How To Make Good Homemade Iced Coffee

What Is Iced Coffee

BEST ICED COFFEE | Easy Iced Coffee Recipe (Dairy Free)

Generally, different versions of iced coffee are scattered all over the world. Each and every country has its own takes when it comes to ice coffee depending on the flavor and brewing methods that the respective countries are familiar with. To simply put, iced coffee is a really diverse drink that all people love to enjoy.

There are elements that decide its identity and popularity. Basically to brew a glass, mug or cup of ice coffee is to practice your normal brewing method by using hot water but sugar and other condiments are free to add.

There is not an ultimate universal definition for iced coffee. People choose and decide to make their favorite cups of iced coffee and be happy with it. Most forms of iced coffee that can be seen are the regular iced black coffee, iced latte, iced Americano and more.

People love to mix and add many different flavors to their drinks and make it fun and tasty. There are ways of making it delicious and easy to brew with less time to brew and an amazing taste of iced coffee at the end.

Making The Iced Caramel Macchiato

The trick to this Iced Caramel Machiatto recipe is making the rich dulce de leche caramel syrup and layering the espresso and milk its way easier than you think too!

Start with an empty cup full of ice, then add a couple tablespoons of the syrup. Brew your espresso, and pour it very delicately over the milk of your choice I usually go with 2% but whole milk makes this drink extra creamy and over the top.

If you dont have dulce de leche at home , simply boil a can of sweetened condensed milk for 3 hours in a large pot of gently boiling water.

What About Cold Brew Coffee

You can also make cold brew coffee, that has become all the rage in recent years. Cookie and Kate has a great post on how to make cold brew coffee, and it is essentially steeped overnight in the fridge through thin coffee filters. The process takes quite a while , but the flavour is amazing, so depending on how far in advance you’re willing to prepare the iced coffee, this may be an attractive option.

French Press Or No French Press

A french press is not required for the cold brew process but I find it super handy and convenient for this task and love the flavor it gives the iced coffee.

If you dont have a french press, never fearall you need is a container to pour your water and coffee in. You would then need a coffee filter or cheesecloth to strain the grinds.

Step 1: Add Water

Pour 4 cups of cold filtered water into your french press

Step 2: Ground Coffee Beans

Add 1/2 cup of course ground coffee beans of your choice to the water. I use a medium dark roast, organic.

Give it a gentle stir just to moisten the grounds and your coffee is ready to be transformed into a delicious cold brew.

You will have to cover it with plastic wrap and allow it to brew for about 12-18 hrs in the fridge.

When you wake up, you will be ready to use your coffee extract!

Iced Coffee By The Pitcher

How To Make The Best Caramel Iced Coffee At Home in 2020 ...

3 simple steps and youve got a pitcher of delicious iced coffee to last you all week! Say goodbye to expensive, over-sweetened commercial iced coffee with this simple recipe and indulge all week long the frugal way.

I used to be a regular coffee person. A 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning kind of gal, but then a somewhat strange combination of events kept me from being able to enjoy my coffee any longer. You see, I started playing roller derby, which lead to lots of aches and pain, which lead to me taking lots of ibuprofen, which combined with my coffee caused lots of stomach pain. And that almost destroyed my love affair with coffee.

Around this time I discovered iced coffee. For some reason iced coffee does not bother my stomach. I havent done any research on the matter, but I assume its probably less acidic.

For years I bought expensive packets of iced coffee mix, until the store stopped carrying them. I did buy the premade iced coffee in cartons for a few weeks, but I couldnt justify the cost. It was so expensive for so little. My favorite was more than $5 for less than 2 quarts. I set out to make up my own iced coffee recipe.

It had to make a big enough batch to last all week. It had to have great coffee flavor. It needed to be inexpensive, but not made with any cheap or fake ingredients. And it had to be a little sweet, but not overwhelming so.

Can You Store Leftover Iced Coffee In The Fridge

Yes and no. This really depends on how much of a coffee snob you are to be honest. If you’re used to a fresh brew, storing any leftovers in the fridge may not be a good idea. Cold brew typically lasts 2-3 days in the fridge if you’ve covered it properly the flavours will last a bit longer because it’s brewed cold.

However, drip coffee that has been chilled has a shorter shelf life before the robust coffee flavour starts to disappear and become stale. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it for more than 24 hours. However, there will be nothing inherently wrong with the coffee other than the taste so feel free to go ahead and judge by your taste buds.

For my birthday recently, I was given a super cool Mr. Coffee iced coffee maker. Im telling you, this thing is amazing!

Since receiving this Ive been using it everyday instead of my Keurig.

How To Make Great Iced Coffee At Home

HOW TO MAKE ICED COFFEE (QUICK AND EASY RECIPE)

1. Start with Quality Coffee Beans

The better the beans, the better the coffee, right? We love using our H.C. Valentine Royal 150 Blend — its apricot, chocolate, and caramel notes are perfect in an iced coffee!

2. Make Coffee Ice Cubes

Freeze leftover coffee into an ice cube tray, and pop ’em into your iced coffee the next morning. The best part? When they melt, they add flavor to your brew instead of diluting it. If you really want to get creative, you can drizzle some chocolate or sprinkle a little cinnamon into your ice cubes before freezing them.

3. Flavor Your Iced Coffee Like a Barista

No need to spend a ton of money — here’s how to make your own coffee creamers and flavored syrups.

4. Make a Big Batch

There are several ways to make iced coffee at home, but the most simple way is to brew a pot of coffee in your coffee maker, and stick it in a temperature-safe container in your refrigerator until it’s cold.

If you’re really short on time, you can “double brew”, or add double the amount of coffee grounds you normally use . It won’t taste diluted when you pour it over ice because the coffee is super concentrated.

5. Experiment with Cold Brew

There are differences between iced coffee and cold brew , but cold brew can still be poured over ice and mixed with milk. Here’s how to make cold brew coffee at home in your French press.

How To Serve Cold Brew Iced Coffee

This recipe makes a coffee concentrate. Unless you like really strong coffee, you will probably want to dilute it with water when you serve it. I use about a 1:1 ratio of coffee concentrate to water, sometimes a little more coffee since I like my iced coffee strong.

You can serve your cold brew over ice or even heat it up for a hot cup of coffee. The smooth, less bitter flavor of cold brew makes a perfect cup of hot coffee in the morning! The easiest way to heat cold brew is in the microwave.

Serve your cold brew coffee black or with a splash of milk or cream. Sometimes Ill stir in cream, a drizzle of honey and a pinch of sea salt for a sweeter iced coffee. It tastes like an iced salted caramel latte!

Enjoy your iced coffee in the morning with a bowl of steel cut oatmeal or this whole wheat pancake recipe, or as an afternoon pick me up with a slice of healthy banana bread.

  • MY FAVORITE GLASS MUGS: I absolutely love these glass mugs and I use them for both coffee and tea. Theyre microwavable and large.
  • TALL GLASSES: I use these for iced tea and iced coffee and any drink where I want to add ice in a tall glass.

  • COFFEE STIRRER STICKS: We have a little coffee station in our kitchen, and since I dont always like to get our spoons dirty these wooden stirrer sticks come in handy.
