Replace unhealthy sugar-filled creamer with this great tasting protein packed creamer!Here is the ingredient label to Coffee Mate creamer powder:Note: They say 1 tsp is a serving. Who ever uses only 1 tsp.?According to their;label:;1 gram is carbohydrates ;+ .5 g;is saturated fat;+ .5 g;is other stuff.;That means;Coffee;Mate is 50% corn syrup solids , and 25% fat. The sodium caseinate is at least 15 % of the formula,;probably;a little bit more, because the rest of the ingredients are listed as being;less than 2% .This is a cool way to read an ingredient label, huh?

Whats In Coffee Creamer

Here are the ingredients in what was my favorite brand :

  • Water
  • Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oil
  • Sodium Caseinate
  • Phosphate
  • Natural and Artificial Flavors
  • Carrageenan

Overall, not a very pretty picture. First off, there are waaaaay too many ingredients here for a very simple mixture . Second, there is partially hydrogenated oil which is very bad for you, along with a slew of very processed ingredients.

Now, here are the ingredients for my healthy homemade creamer recipe:

  • Almond milk
  • Raisins
  • Arrowroot starch
  • Pure vanilla extract

All whole ingredients, all waaaaay better for you. All just as tasty as the fake stuff youve been used to.

Customize Your Coffee Creamers Ingredients

When you make homemade coffee creamer, you can tailor the ingredients to suit your dietary needs. For example, you can choose to make a non-fat or a full-fat creamer to enjoy with your morning coffee. You can even make a dairy-free homemade coffee creamer!

And when it comes to sweeteners, you have lots of options. For a simple sweet flavor, Sucanat, coconut sugar, or date sugar all work wonderfully. For a bit of a maple flavor, you can add maple sugar.

But the fun begins when you decide how to flavor your powdered coffee creamer. Here are just a few of the ingredients you can add:

  • Vanilla flavored sugar or vanilla powder
  • Different spice mixtures
  • Coconut powder
  • Dried mint
  • Cocoa powder

  • Heavy cream or dairy-free canned coconut cream for a dairy-free alternative. Simply shake the coconut cream can before opening and measuring to blend all the layers present in the can.
  • Unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk for a coconut flavor.
  • Erythritol thats your sugar-free sweetener in this recipe. Other sugar substitute options that are keto-approved include sugar-free monk fruit syrup, stevia drops, allulose.
  • Pumpkin pie spices if you cant find the ready-made spice blend in-store, use a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves, and ginger altogether.
  • Pumpkin puree I am using ready-made unsweetened canned pumpkin puree made with only 1 ingredient: real pumpkin puree, no additives.;Learn how to make your own pumpkin puree.
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Vanilla extract

Heat and whisk heavy cream, almond milk, sweetener, pumpkin pie spices, and pumpkin puree into a small saucepan.

Add in the cinnamon stick and bring over high to medium heat until the liquid boils. Boil for 1 minute, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and cool 15 minutes in the pan, uncovered.

Finally, remove the cinnamon stick from the saucepan and transfer the sugar-free pumpkin spice creamer into a glass mason jar.

A good friend once said to me, “drinking tea is like getting a friendly;handshake, but drinking coffee;is like getting a warm;hug.” ;It’s so so true.

I look forward to the warm embrace of a good cup ‘o joe every morning with my breakfast. ;I;do like a touch of sweetness and creaminess in my coffee though ! That’s where this Homemade Healthy Coffee Creamer comes in!

I used to use store-bought;non-dairy creamer. However,;;one morning;I went to pour some into my cup and;it “glopped” into my coffee. Yes, I used the word glopped because I can’t think of a better way to describe it! ;I;was totally freaked out.

The creamer;wasn’t expired and it didn’t have a funky odor. But it;was;thick and gelatinous and….so not natural! That was the final straw! I was determined to make my own dairy-free creamer that tasted amazing but had no chemicals or weird “gloppy” properties.

If you’re a creamer user like me, you will love that this Paleo Vanilla Coffee Creamer is just slightly sweet but adds a wonderful, deep, complex, vanilla flavor to your coffee!

How To Make Healthy Coffee Creamer

Let’s walk through the steps in making this healthy vanilla coffee creamer and don’t forget to watch the video.

Begin by putting the ingredients into a small saucepan and whisking to combine.

;Next, warm the mixture until it just begins to boil then remove the pan from the heat. Be very careful not to actually let it boil, because it will result in a big mess!

Next, scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and stir them into the warm paleo coffee creamer mixture. Then add the whole vanilla bean pods.

After the vanilla beans and pods are added, cover the pot, and let it sit for 30 minutes for the vanilla bean flavor to really infuse into the healthy coffee creamer.

Choose a large glass jar and place a;fine mesh metal sieve over it. Strain the vanilla coffee creamer into the jar and discard the vanilla bean pods.

