Nor do the branded Nespresso Starbucks little pods. Sheesh. For now, Ill resort again to the Nespresso blue Odacio 7.8 oz dark roast capsules. Unfortunately, though, it does not taste like Starbucks coffee. Not nearly as good. Ultimately, I might give up entirely on stubborn Nespresso, and just walk over to Starbucks.

Is Starbucks Blonde Roast good compared to other Starbucks Pods? It comes out on top when it comes to drinking it as an espresso without milk . When it comes to drinking it with milk it is very similar to others such as Café Verona and Pike Place so you probably would not go wrong with any of them in that respect.
The medium roasted Pike-Pine Roast Coffee was created in 2008 and named after the first location in the Starbucks chain. The Pike Place Roast coffee is less bitter and acidic than the dark roast coffees, yet not so bland that you cannot enjoy the strong cup of coffee. It is the perfect blend for every day at any time of the day.
Pikes place is definitely a double dark roast. Its the one roast I avoid at Starbucks. Not bashing Starbucks but this is the roast imo for those who like to dump a bunch sugar and creamer and still have a noticeable coffee flavor. What the average joe thinks coffee should be.

Starbucks French roast
This is one of the most popular Starbucks coffee blends because of its intense smoky flavor since the coffee beans have been roasted at higher degrees until its almost burnt. This gives it a robust and bold taste with smoky dark flavors that isnt too acidic. Although it has a bold flavor, you wont detect any bitterness in your coffee. These coffee beans are oily so you should clean your coffee machine at least every morning. This coffee roast is mostly used with French presses and drip machines that take time to draw out the flavors in the beans and since the roast is complex, you cant use the beans to make an espresso.
Starbucks Italian roast
This is a darker roast that is specifically for making espresso. This roast is fuller-bodied with a bold flavor and is made to retain the sweetness and intensity of the coffee beans. What Does Blonde Roast Coffee Taste Like
Everyone will have a different experience drinking blonde roast coffee, especially if youre having it for the first time.
I personally found it to be mildly sweet with a lingering citrusy after-taste.
I believe this coffee roast works in more ways than one. The unique flavor originating from the beans is a success and the brew provides the energetic kick expected.

What Makes Blonde Roast Stronger
The reason it has more caffeine is due to the unique blend of beans used for the coffee. A new blend requires new beans, right? The original roast at Starbucks was made from dark roast beans originating from Latin America and the Asian Pacific.
Blonde roast is made from beans grown in Latin America and East Africa. Its the different beans that make this coffee stronger and not the roasting technique.
Whoever was responsible for choosing the beans for this roast wasnt going to pick weaker java, right? Did anyone ask for weaker coffee?

Six years ago today, Starbucks introduced Pike Place Roast into their coffee lineup. In honor of Pike Place Roast Day, I asked Coffee Master Jordan if he would use Pike Place Roast for an East Olive Way coffee tasting. He was happy to do so. We tried this coffee and Pike Place Special Reserve made via a French Press and compared it to Clover-brewed versions of the two coffees.
Pike Place Special Reserve is a different coffee than Pike Place Roast. The Pike Place Special Reserve is sold exclusively in two stores: First and Pike Starbucks and 1912 Pike Place. Its Reserve for the two Starbucks at the Market. . Heres what the Pike Place Special Reserve packaging looks like
Pike Place Special Reserve is roasted darker than Pike Place Roast. You can see it when you compare the beans side by side.
Jordan and Marlene presented tonights coffee tasting. They walked us through the four steps of a coffee tasting: Smell, Slurp, Locate , and Describe. At one point, I got a fun picture of the two of them smelling the coffee:
We paired the Pike Place Special Reserve with the La Boulange chocolate croissant. This was a great pairing and the chocolate in the croissant brought out the dark chocolate flavors in the Pike Place Special Reserve coffee. The Pike Place Roast was paired with the La Boulange Classic Coffee Cake. The Classic Coffee Cake was delicious with the Pike Place Roast, as it brought out lots of cinnamon flavor notes.

I`ve had the Seattle`s Best and Starbucks French Roasts. Both were awesome,just different. Honestly wish they were a bit stronger. I use it in my Keurig machine,so I dont really have a way of making the water-to-coffe ratio/mix stronger. How Do You Make Pike Place Coffee At Home
Pike Place coffee is a strong-tasting coffee, not as caffeinated as the Blonde roast, but the flavor alone will bring you to life in the morning. Drip coffee is the way to drink this beverage its better to have this coffee on its own or with a light sweet pastry. Consider the following steps for perfect home-brewed coffee.
* Step 1 Open up your bag of Pike Place whole beans and throw a handful of beans into your coffee grinder.
* Step 2 Fill up your pour-over coffee maker, and heat the water to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit let it cool slightly.
* Step 3 Pour the water over your grounds and let it sit for thirty seconds. Pour over more hot water a second time. The water should develop a creme rising over the beans, let it sit for thirty seconds.
* Step 4 Pour more hot water over the beans. The process of pouring water should take no more than three minutes.
* Step 5 500 mils of coffee, should give a balanced coffee to water ratio. The coffee should be ready to pour into a cup. You should be looking for a rich stream and a deep amber color if you have a little foamy water at the top, all the better.

It somehow has the highest caffeine count, right after the Clover, clocking in at 270 mg per 12 oz.
Blonde Roasts are a permanent thing, so you’re probably going to find this one more often than a Clover.

What Does Blonde Roast Mean
Now that you know where the blonde roast comes from you might be wondering where the name blonde originated. Its just really good marketing more than anything else.
When talking about coffee, the word blonde obviously implies light roast coffee. In the case of blonde roast, its really not as light as you may be thinking.
Starbucks likes to advertise their blonde roast as light roast. In reality, its more like a medium roast when you compare it to other coffee. The reason it makes sense for Starbucks to call their medium-roast light is that most of their coffee beans area true dark roast.
The term Blonde Roast started being used by Starbucks around 2012 to identify their lighter coffee beans.
Up until then, the coffee industry referred to these beans as cinnamon roast due to the color of the beans. That confused a few people who believed cinnamon roast referred to taste instead of color.
I find that completely understandable since normal people dont geek out about coffee as we do.
So, introducing the term blonde roast was not only an easy way to clear up the confusion, but also a fantastic marketing strategy for Starbucks to separate themselves from the competition.
