Iced Coffee Method: Aeropress Coffee Made With Room
- Time: 2 minutes
- Overall rating: 3/10
About this method: The people who love the Aeropress really love it . Aeropress is a cylindrical device that on one end has a filter and basket for coffee. Water goes into the vessel and then another piece plunges the water through the filter directly into the cup. For hot coffee, you use hot water for iced coffee, you start with room-temperature water. Once you pour water into the vessel, stir the coffee grounds and water for 1 minute, then plunge the contents into the cup. Add enough room-temp or ice-cold water to make 1 cup of coffee.
Results: While I appreciate how fast you can have your hand on a cup of iced coffee, this is a very lightly brewed coffee. The color was so light similar to iced tea. It was actually the lightest of all the brews. What did take me by surprise was that despite how light the brew was, the coffee itself had some really nice flavors come through.
My takeaway: This is a great method for the people who prefer a lighter, less intense cup of coffee. I felt that the overall flavor was really nice, but would have liked to let the coffee grounds steep a little longer to get more or, alternatively, to start this as a warm cup that I cooled down. This also is not a cold brew for a person who wants to add their favorite milk or alt milk. I found that the coffee flavor was muted enough as is.
What Is A Nespresso Iced Coffee
A Nespresso iced coffee is an iced coffee made with coffee from a Nespresso pod of your choice. The fun part about making iced coffee using this method is that you get to choose what coffee flavor youd like the coffee to be.
This iced coffee will be made using the following items:
- A coffee pod of your choice
- Ice cubes
- Milk of your choice
- A sweetener like sugar or a coffee syrup
Thats all you need for this delicious iced coffee recipe. Down below, Ill give you my recommendation about which coffee pods I like to use and give you an insight into how I made this choice.
Remember That Ice Is An Ingredient
In fact, its one of the only ingredients. And if youre an absolute purist , its one of only two ingredients in iced coffeethat is, coffee and water. The solid-state H2O that goes into your brew can actually have a make-or-break effect on your finished drink, though. So definitely use good, drinkable water and ice cube trays that are clean and dont smell. Also, be sure you have a fresh freezer. If youve got last months lentil soup in there, your iced coffee will taste like last months lentil soup.
I love a totally pristine, clear cube in mine, because its something so simple to elevate the glass. Every coffee should feel like a special occasion, you know what I mean? Get the Perfect Ice recipe.

Best Nespresso Coffee Pods To Use
This is the most important part of this iced coffee recipe. You will need to choose your favorite coffee pods of Nespresso to use. But what if you dont have any experience with Nespresso pods? This is where I come in.
Because of the amount of milk used in this recipe, you want to pick a Nespresso pod with a good amount of flavor in it.
The coffee pods that I recommend for this recipe are the coffees that have been dark roasted.
These coffee pods start from level 9 of the intensity scale of Nespresso. Choose an espresso variant for this recipe to really give that amazing iced coffee feeling.
If youd like to use a Lungo pod instead of an espresso coffee pod, please feel free to do so. But be careful with the amount of milk youre going to add.
The Lungo pods will produce more coffee than the espresso pods, and you might want to add less milk to balance it out.
Also, make sure the Lungo coffee pods are strong in flavor. You need to balance the flavors between the milk and the coffee a bit.

Iced Coffee With Almond Milk: Recipe 1
- 1 to 2 tablespoons coffee grounds
- 500 ml water
- 1 handful almonds
Brew 2 cups of coffee to your liking. I use a French press, 1 heaping tablespoon of coffee grounds, and roughly 2 cups of hot water. No matter how you brew your coffee, once its ready, place it in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until its cold.
Prepare a bowl/casserole and a strainer as shown.
Position a cheesecloth over the strainer.
Grab a handful of soaked almonds. Yes, they must be soaked beforehand. Almonds, like all seeds, contain anti-nutrients. Anti-nutrients are chemicals serving as evolutionary defense mechanisms for seeds. For us, however, they can impede mineral absorption and disrupt digestion. Check out Nutritional Grail for a complete discussion of anti-nutrients and how to minimize them. In a nutshell, youll want to soak your almonds at least 8 hours and up to 24 . Discard the soaking water afterwards. You can store soaked almonds in the refrigerator for 5 days or so.
Add the soaked almonds and chilled coffee to your blender and blend well. Pour the blended almond-coffee mixture through your cheesecloth, catching the liquid in a container below.
Squeeze out all the goodness.
You will have an unpalatable pulp. Many a thrifty chef has attempted to make use of this pulp in other recipes. Ive been there too and I recommend you dont waste your time on such endeavors. Better to toss or compost the pulp.

