Descaling Nespresso Vertuo Plus With Vinegar Is A Workable Hack

Nespresso Vertuo Plus – Descaling & Cleaning

Nespresso does not recommend using vinegar, and it cautions in its user manual not to use vinegar because it can damage the machine.

Regarding the fact, that does Vinegar works? The majority say it does work as a descaling agent and is a money saver, but some are not happy with the smell it brings, and they complain about rinsing the machine several times and still have a stinky machine and a bitter coffee taste.

Light Blinks Red Twice Than Steady Orange

This indicates that you are in the special function menu. Here, you can choose the specific function you desire by pressing the lever.

There are four special operations available in the function menu cleaning, resetting to the default factory setting, emptying the machine, and descalingwhich are all outlined in the Vertuo Plus manuals special functions section it also includes the instruction for using the lever to activate them. Press once for descaling, twice for emptying the system, and three times for factory reset.

To leave the menu, push the button and the lever simultaneously for three seconds. The light will go steady green if you successfully leave the menu.

How To Fix The Orange Light Blinking Twice Per Second

When the specific light status occurs, your Nespresso machine needs a quick cleaning session. Here are a few steps that you can follow to clean your Nespresso machine.

  • Open the head of the machine. Use a paper towel and dump it in cold water. Gently clean the area where you place coffee capsules. Also, clean the head which is exposed.
  • Wash the water tank and refill it with fresh water.
  • Clean the capsule container and place it back in its position.
  • Take a mug of 14 oz or more and place it under the coffee spout.
  • Close the head of the machine.
  • Now press the button three times in two seconds. The light will blink at the start, and in two minutes, the water starts flowing. The water will complete three cycles of going through the pipe. It will take approximately five minutes.

I shopped for a coffee machine with a milk frother. In the bundle, it is a good deal than buying it separately. I have a manual frother and was happy with it. However, now I use only my Nespresso Aeroccino3 Milk Frother. The reason is convenience! Just pour milk into the milk frother up to one of two max levels and push the button. I mostly use my frother without the frothing spring in it. If you prefer to make froth without spring and need to remove the spring, store it in the lid as in the photo. This way you never going to lose the spring. I like after use keeping the whisk on the top of the lid for sometimes, to make sure it dries out well before I place it back on a magnetic stick inside the frother.

If you keep pouring water into the tank your machine will never exit the descaling mode. After you have successfully run the descaling and rinsing cycle do not fill the water again. Otherwise, your machine will get stuck in the descaling mode indefinitely and you will get tired of filling the water again and again without having a cup of coffee.

How I Organized My Nespresso Vertuo Pods With Holder

Nespresso – Understanding Nespresso and our Coffees | SG

I organized my Nespresso pods with the vertuoline coffee capsule holder you see in the photo above. I bought it on Amazon and am very happy with the performance and especially the price! The price is probably the cheapest I can find on the market. My Nespresso vertuo coffee pod storage is made out of plastic and has a metal rod it is best for my needs. The holder is easy to assemble, sturdy, and spins easily.

I was shopping for some time before making my decision. I was looking for a coffee pod organizer where I can place a variety of different pads and have access easy to every capsule I placed there. Another reason attractive look is because my Everie rotary coffee pod capsule holder looks like a Christmas tree to me and makes me good mood every morning! I rotate my coffee capsule organizer to make a decision on which coffee I like this morning and each of the 40 capsules I can easily access. It holds 40 capsules at a time but if I have to I can place a few additional pods on the top. My other pods I keep in sleeves in my cabinet.

*In the photo above you can see some of my coffee pods I placed in a plastic container. I learned with storage in the container we can easily bend the bottom of the capsule because it is very fragile.

You can find in the market a few kits to refill the capsules. It gives us the opportunity to fill capsules with your own favorite coffee, so we can make coffee with crema on the top as a coffee shop. Just make sure the coffee is a fine grind and it maybe works. It makes our coffee capsules less expensive and increases the variety of flavors. I did research and learn about but I dont try yet this method for a few reasons.

  • To do a refill I need to clean the capsule and refill it, then seal it. It is time-consuming.
  • I dont think it is approved to use with my machine by the Nespresso company and it may negatively affect my coffee machine performance.
  • I am satisfied with the variety of Nespressos original vertuo capsule flavors.

This one can get a bit complicated.

But there are a few things you can do before starting to panic:

    • Make sure your water tank is full and in the right position. Your Nespresso machine wont make coffee if the water tank isnt full or in the right spot.

    Ill say this:

Ive been in situations with coffee brewers many times where I thought the machine was broken. Most of the time, however, something just wasnt hooked up right.

Or I forgot to turn on the machine.

Keep in mind Im a trained barista, so anyone can make simple mistakes with their machines.

That brings me to the next common issue.
