How Many Calories Are In A Pump Of Chai Tea At Starbucks

Starbucks Matcha green tea latte/ 80 calories starbucks drink/ Iced Chai tea latte

Be specific about your syrups

Each flavored pump packs in about 20 calories and five grams of sugar.

also, How many calories in a dirty chai from Starbucks? Dirty Chai Tea Latte

The Dirty Chai Tea Latte is the same as a regular Chai Tea Latte, but with an espresso shot mixed in. You can enjoy the Dirty Chai at only 240 calories, and you can bring that sugar content down by asking for fewer Chai pumps.

Does a chai latte have sugar? Beware the Coffee Shop « Chai Latte »

You can mostly thank chai powder mixes for this sugar spike. Theyre crammed with sugar, so that a single small « chai latte » may contain 20 grams or four teaspoons of sugar. Add in extra syrups famous in some coffee stores and you can see how you might get yourself into a sweet mess.

Nitro Caramel Cold Brew

The nitro caramel cold brew is a great substitute for an iced coffee! The nitro caramel cold brew, or even the regular black cold brew is a leansanely tasty choice! This drink only contains 30 calories!

To order this drink:

  • Order a nitro caramel cold brew
  • One pump of caramel syrup
  • 3 pumps of sugar free vanilla syrup
  • Can either have it black, or with a dash of cream if you prefer
  • This drink is super lean and tasty! It is also perfect for a pick-me-up drink, since it contains a ton of caffeine! Another benefit of this drink is that it is a lot smoother than your typical iced coffee!

    Homemade Vs Store Bought

I recommend making homemade chai tea concentrate versus buying the concentrate at the store. Here’s why I prefer the homemade version:

    • Lightly sweetened. When making homemade chai tea concentrate, you control the sweetness! I like my lattes lightly sweetened, and I think that you’ll find just 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey is the perfect amount of sweetness. Store bought chai tea concentrate is very sweet, but it is what they use at Starbucks. If you like really sweet lattes, then either up the amount of sweetener in the homemade version or buy the concentrate at the store.
    • Easy to make. Making chai tea concentrate at home is super simple and requires minimal hands on time. Bring water to a boil, add chai tea bags, cinnamon, nutmeg and sweetener, then let steep for 10 minutes. That’s it. I recommend making extra to store in the fridge!
    • Strong chai spice taste. I personally think that the homemade version has a stronger chai spice taste. I feel that the spices in the store bought version get overtaken by the sweetness.

    Chai Concentrate From Tea Bags

This is my favorite method because chai tea bags are easy to find and have a long shelf life. You can also use as much of any sweetener of choice or make a sugar free chai latte. You can easily whip up a small or large batch of the concentrate and you only need 2 ingredients, chai and water. I steep 2 tea bags in about ½ cup of boiling water for about 8 minutes. Sweeten with honey, sugar, brown sugar, stevia, monk fruit, Splenda, etc.

    Black Nitro Cold Brew

This is definitely a lean favourite of mine! I order this all the time at Starbucks! Now this drink is the perfect substitute for a black iced coffee! Despite what you might think, a typical iced coffee comes sweetened, unless you order it unsweetened and black! The black nitro cold brew is a lot smoother than iced coffee and tastes better unsweetened!

    To order this drink, simply:

  • Order a black nitro cold brew
  • Unsweetened with no added milk
  • This drink is perfect for all the squadies out there practicing intermittent fasting! This drink has 0 calories and WILL NOT BREAK YOUR FAST!

Whats In The Starbucks Chai Tea Latte:

Starbucks Healthy Drink Swap: Dirty Iced Chai Latte

The Starbucks chai tea latte uses a base of a chai tea concentrate that has the traditional chai spices:

    • Cardamom
    • Cloves
    • Star Anise

These, combined with strong black team, create the orchestra of flavors known as chai. But, know that chai is easily customizable, so each coffeehouse has their own take on the chai with Peets being on the spicier side and Starbucks having a more cinnamony and less kicky chai.

The flavor is sort of like pumpkin pie without the pumpkin its warm and comforting and tasty.

For the chai tea latte, this concentrate is mixed with your choice of milk and then ice is added and voila! Deliciousness is served.

Sometimes, they shake it in the shaker and thats when its the best ever because it gives it some froth. Yall know we are all about the froth here at WTF.

We have noticed that the depth of color is different based on milk choice. Heres a picture of one with regular milk. Notice its lighter in color. Also, I drank some before we took pictures. Sue me.

So, you can see that milk choice not only effects taste but color. I find the oatmilk brings out the flavors even more.

    Vanilla Chai Tea Latte

A regular chai tea latte, hot or iced, is a combination of chai concentrate and milk.

One customer-favorite drink modification is to order a vanilla chai latte. Your barista creates this latte by incorporating a few pumps of regular vanilla syrup or sugar-free vanilla syrup.

Other simple syrups like cinnamon dolce or gingerbread are equally delicious in a chai latte.

Just keep in mind, additional syrup increases the chai lattes overall sweetness.

    Skinny Chai Tea Latte

Starbucks used to have a lightly sweet chai tea latte. However, they no longer carry the less sweet chai concentrate.

This means its not possible to get a skinny chai at Starbucks made from their delicious tea concentrate.

But you can substitute the standard 2% milk for non-fat milk or an alternative such as almond, oat or soy.

And if you can wait a few minutes, your barista can make a skinny chai tea latte by brewing Teavana chai tea bags and adding a steamed non-fat milk or milk of your choice.

We thought youd never ask! We love dirty chais here at WTF. They are made exactly like a chai latte, just with an added espresso shot or two. This does change the flavor profile a bit, which is why we did a dirty chai taste test that compares dirty chais from Starbucks, Peets and Dutch Bros. Read it here.

    Starbucks Chai Tea Latte Concentrate:

Curious what Starbucks uses as their base? They use an ultra concentrated version of this Tazo Chai Concentrate. When you use this concentrate at home, mix it with milk or a milk substitute at a ratio of 1/2 cup to 1/2 cup or 1:1.

There are also some great recipes where you can make your own concentrate from scratch which requires buying all of the spices. This sounds delicious, but I simply dont have the time, so weve been taste testing chai concentrates and will be bringing that round-up to you very soon! So far, the Tazo is our favorite, because it has the same flavor profile as Starbucks chai tea lattes, but we want to try a few before making our final decision.

Can You Make Starbucks Chai Tea Latte Copycat In Advance

Sure! Mix everything the day before, then just froth or reheat when youre ready to serve. You can keep the mix safely up to three days, just make sure its always at the coldest part of your fridge.

    More drink recipes to try:

    • If you want a stronger tea taste, you can add steep more bags to your liking.
    • Add espresso for a caffeine boost.
    • Feel free to reduce the honey if youd like a less sweet drink.
    • Frothing the drink is optional, but we really recommend not skipping it! The froth gives this drink that classic, light Starbucks mouthfeel.