Keurig Iced Coffee Recipe
1 regular dark roasted k cup of your choice 4 large ice cubes 4 ounces cold milk, or half and half
Directions: 1. Brew one dark roasted k-cup at a 4-ounce cup setting. If you dont have the 4 oz cup setting, you can use the 6 oz cup size.
2. Place 4 large ice cubes in a tall glass and pour the coffee over the ice cubes. You dont have to wait for the coffee to cool, but you will need to pour the coffee slowly dont just pour it all at once. Do a little pour at the time, this is really important.
3. Add 4 oz cold milk, or half and half, stir and sweeten to taste.
Effortless. Add vanilla syrup for a homemade iced vanilla latte, or caramel sauce for an iced caramel macchiato, and youve got yourself a drink youll enjoy all summer.
Vegetarian and dairy-free: To make this iced coffee vegetarian or dairy-free, simply substitute milk with almond, coconut milk, or oat milk.
Make it even better: The only thing that makes this iced coffee even more delicious is sweetened condensed milk. To make copycat Vietnamese coffee, do the first two steps then add 2 or 3 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk instead of milk. Splash in half and half and stir. Delish.

Know How Much Time Ya Got
If youre in a rush, iced pour-over is 100 percent the way to go to get you out the door: It takes roughly three to four minutes to make this type of iced coffee, since youre basically brewing a hot concentrate that drips directly onto ice. This method is great for straight-up sippingit allows more delicate flavors to come through in the coffeeand is a quick way to make iced coffee in a flash. You can even use the principles of the manual-brewing technique to make autodripped iced coffee. Do a little simple math to calculate the ice-to-water ratio, put the ice in the brewing carafe, and away we go. Get the Japanese Style Iced Coffee recipe.
Cold brew, on the other hand, can be portioned out into grab-and-go doses once its finished, but takes about 1224 hours prep time. The stronger, chocolatey flavor of this iced-coffee style generally stands up to add-ons, mix-ins, and other fun variations better than iced pour-over does. Get our Easy Cold-Brewed Coffee recipe.
Iced Coffee Method: Overnight Cold Brew In A French Press
- Time: 18 hours
- Overall rating: 7.5/10
About this method:The French press method starts by using 1 ounce of coffee for 12 ounces of cold water. Grind the coffee beans into a coarse grind then stir in the water in the base of the press. Place the lid on top, but do not plunge. Steep the coffee overnight, then plunge the top in the morning.
Results: I really enjoyed this method! The coffee was laced with smooth, chocolatey notes. This was also my favorite method that had oat milk in it the oat milk gave the coffee some nuttiness that I really liked.
My takeaway: This is a great method. It extracted some lovely flavors and aroma. The only hurdle is fridge storage space , so you may have to create space in your fridge to accommodate. Also, you will need to have a French press at home.

Iced Coffee Method: Regular Drip Coffee Chilled Overnight
- Time: 5 minutes brew time plus overnight cooling time
- Overall rating: 2/10
About this method: According to the National Coffee Association, the ideal coffee-to-water ratio is 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. I prefer a stronger cup and went for 2 tablespoonsfor 1 cupin my drip machine. I made a half pot of coffee, about 2 cups. I placed grounds in the basket, added water to the machine, and flipped the switch on. In minutes, my coffee was ready. I transferred it to a glass jar, waited for it to cool to room temperature, then sealed the jar and placed it in the fridge overnight.
Results: This was my least favorite of all the methods. None of the delicious flavors and aromas that came through in the other methods were represented in this cup. It was bitter , murky, and stale-tasting.
My takeaway: If this is the only way you can make iced coffee, then so be it. But if you are able to try a different way, I recommend that instead.

A Little Lesson On Lattes
Before we jump into the instructions on how to make an iced latte, lets learn a little bit about the drink itself. Having decent foundational knowledge will help you tinker with the recipe and make perfect lattes.
A latte is simply coffee and milk. Known as a cafe latte in Italy, where it was originally made, it directly translates to milk coffee. Big companies have shortened the name to simply latte. While most shops you go to will make a latte with espresso, the name suggests that you can use any type of coffee or coffee extraction. Lattes are also typically prepared with steamed milk for a couple of reasons: mouthfeel and flavor. The steamed milk adds a creamy texture to the drink when properly steamed. It also stretches the milk, releasing sugar enzymes and effectively sweetening the drink.
For an iced drink, we wont be steaming the milk because the iced latte has a feel all its own. It could also be a bit of a health risk, as theres a small risk that steamed milk could grow unhealthy bacteria when introduced to the ice.
Now that we know all this, we can see that the iced latte is a pretty simple drink. The most important part is the coffee itself, as everything else is added after the coffee is brewed. So, lets make an iced latte!
