Bmi Limitations For Liposuction Surgery
Prior to your surgery, we recommend that our patients be at or near their goal weight, ideally within 10-20lbs of the target. This applies not only to our procedure for liposuction in Maryland, but virtually any kind of surgical procedure, especially when focuses around body contouring surgeries, such as an abdominoplasty, liposuction, or Brazilian butt lift . These surgeries often address developments that have resulted from significant weight loss, such as stubborn pockets of fat and sagging skin. Being near the goal weight prior to surgery ensures that the procedure will attain the desired result.
Secondly, it is essential that our patients maintain a healthy weight after the procedure, as any significant weight fluctuations, be it weight loss or weight gain, can negatively impact the final results.
And lastly, and more importantly, the biggest reason that physicians emphasize the need for patients to be within BMI limits is it plays a major role in the potential complications associated with surgery. Taking these factors into account is paramount for both the surgeon and the patient, as reducing any possible surgical risk ensures a successful procedure.
Potential Breakage Or Leaking
Occasionally, breast implants may break or leak. Rupture can occur as a result of injury or even from the normal compression and movement of your breast and implant, causing the man-made shell to leak. If a saline-filled implant breaks, the implant will deflate in a few hours and the saltwater will be absorbed and naturally expelled by the body.
If a silicone-gel-filled implant leaks or breaks, the newest generation, highly cohesive silicone gel usually remains within the implant shell. A ruptured implant filled with silicone gel may not deflate and may not be noticeable except through imaging techniques such as an MRI.
The Power Assisted Liposuction Surgery
The time required to perform liposuction may vary considerably, depending on the size of the area, the amount of fat being removed, the type of anesthesia, and the technique used. There are several liposuction techniques that can be used to improve the ease of the procedure and to enhance outcomes.
Liposuction is a procedure in which localized deposits of fat are removed to contour one or more areas of the body. Through a tiny incision, a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is pushed then pulled through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them out.
The suction action is provided by a vacuum pump or a large syringe, depending on the specifics of your surgery. If many sites are being treated, Dr. Cappuccino will then move on to the next area, working to keep the incisions as inconspicuous as possible.
Fluid is lost along with the fat, and it’s crucial that this fluid be replaced during the procedure to prevent shock. For this reason, patients need to be carefully monitored and receive intravenous fluids during and immediately after surgery.

The Best Candidates For Eyelid Surgery
The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Most are 35 or older, but if droopy, baggy eyelids run in your family, you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.
A few medical conditions make blepharoplasty riskier. They include thyroid problems such as hypothyroidism and Graves’ disease, dry eye or lack of sufficient tears, high blood pressure or other circulatory disorders, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. A detached retina or glaucoma is also the reason for caution check with your ophthalmologist before you have surgery.

Preparing For Your Abdominoplasty
During your consultation, youll get specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins, and medications.
If you smoke, plan to quit at least one to two weeks before your surgery and not to resume for at least two weeks after your surgery.
Avoid overexposure to the sun before surgery, especially to your abdomen, and do not go on a stringent diet, as both can inhibit your ability to heal. If you develop a cold or infection of any kind, your surgery will probably be postponed. Whether your surgery is done on an outpatient or inpatient basis, you should arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery, and to help you out for a day or two after you leave the hospital, if needed.

A breast augmentation in Maryland by Dr. Cappuccino can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won’t necessarily change your looks to match your ideal or cause other people to treat you differently. Potential Risks And Uncertainties With Liposuction
Liposuction is normally safe, as Dr. Cappuccino works to select his patients carefully and utilizes an operating facility that is properly equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Risks increase if a greater number of areas are treated at the same time, or if the operative sites are larger in size. Removal of a large amount of fat and fluid may require longer operating times.
The combination of these factors can create greater hazards for infection delays in healing the formation of fat clots or blood clots, which may migrate to the lungs and cause death excessive fluid loss, which can lead to shock or fluid accumulation that must be drained and friction burns or other damage to the skin or nerves or perforation injury to the vital organs. There are also points to consider with the newer techniques. For example, in UAL, the heat from the ultrasound device used to liquefy the fat cells may cause injury to the skin or deeper tissues. Also, you should be aware that even though UAL has been performed successfully on several thousand people worldwide, the long-term effects are not yet known.

If You’re Considering Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery is a procedure to remove fat–usually along with excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision.
Eyelid surgery, however, won’t remove crow’s feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of your ethnic heritage. Blepharoplasty can be done alone or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift or browlift. Is The Tummy Tuck Right For Me
Youre likely right for the tummy tuck surgery if youre in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won’t respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.
Women who plan future pregnancies should wait, as vertical muscles in the abdomen that are tightened during surgery can separate again during pregnancy. Its important to recognize that this is not a weight loss solution. To be right for this procedure, you should be at or near your target weight.

Bmi Limitations For Tummy Tuck Surgery
At our practice, we recommend that the patients BMI be under 35 before undergoing surgery, but this number is not set in stone, and there are always exceptions to the rule. Though, it is recommended that the patient be at or near their goal weight prior to meeting with their prospective physician. There can be an exception, however, for people that have already lost a substantial amount of weight. Patients who have lost 100 pounds or more may still be eligible for surgery despite being over a BMI of 35.
The main takeaway is that a lower BMI before undergoing a Tummy Tuck procedure is highly recommended for best and safe results. While at a high BMI the risks associated with having surgery far outweigh the rewards. It is our practice’s responsibility to take into account the potential complications involved in any procedure before going forward with the process. We recommended that patients consult with an experienced doctor either at the time of consult or before making their decision.

Eras Protocol Ultrasound Blocks And Exparel
Dr. Cappuccino believes that great surgical outcomes begin before surgery. Dr. Cappuccino employs the ERAS protocol which involves preoperative electrolyte drinks and non-narcotic medications to optimally prepare your body for surgery. After induction of anesthesia, Dr. Cappuccino places ultrasound guided nerve blocks using Exparel, a long acting local anesthesia that can numb the abdomen for up to 72 hours. This can decrease the amount of general anesthesia and narcotic required during surgery which facilitates a smooth wakeup with less chance of postoperative nausea. Most significantly, these nerve blocks greatly diminish postoperative pain and most patients do not require narcotics for pain management.

Getting Back To Normal
You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job. Every procedure is different, so Dr. Cappuccino will give you specific instructions for your recovery period.
Your breasts will probably be sensitive to direct stimulation for two to three weeks, so you should avoid much physical contact. After that, breast contact is fine once your breasts are no longer sore, usually three to four weeks after surgery.
Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. Then they may remain the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. After several months, your scars will begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.
Routine mammograms should be continued after breast augmentation for women who are in the appropriate age group, although the mammography technician should use a special technique to assure that you get a reliable reading, as discussed earlier.
