Keurig K475 Single Serve Coffee Maker

How To Make Brew Ice Coffee In Keurig K-Cup Coffee Brewer Maker

Keurig K475 Coffee Maker is literally the perfect single serving size coffee maker. It was definitely our favorite for home use thanks in part to the simplicity of the design and very small size. It is similar to the K155 but it is made for home use, not office use. You can even get it in a variety of colors so that it will match your kitchen!

Can You Cold Brew Coffee With K

Absolutely. When it comes to brewing traditional K-Cup coffee, simply push the button and the hot coffee will dispense into a coffee mug. For cold-brewed coffee, set a coffee cup or travel mug filled with ice cubes underneath the K-Cup holder on the Keurig machine, press the button for the cup size you prefer and enjoy.

Keurig Coffee Maker History

Keurig was invented in the early 1990s when inventor John Sylvan set out to fix office coffee. Instead of whole pots that sit on a warmer and get bitter, he envisioned a single-serve brewer, so employees could make a quick cup to order.

The first Keurig coffee makers used pods. In 1997, the K-Cup design was developed. That same year, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters signed on as the first roaster for these new cups. Their first brewerthe B2000, released in 1998was built for offices and plumbed directly into the water line.

Keurig moved from the office to the home in 2004. They werent the first company to do so, but the flavor and reliability of the Keurig home coffee brewer beat out its competition. By the end of the decade, they dominated the home single-serve brewer market.

Since then, Keurig has focused on improving its coffee makers and expanding the potential of the K-Cup brewer. This has included experimenting with different pod styles, such as the Vue brewers released in the early 2010s. Theyve also released K-Carafe pods for full pots and K-Mug pods for large travel mugs.

Not all of Keurigs experiments have succeeded. In 2015 they branched out into soft drinks with the Keurig Kold, designed to work with pods from soda brands like Dr. Pepper and Coca-Cola, but it didnt have the same success as their coffee brewers. Keurig continues to innovate, however, finding new ways to make drinks in both the home and office.

Keurig Iced Coffee Recipe

Keurig K

1 regular dark roasted k cup of your choice 4 large ice cubes 4 ounces cold milk, or half and half

Directions: 1. Brew one dark roasted k-cup at a 4-ounce cup setting. If you dont have the 4 oz cup setting, you can use the 6 oz cup size.

2. Place 4 large ice cubes in a tall glass and pour the coffee over the ice cubes. You dont have to wait for the coffee to cool, but you will need to pour the coffee slowly dont just pour it all at once. Do a little pour at the time, this is really important.

3. Add 4 oz cold milk, or half and half, stir and sweeten to taste.

Effortless. Add vanilla syrup for a homemade iced vanilla latte, or caramel sauce for an iced caramel macchiato, and youve got yourself a drink youll enjoy all summer.

Vegetarian and dairy-free: To make this iced coffee vegetarian or dairy-free, simply substitute milk with almond, coconut milk, or oat milk.

Make it even better: The only thing that makes this iced coffee even more delicious is sweetened condensed milk. To make copycat Vietnamese coffee, do the first two steps then add 2 or 3 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk instead of milk. Splash in half and half and stir. Delish.

Keurig Coffee Makers For Beginners

From the outside, a Keurig or K-Cup coffee maker looks a lot like a drip coffee brewer. While there are similarities in the way they brew, overall a Keurig is faster, less messy, and has more internal electronic controls.

One of the main advantages of a Keurig is its simplicity from the users side. You dont have to worry about measuring the coffee or water. Just put in a K-Cup, select the size and strength youre looking for, and brew.

While there are many styles of Keurig coffee maker, they all work in basically the same way. The user selects a cup size and presses brew. The Keurig pulls the right amount of water from the reservoir or water line, heats it, and dispenses it over the ground coffee in the K-Cup.

Proper brewing on a Keurig is more about pushing the right buttons than weighing and measuring. Lets briefly walk through how to set up and use a Keurig for all the first-time owners out there.

