Machines That Make Regular Coffee

Nespresso Barista Masterclass – Your Vertuo Machine Coffee | UK & Ireland

Making a regular cup of coffee requires some type of drip or pour over brewing process. Currently, the only Nespresso machines with this capability are those in the VertuoLine, which uses innovative bar code technology called Centrifusion to identify the difference between regular drip or espresso capsules.

For regular coffee drinkers, your choices of Nespresso coffeemakers are limited. However, they are some of the highest-quality machines on the market.

The company offers a 2-year warranty on all coffeemakers, provided you only use Nespresso brand capsules, and there is no misuse. These are the models you can choose from:

If you are pondering why Nespresso doesnt build more regular coffee-capable machines, it is simple. Nespressos business model wasnt formulated to create standard coffeemakers.

When the European company recognized that it was losing American business because Americans seemed to prefer bigger coffee drinks over fast espresso shots, it created VertuoLine in response.

How Does A Nespresso Machine Work

Nespresso machines are known for their ease of use. Add water, insert a pod, press a button, and youre all done. But, theres a little more to how Nespresso machines work.

Nespresso machines come in two versions: OriginalLine and VertuoLine. OriginalLine uses one-touch pod technology, while VertuoLine uses centrifugal technology that spins the pod 7,000 times per minute.

Ive used both kinds of Nespresso coffee machines, and today Ill go into detail about how they work. Ill also explain what you should know about Nespresso pods and what kind of drinks these machines brew.

    Choosing And Grinding The Espresso

  • 1Select the roast. Espresso refers to the method of preparation and the grind of the beans, not the roast level. Choose any roast level you prefer for your espresso. Roast levels can vary by region, so try several to find a level that you enjoy the most. Keep in mind that you might prefer different roasts for different purposes.XResearch source
  • For example, if you’re drinking the espresso straight, you might want a single-origin bean that’s not roasted very dark. Or if you’ll be making the espresso into a latte or cappuccino, you might want a darker roast that will stand up to the milk.
  • 2Buy your beans. If you’re buying your beans from a coffee shop, ask when they were roasted. While you want fresh beans, you don’t want beans that were roasted within the last day or two, since they’ll still be releasing carbon dioxide. Purchase and use beans that were roasted 5 to 12 days earlier.XResearch source
  • If you’re buying your beans from a store, check the label on the bag to find the roast date.
  • 3Grind the espresso. If you have a high-quality burr grinder, use it to grind enough beans for one espresso shot. The burrs will do a better job of grinding the beans than a cheap metal blade. Grind the espresso on one of the finest settings, so the beans are as fine as granulated sugar. Grind enough beans to get about 7 grams of espresso. You’ll use this to pull one 1-ounce shot. Or you could use 14 grams to make a double shot.XResearch source
  • Why Is My Nespresso Coffee Cold

If your Nespresso coffee is cold, it could be because the machine wasnt properly plugged in or the water tank was empty. Another possibility is that the coffee wasnt brewed long enough or at a high enough temperature. Finally, it could be that the ice cubes were added too early and diluted the coffee.

Nespresso machines typically have three settings for making espresso, with each button depicting the resulting shot size.

Ristretto uses the least amount of water and is the most concentrated. It produces a 25-milliliter or .84-ounce shot and is symbolized by a small espresso cup.

The Espresso setting will give you a 40-milliliter or 1.35-ounce pour and is depicted as a medium-sized espresso cup.
