How To Make Chai Tea Easily At Home

Homemade Chai Tea (Caffeine-Free)

Surprisingly, there are 3 variants of Chai tea that you can make at home with milk, without milk or using packaged tea leaves.

To make Chai tea without milk, first, heat a few cups of water in a teapot or pan and add the Black tea leaves to it. Once the colour starts changing add few shreds of peeled and crushed ginger, 3 to 4 crushed cardamom, a pinch of turmeric , 3 to 4 black pepper, 4 to 5 cloves, and a broken cinnamon stick if you like. Boil this mixture for a few minutes and strain it. At the end add honey or sugar to taste and squeeze in a lemon wedge or two to enhance the taste.

If you want to milk in your Chai tea, add your preferred amount of milk after heating the water, and then add the Black tea leaves. Absolutely nothing changes in the rest of the recipe as mentioned above.

And in the case of packaged Chai tea leaves, all you need to do is boil water , add tea leaves as per your preference, give a good boil to the whole concoction, and add sugar to taste. Thats it, your Chai tea is ready.

It Helps Improve Digestion

Like many teas, chai is excellent for regulating digestive systems and keeping your gut healthy. The spice in chai tea that is largely responsible for digestive health benefits is ginger. Ginger aids digestion by improving circulation and delivering oxygen to organs so they can perform optimally.

Another spice in chai that aids digestion is black pepper, which helps the pancreas produce digestive enzymes. These enzymes work as catalysts to speed up digestive processes that break down fats and proteins. With a more efficient digestive system, you can avoid more severe problems such as liver diseases, iron deficiency and irritable bowel syndrome and reach your weight loss goals faster.

The current Starbucks chai concentrate packs more flavor per ounce than Tazo Chai Concentrate, which is okay.

We just need to use a little more concentrate to get the same flavorful drink.

Why Does Coffee Give Me The Jitters

We all know that drinking too much coffee results in a case of the jitters, but why? Caffeine is a stimulant, and consuming too much of it within a short amount of time increases heart rate and blood pressure. Too much of anything can have adverse effects, likewise with caffeine. Caffeine In Chai Vs Coffee

People often drink coffee in the morning, but Chai tea is also a great morning tea, thats why its made it onto my 20 best morning teas. It has the right amount of caffeine to provide that morning caffeine kick that many seek from a cup of coffee.

In truth, Chai is the usual beverage that many Indians drink to start the day, instead of coffee. But its also a means for people to reduce their caffeine intake and still get that rush of energy.

Unlike coffee, Chai latte is made with tea. This reduces caffeine content by more than half. This significantly reduces the experience of post coffee jitters and the caffeine high and low coffee drinkers experience.

On average, a regular 8 oz cup of Chai contains 60mg of caffeine, compared with 120mg for an 8 oz cup of coffee. With a ratio of 2:1, you can drink two cups of Chai for every cup of coffee. This ratio can vary up based on the type of base tea, the quantity of tea, and steep time.

Unlike coffee, the spices in Chai interact with the tannin content of tea especially black tea to further slow the absorption of caffeine. Tannin is known to help ease and calm the nervous system.

Because of this, Chai helps you to get a sufficient morning boost, but also enables you to remain calm, level-headed, and focused without the hyperactive side effects that caffeine often comes with.