  • Set up your Keurig on the counter. They come fully assembled in the box, though youll want to check for any tape or plastic on individual components and remove it before plugging the coffee maker in. Make sure to lift the handle and check the K-Cup brewing area for a shipping disc.
  • If the water reservoir is removable, take it off and clean it with soapy water to remove any plastic residue from manufacturing.
  • Fill the reservoir to its max fill line, then turn on the coffee maker and let it heat up. This can take up to 3 minutes, depending on which model you have.

Heres another iteration from the Keurig K400 line, the K475. It shares a lot of specs with the K400 above .

The biggest improvement in the K475 is its programming features. It has auto-on and auto-off options, both of which are fully programmable. In addition, it has temperature and strength controls for the brew, with 8 cup and carafe size options.

This is one of the heftier non-commercial brewers in Keurigs line-up, so not the best for small spaces. It also gives you more options than other brewers, though, with a multi-carafe reservoir and a range of sizes up to full pots.

As a regular Keurig user and iced coffee fan, it baffles me that I never figured out how to make Keurig iced coffee sooner. The saga of how I came to my discovery goes a little something like this: Growing up an iced coffee lover in a hot coffee-drinking family, my needs for the chilled beverage could only be satisfied by a trip to Starbucks or Dunks.

This lifestyle proved to be highly unsustainable last summer during my unpaid internship. Simply put, I didn’t have room in my budget to fund a $4 coffee every day. Reality was a hard pill to swallow. It was goodbye masterfully prepared drive-thru medium iced coffee with skim, two pumps of sugar-free vanilla, and an extra shot or two of espresso, and hello original ground coffee!

Since the summer is obviously peak iced coffee season and anyone in their right mind cant be bothered with drinking hot coffee, I had to jump into gear to get my caffeine fix. In the midst of a hectic morning rushing to work, I grabbed a red solo cup, filled it with ice, poured some sizzling hot coffee on it with a splash of skim, grabbed a straw for garnish, and rushed out the door. From then on, I was a changed woman. This was the most fabulous concoction I’d ever had. I’d even go so far as to say it’s better than my Starbucks order.

#SpoonTip: Don’t make this iced coffee in a glass cupit’ll crack when you combine the hot coffee with the ice.

Keurig K155 Officepro Premier Brewing System

Another variant on the K150 above, the K155 OfficePRO has a similar design and touch-pad operation. It also has the same large 90-ounce reservoir thats removable and easy to fill, and brews just as quickly, giving you a fresh cup in under a minute.

The main difference with the K155 OfficePRO is that it allows more fine-tuning of the coffees brew and flavor. You can adjust both the temperature and the strength, something you cant do on the models above. Theres also a programming feature that turns it on or off automatically.

Because of this expanded control, we like the K155 OfficePRO as a workplace coffee maker for your break room or office kitchen. It lets everyone on the team brew coffee to their liking, without the mess or hassle of a drip machine. In addition, it uses Keurigs Quiet Brew Technology, so its a non-disruptive option.

    Features:

    • No plumbed in option

    Keurig Commercial Coffee Makers

Keurigs commercial offerings range from compact in-room machines for hotels and motels to massive multi-drink bean-to-cup models that can be used in restaurants and convenience stores. Whatever kind of business you operate, one of Keurigs many commercial brewers is sure to fit your needs.

How Many People Will Be Using The Keurig

Are you planning on sharing your Keurig with other people, and if so, is it a lot of people?

If youre only looking for a Keurig for personal use, there are a few designed with especially small water tanks that can only make one cup at a time before needing a refill.

But if your Keurig is going to be used in a home with a few coffee lovers, youll probably want a larger water tank.

A larger water tank would mean the Keurig could make more drinks at a time before you need to refill it. This can be huge in circumstances where more than one person is using the coffee maker, as it can be hard to keep track of the water level.

More users also most likely means youll want a faster brewing time. No one wants to wait in line long for their morning cup of coffee.

If you anticipate queues forming in front of your Keurig, look at its brew time. There are many capable of brewing a cup in 60 seconds or less.