Can I Add This Creamer To Bulletproof Coffee

Im one of those Would you like some coffee with your creamer? type people. Coffee in and of itself is boring and bitter to me. But I do enjoy its benefits upon occasion. So, to enjoy it, I must make it palatable. Enter: creamer. And lots of it!

However, store-bought creamer, even though it is so very yummy, is also so very unhealthy. Its chock full of yucky things like sugar and preservatives.

Since Ive been doing Trim Healthy Mama, I decided some on plan coffee creamer was in order. So I started making my own! And really, it could NOT be any easier. It contains so few ingredients, its so fast to whip up, and it tastes so very good!

What Is In Sugar

If were talking store-bought creamer, its full of words that you cant pronounce that can come with some creepy side effects. From the CoffeeMate site:

Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil , Corn Syrup Solids**, Sodium Caseinate ***, Natural and Artificial Flavors, and Less than 2% of Dipotassium Phosphates, Mono- and Diglycerides, Salt, Sodium Aluminosilicate, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium , Yeast. **Adds a Trivial Amount of Sugar. ***Not a Source of Lactose.

So um, quick show of hands when youre making coffee at home, who here is reaching for some hydrogenated vegetable oil? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Sure, people make and drink bulletproof coffee, but the ingredients above most certainly are not for that.

How To Remove The Seeds From A Vanilla Bean Pod

To remove the seeds from a vanilla bean, follow these instructions:

  • Cut the bean in half .
  • 2. Carefully slice each piece of the vanilla bean lengthwise with a very sharp knife.; Make shallow cuts that do not go all the way through the pod.

    3. Use a small spoon and scrape out the seeds on the inside of the bean.

    4. Stir the spoon with the vanilla seeds into the coffee creamer mixture and repeat with the remaining pod pieces!

    What To Limit & Avoid

    DIY Non Dairy Flavored Coffee Creamers

    Always pay attention to what you put in your drinks, including your coffee and especially your coffee creamer.

    Black coffee is always keto-friendly, but its the ingredients you can add to it where you need to be careful. Even just a teaspoon of sugar can be too many carbs for your daily intake, and honestly just may not be worth it, hence the reason we brought you a low carb creamer.;

    Things to limit and try to avoid when it comes to coffee creamers are:;

    • Different varieties of milk products Heavy cream is your best keto milk option, but regular milk or other kinds of nut milk that are SWEETENED will add more carbs than necessary.;;
    • Artificial Sweeteners This is what you want and need to avoid. Consuming anything artificial is not a healthy option, and can cause upset stomachs or other health issues.;
    • Added Sugars Avoid using cane sugar or any products that contain sugar.

    Sweeteners For Keto Coffee Creamer

    When I was drinking coffee before this pregnancy I was just using half and half most of the time. When I started drinking it again I really wanted it a bit sweet to cut the bitterness. I love my sweetener blend of xylitol, erythritol, and stevia and I love Trim Healthy Mama Gentle Sweet but occasionally stevia can give me a headache. That happens more often with cold recipes than something that has been cooked.

    I always keep my options open so when I tried a monk fruit sweetener in my coffee I was sold. It was very similar in taste to sugar and didn’t have an aftertaste. I made this coffee creamer to simplify my mornings. It keeps in the fridge for about a week and a little goes a long way.

    How Can I Sweeten My Coffee Without Sugar

    My recipe has just three simple ingredients milk, vanilla, and dates. While I use heavy cream for my own consumption, you are welcome to choose any milk that you like to drink.

    To make this paleo: use a non-dairy milk with some creaminess to it like coconut or cashew.

    • Prep time: 5 minutes

    Its amazing how many homes Ive been to that have plenty of coffee and tea, but no creamer to be found. What you want us to be happy with plain old milk? Or that nasty powdered substitute? I dont think so. This recipe is for all those friends and family whove hosted me and dared to forget that if Im going to have coffee, there’d better be something sweet, creamy and naturally flavored to turn that bitter drink into a hot sip of heaven.

    Were going to share with you two ways to make your own creamer one dairy, the other vegan and sugar-free. Whichever way you choose, homemade coffee creamer gives you control over the things that matter ingredients, flavor and sweetness. And to top it all off, you can drink easy knowing there are no chemicals or artificial ingredients in your morning joe.

    For Vanilla & Sweetened

    • 1/2 cup raw cashews, soaked at least two hours and up to 12
    • 1.5 cups purified water for blending, more for soaking
    • 1 tablespoon raw honey OR real maple syrup
    • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • small pinch of sea salt

    Method: Drain your soaked cashews and discard the soaking liquid. Rinse well. Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Turn the blender to the lowest setting and turn on, then slowly work your way up to a higher setting. Blend until smooth, about 2 minutes.
