reading through the article and my recommendation above, I think that you can choose which coffee fits you best.
However, if you want to experience some fantastic coffee, I highly recommend ordering all coffees yourself and tasting them. This way, you get the best experience, and youll never have to ask yourself if youll like it.
Other Types Of Latte Drinks
Lattes can be made with a variety of flavored syrups, such as caramel or vanilla.
A mocha is a latte with chocolate added to it.
Some coffee shops and aficionados prefer to top a mocha with whipped cream and a drizzle of hot chocolate rather than the traditional half-inch of foamed milk.
Latte macchiatos take the standard ingredients of a cafe latte and invert them: first, the milk is steamed and poured into a cup with the requisite amount of foam, then the shots of espresso are added on top so that it stains the milk layers with coffee.
Teas can also serve as a base for latte drinks.
A chai latte, a drink made with spiced black tea, is a popular choice and can be made with or without an added shot of espresso.

Calories In Coffee And Nutrition Information
From flat whites in Australia to espresso in Italy, there are about as many types of and ways to drink coffee as there are people who drink it around the world. But your average cup of regular black coffee offers the following calories and nutrition info, according to the USDA:
On average, an 8-ounce cup contains 95 milligrams of caffeine, per the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. That measures out to about 71 milligrams of caffeine in a 6-ounce pour or 143 milligrams in a 12-ounce serving. But that’s just an average: Eight ounces of coffee from Starbucks clocks in at 155 milligrams of caffeine, per the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
Many of us drink coffee specifically for its caffeine content, but caffeine can cause unpleasant side effects, such as anxiety, sleep disruption, restlessness and a fast heart rate, per the U.S. National Library of Medicine. On the flip side, if youâre in the habit of enjoying caffeinated coffee, quitting that daily habit â especially cold turkey â can lead to headaches, irritability and other withdrawal symptoms.
French Vanilla Swirl Iced Coffee
French vanilla is the second-sweetest syrup at Dunkin’. We were worried that this would taste like French vanilla nondairy creamer, but we were pleasantly surprised at how real the vanilla tasted. It had very little of the strange fake taste we’ve come to associate with bargain-priced vanilla coffee products. Instead, it tasted like high-quality pure vanilla paste or vanilla extract.
The combination of the vanilla and creamy flavors along with the slightly smoky notes of Dunkin’s iced coffee was reminiscent of toasted marshmallows. Dunkin’s coffee has a slightly chocolatey character to it, and the vanilla and cream enhanced that. This drink reminded us of s’mores. As with the other sweetened syrups at Dunkin’, the French vanilla was quite strong, but it covered up the coffee less than the mocha or caramel syrups did. It was sweeter than we would’ve liked, but we could imagine many people enjoying this level of sweetness in an iced coffee drink.

Caramel Craze Iced Signature Latte
We know weve spent a lot of time complaining about how heinously sweet Dunkin coffee drinks can be, so it might come as a surprise that such a sugar-forward drink is sitting in the top spot. The thing is, for us, Dunkin isnt a place to go for normal, unflavored coffee. Its a place to get a caffeinated dessert when you feel like treating yourself. Many of the sweeter drinks on Dunkins menu didnt really work for us, but the Caramel Craze iced signature latte was a perfectly-executed sugary coffee beverage.
This latte was quite sweet, but it also had complexity and depth of flavor. The caramel tasted like brown butter, vanilla, and toasted sugar. The espresso added some chocolaty notes, and the whipped cream on top added a bit of childlike whimsy. The thing that sealed the deal for us was the sprinkle of cinnamon on top. That hint of spice made the whole drink taste yummier, and we got a little bit of cinnamon in every sip. If youre prepared for a sugar rush followed by an intense crash, this drink is the tastiest iced coffee on Dunkins menu.
Starbucks Vs Dunkin Vanilla Latte
The vanilla latte might be the most famous coffee drink of my generation. Im a young Gen-X/Millennial. Lattes are just what you order if youre from that generation and consider yourself a real coffee drinker. I cut my fancy coffee drinking teeth on the vanilla latte. Im an expert.
I did this comparison differently than the first 2. Lactose creamers dont sit well with my stomach, so I usually get coconut milk.
But Dunkin only offers oat milk and almond milk. Almond milk was added as the creamer, and I got an extra shot.
I love a good vanilla latte. They arent necessarily from just Starbucks. I was excited to jump in and taste the 2 side by side.
Heres how it went.

Cold Brew With Caramel Cold Foam
This is the best cold brew drink on Dunkins menu. We already liked the regular cold foam, and the caramel flavoring in this added a flavor depth without bringing a bunch of unnecessary sweetness to the drink.
Compared to other caramel drinks from the chain, this felt refined and restrained. There was still plenty of caramel flavor, but you could taste the coffee clearly as well. The caramel did a better job than the sweet cold foam at hiding the off-flavor of Dunkin cold brew, which was nice. The caramel itself had a pleasant vanilla and brown sugar flavor. Were not sure if Dunkin uses the same caramel in the cold foam as it does in all its other drinks, but it tasted very different in this context. We didnt feel like we just ate a whole candy bar after finishing this, and we could imagine drinking it with breakfast.

You keep doing you, Dunkin.
Starbucks, you let me down, but Im loyal. So I wont be switching any time to a Dunkin loyalist.
Dunkin also won because the upcharges were less and the overall price was almost $1.30 less for the better version of the drink.
Color me surprised. I like a good challenge, and Dunkin, you stepped up to the plate. I give the latte win to Dunkin on almond milk quality and price.
This one hurt, but Dunkin has the better vanilla latte with almond milk and an extra shot.

Which Is Better An Iced Cappuccino Or Iced Latte
It depends on what youre looking for. An iced cappuccino is more textured and has more foam, while an iced latte is more smooth and creamy.
Maybe youve already chosen which coffee suits you better. If thats not the case, I suggest the following:
- Go with the iced cappuccino if youre looking for something creamier, frothier, and stronger in flavor.
- An iced latte is better if you want an iced drink with less coffee flavor and a more milk-forward taste.
Personally, I like the iced cappuccino better. This is mainly because it has a more robust coffee flavor, which I prefer.
However, both drinks are equally as refreshing, and you cant go wrong with either of them. I especially like that you can customize it to your liking by using various add-ins!
