How to Make a Starbucks Chocolate Almond Milk Shaken Espresso AT HOME

I like to top my shaken espresso drinks with cold foam. I make my cold foam in a milk frother on the cold setting.

If you do not have a milk frother you can use these other methods for making cold foam:

  • Handheld milk frother whisk the cold milk in a jar with a hand whisk
  • French press pour milk into a french press and push the plunger up and down vigorously until the milk froths
  • Glass jar Pour milk into a glass jar and shake vigorously until the milk froths

How Much Is The Starbucks Shaken Espresso

This depends on the size you pick as well as the specific ingredients used to make it. For instance, if you choose Starbucks shaken espresso in a grande, you will be charged between $3.95 and $4.25. On the other hand, if you ask for Starbucks shaken espresso with non-dairy milk instead of the 2% milk used, you will be charged between $5.45 and $5.95.

    Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

First things first, this brown sugar shaken espresso is all about the brown sugar simple syrup.

What is simple syrup? Simple syrup is made by diluting sugar in water to form a syrup. You can really use any kind of sugar to make a simple syrup, even honey.

We love that this coffee drink uses a brown sugar simple syrup because its warm and bold. Its also super easy to make. Our brown sugar simple syrup is made with the addition of ground cinnamon and salt for a seriously epic sweetener.

  • Place water, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, and salt in a small saucepan.
  • Turn heat to medium high and whisk until the brown sugar has dissolved.
  • Turn heat down to low and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer into an airtight container and let cool before storing in the fridge for up to 5-7 days.
  • Try it!

How To Make Starbucks Shaken Espresso At Home

I love being able to make this shaken espresso at home. Its perfect for a morning or afternoon pick me up. After you have gathered all your ingredients you should also grab:

Step 1 Make the brown sugar syrup

In a small sauce pan add the brown sugar and the water. Bring to a boil and allow to simmer for 5 minutes or until the syrup thickens and reduces. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Dont want to make your own syrup? Try a pre-made brown sugar syrup.

Step 2 Make and chill the espresso

Make your espresso. You can use an espresso machine, if you have one. You can also use really strong coffee or instant as well. Just make sure the coffee is hot. Pour the hot coffee in a martini shaker filled with ice. You can also use a shaker bottle or a mason jar with a lid. Seal the lid and shake until the outside of the container is cool.

    Step 3 Sweeten and enjoy

Pour your chilled shaken espresso into a 20 oz cup filled with more ice. Add in your brown sugar syrup and top with your oat milk. Stir and enjoy!

How To Make An Espresso Shot Without A Machine

If you dont own an espresso machine , youre going to love this simple immersion method!

To make an espresso without a machine boil water and be sure to let it cool for about 20 seconds

Place 3 tablespoons of medium fine ground coffee into a small glass. Pour about ½ cup hot water over it. Stir to combine.

Cover with a saucer or a lid and steep it for 3-4 minutes. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain into a cup. I like to let it settle for about 30 seconds before using. Then its good to use in your recipe.

What To Use Instead Of Espresso For Lattes

How to Make Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso | Shaken Latte| Starbucks Copycat recipe

Before we got an espresso machine I used to use 2-3 teaspoons of instant coffee mixed with 3 tablespoons of hot water instead of espresso in my lattes!

You could also go with regular brewed coffee instead of espresso. That would make this drink a bit different but desperate times, call for desperate measures.

How To Make One At Home

To make your Starbucks Iced Shaken Espresso at home, the first thing to do is to gather your ingredients for it. Next, make sure you have the machines needed to make the drink. As mentioned earlier, you can use Nespresso to make the espresso. You will also need a cocktail shaker.

If you dont own one, a jar with a lid you can screw to it tightly will do. Then you can start with making the simple syrup first. You can also brew or make the espresso alongside making the simple syrup if in a hurry. Its best to have a weeks worth of simple syrup ready, however, if you want to make copycat Starbucks drinks easier and faster. Simple syrup is just sugar melted in water. Weekly batches of the simple syrup are easy and quick to do at the beginning of every week.Once you have your simple syrup and espresso shots, you can pour them into the ice-filled cocktail shaker or jar. Tightly seal the shaker or jar with the lid and shake the drink away.

You can play with this along with the 2% milk used in your homemade Starbucks Iced Shaken Espresso copycat drink until you find the mix that you like best. You can easily customize your homemade Starbucks Iced Shaken Espresso copycat drink. You can use vanilla syrup, for instance, instead of simple syrup.

You can also use other personally-preferred sweeteners. You can opt for non-dairy milk instead of the regular dairy for the 2% milk you add to the mixed drink.

Well, technically you can’t make a shaken espresso drink hot since the whole technique behind shaken espressos is to shake the coffee with ice.

Why Is Shaken Espresso So Popular

If you have ever wondered what makes shaken espressos so popular and you have already tasted it, then the answer is an easy one. Its very delicious.

  • The drink is customizable and is easy to make even at home.
  • You will experience light smoothness due to the aeration and chilling in the shaker that makes this drink incredibly refreshing.
  • A delicious and long-lasting froth that is infused with flavor.
  • Shaken espresso has plenty of caffeine to power you through the day.

The Best Coffee Roast For Iced Shaken Espresso Recipe

Making Starbucks Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso At Home with Nespresso [easy recipe] Shelly Rui

To prepare a great cup of Iced Shaken Espresso, you will have to use dark roast coffee beans for the espresso base.

Depending on the method you will use to prepare the espresso, you will have to use different roasts. Some of them I described in the table below.

    COFFEE BREW TECHNIQUE
    Dark or medium roast

These are my tips for the different roasts that you can choose from, and you can modify them based on your preferred taste profile.

A fascinating combination is also using a lighter roast with an espresso machine when making espresso.

Starbucks offered a light roast in the form of iced coffee before, but the addition of brewing it in an espresso machine is making it even better.

Using the AeroPress or Moka pot, you can select a dark or moderate roast that will give you the espresso-like strength of coffee and some depth.