The Number Of People Drinking The Coffee

    Keurig

Go for a bigger coffee maker or a carafe brewer if you have a bigger number of people drinking the coffee. For example, the K-Duo single serve and carafe coffee maker is ideal when you have more than 5 people drinking the coffee.

The K-Elite has a large water tank and can brew 8 cups of coffee back to back without refilling. Compact size coffee makers such as the Keurig K-Classic and the K-Select are ideal for 1-4 people.

Not! Why? Because it comes out that your ingenious Keurig can produce hot and iced versions of the same beverage. Its almost as simple as that. Well walk you through the potential dangers as we move along.

So, remain cool this summer by preparing iced coffee on your Keurig and following our instructions.

How To Use A Keurig To Create Iced Coffee

    • Set up your Keurig: Start your Keurig and add water to the tank.
    • Choose a K-cup: Filter your favorite grounds into your Keurigs reusable coffee filter and place it in the brewer. A darker roast, like this French roast, is best for K-cups.
    • Prepare your cup: If youre going to brew your coffee over ice, be sure to use a cup big enough to hold the ice. Avoid using a glass cup because it can break easily.
    • Brew: Decide on the size of your cup and the treatment.
    • Add finishing touches: Sweetener, milk, and flavorings can all be added if desired.

Why Not Brew The Coffee Cold

Ground coffee needs heat to extract the full flavor profile. If the water is too cold then the coffee will be weak and under-extracted. The only way to get a good flavor brewing with cold water is to leave the coffee in contact with the water for 12+ hours. This method of brewing is called cold brew coffee.

Brew Over Ice K-Cup: How to Make the Perfect Iced Coffee with Keurig Coffee Maker

Not all of Keurigs commercial machines brew from K-Cups. The Keurig Collection Eccellenza Touch is a bean-to-cup machine, with a built-in grinder and spots to store flavor powders. It can make anything from a black coffee to a mochaccino. Selecting the drink, size, and strength is simple on the built-in color touchscreen.

The Eccellenza Touch is plumbed into the water line so theres no reservoir to fill. While you will have to refill the bean hoppers and flavor powders from time to time, whole beans take up less space per drink than a rack of K-Cups.

Convenience stores and cafeterias are the main market for the Eccellenza Touch. The best part is the coffee will taste fresher since its ground to brew, and the unique reverse French press brewing process brings out more flavor and complexity from the beans than youd typically expect from a Keurig machine.

Plus There Other Coffee Lovers Out There Who Think This Keurig Is Just As Great As I Do It Has 44

“I bought this coffeemaker to replace my classic Keurig that I’d been nursing along for several years. It’s a beautiful piece of work. Brushed silver sides, big water reservoir, five cup sizes, lit buttons, and even a blue LED light that illuminates the water reservoir! It looks and feels well-built even though it’s incredibly light. Matter of fact, when I lifted the box it was shipped in, it was so light I thought the wrong item had been sent. My classic Keurig was a heavy monster compared to this. I’m very happy with this and can’t recommend it enough.” NancyP

“My first Keurig lasted for five years of HARD daily use I bought this one as a replacement and we absolutely love it. We love the brew strength and other features. The black and brushed steel with the blue backlight in the water chamber make this unit look far classier than my old machine. Definitely worth the money.” Maureen Hudson

    Keurig V1200 Commercial Brewing System

On the other end of the aesthetic spectrum, the Keurig V1200 looks purely commercial, with a hefty, boxy casing built to withstand heavy use. Its designed to go on the customer-facing side of a business, such as a convenience store or hotel lobby. Not only is it durable but the brew instructions are also printed on the front, so your customers can use it easily without guidance.

The only downside of the Keurig V1200 is that its designed to work with specialized packs. You can get a converter to use standard K-cups but thats an annoying extra step. This aside, it has the same fast brew speed as other commercial Keurig coffee makers, as well as a removable reservoir and convenient energy-saving features.

    Features:

    • No direct water line option
    • Not compatible with standard K-cups without a converter
