How Does It Work

The machine is very easy to navigate once youre up and running.

Theres a 1.1-litre water jug fixed to the back of the machine that clicks into place. All someone has to do is open the top of the machine, slot a coffee pod into place, lock the machine back down and hit the white power button on top.

Itll then whir into action, warm up and pour coffee out of the nozzle on the front. Theres a tray to sit a cup in, so there shouldnt be any spillage.

Once the machines done, you lift the lid back open and the used coffee pod goes into an internal bin, which does need to be emptied regularly.

The milk frother is even easier to use, only needing users to plug it in and hit a button.

All up, the process only takes a few minutes, if that.

How To Turn On Nespresso Machine

Your Nespresso machine will turn on with a simple press of a button. For Vertuo models, this will be the button at the top of machine with the cup on it. Just press it once and the machine will begin to warm up. When the light steadies, it is ready for use.

To turn on an Original Lattissima, Essenza, Pixie, CitiZ or Inissia, just press the espresso or lungo button. The lights will start to flash as the machine warms up. When they stop, the machine is ready to brew.

Is The Vertuo Better Than The Original Nespresso

In our opinion, the Original line of Nespresso machines is better than the Vertuo Line, for the following reasons:

• OriginalLine machines accept third party capsules, widening your coffee choice.
• OriginalLine machines are compatible with reusable Nespresso pods, making the OriginalLine machines more environmentally friendly.
• The cost of OriginalLine coffee pods is lower, and third party pods even lower – as low as $0.35. The VertuoLine pods cost around $1.20.
• OriginalLine machines brew using 19 bars of pressure, resulting in bolder brews that resemble more true espresso.
• There are higher end machines within the OriginalLine, such as the Gran Lattissima which automatically steams and froths milk, or the Creatista Plus which has a steam wand allowing you to create latte art.

How To Use Nespresso Vertuo Evoluo Vertuo Next

• Fill the water tank and then turn the machine on. The light will blink. When it steadies the machine is ready to use.
• Place an cup of the appropriate size for the pod you are brewing under the outlet. The cup support tray is adjustable. Lift it up and pull out to remove it and place it at the right level for the cup size you are using.
• Turn the lever to the right to unlock so you can lift the head and reveal the pod brewing chamber.
• Insert a Vertuo pod. The flat lid should be facing up with the dome part down and resting in the pod holder.
• Close the head and turn the lever left towards the lock symbol.
• Press the button to start the coffee prep. The machine will read the barcode on the underside of the pod lid and determine how long to brew your pod for. If you want to stop the process early, just push the button once.
• When brewing is over, wait a couple seconds for those last drips to fall into your cup.
• Now unlock and open the head and eject the used capsule.

Nespresso Vertuo Next Review: I Guess Im A Coffee Pod Gal Now

Let me tell you, when I was offered a chance to review the Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machine I had no idea just how much I would be using this device in the weeks to come.

Not long after receiving the machine, me and the rest of Greater Sydney were tossed into a months long lockdown which meant my regular trips to the local cafe for a takeaway cappuccino were immediately put on hold.

Now, I should probably start this piece by letting you know Ive never been a huge cheerleader for pod or capsule coffee. My first experiences of it were hugely underwhelming and being the coffee obsessive that I am, I stuck to traditional coffee makers for a very, very long time.

Anyway. In recent years, Ive warmed to the idea of pod coffee a little. Nespressos recycling program is a huge plus for me, and I have to admit, the coffee itself is quite good. But still, when I received the Vertuo Next for review I was sitting firmly in the could-take-or-leave-pod-coffee camp.

Now, on to the Vertuo Nexts specs.

The Vertuo range of coffee machines is made up of a family of three: The Vertuo Next, Vertuo Next Premium and Vertuo Next Deluxe.

Many of the key features are consistent between the three models, but for the sake of this review, were going to be looking specifically at the Vertuo Next.

In turn, this technique claims to produce a better, smoother crema for your coffee .

So, how did I find the machine? Lets take a look.

Are Nespresso Vertuo Next For You

A couple important notes:

• The Vertuo Next is Nespresso’s newest VertuoLine model, but instead of going bigger/better, they went smaller. It has the slimmest width at just 5.5″ but otherwise is the least feature-rich of every model.
• You’d think the VertuoPlus and VertuoPlus Deluxe would be better than the regular Vertuo, but that isn’t the case. Sure, the VertuoPlus Deluxe has the largest reservoir of the three at 57 oz, but the Vertuo has a larger spent capsule container and a 1350W heating element with a 15-second heat-up speed.

Of the 5 VertuoLine models, the Vertuo Next is the slimmest and is ideal if you’re looking for a model that doesn’t take up much space.

If the downsides above scared you off a VertuoLine machine, check out the Nespresso Essenza Plus. It has a 34 oz reservoir with preset brew sizes for 1.35 oz espresso, 3.70 oz lungo, 5.05 oz Americano, and 6.75 oz Americano XL in a slimmer, 4.7″ wide model.

But again, if you’re repeatedly going to be brewing full-sized coffees then there’s nothing wrong with getting a VertuoLine machine.

That said, while we prefer Nespresso to every other single-serve brand, perhaps something like the Keurig K-Cafe is more your speed. Like Nespresso VertuoLine machines, the K-Cafe brews both espresso drinks and full-sized coffees, except the K-Cafe is better at coffees than espresso drinks whereas Nespresso is better at espresso drinks than coffees.

Price: Worth The High Price

The Nespresso Vertuo Next retails for around $209, which is certainly higher than the cost of an average coffee machine but lower than an at-home espresso machine. Considering this espresso machine can brew several different espresso drinks, the price is more than fair.

Nespresso Vertuo Next: Price Availability And What Is It

The Nespresso Vertuo Next is a successor to the Vertuo Plus capsule coffee machine, which is/was in itself a great little unit. Expect to pay in the region of £149 in the UK, $159 in the US and $249 in Australia. These appliances are perfect if youre after a quick coffee but don’t have the time or inclination to start fiddling around making your own. Theyre super convenient and the many and varied drink options offered by Nespresso add to the appeal.

One big difference with the Nespresso Vertuo Next is that it features a more switched on design. Adding to its street cred is a build that factors in plenty of recycled plastics, 54% in fact. Thats good news, because one of the bugbears for many with the likes of Nespresso machines is the waste inherent in using coffee pods and capsules.

Aside from that, the Nespresso Vertuo Next packs in a reasonable specification too. It makes drinks using Vertuo Nespresso pods and these are visibly more bulbous compared to others in the Nespresso range. This is a point to note if youre thinking about using old ones with your new purchase as they will not be compatible. In fact, these Nespresso pods are quite a lot larger, which we thought would presumably bode well for the taste and strength of the coffee produced by the Vertuo Next.

Performance: Brews Bluesbut Not With The Coffee

The Nespresso Vertuo Next brews consistent, quality espresso-based drinks when used in conjunction with the Aeroccino. I made espresso, lattes, and cafe au laits with this espresso machine. All of these drinks had a robust espresso flavor, as all Nespresso drinks do. I also found the milk froth to be silky smooth and just the right texture for cappuccinos in particular.

Perhaps one of the Nespresso Vertuo Nexts best features is how quickly the espresso machine heats up and brews coffee.
