How Do You Make Powdered Coffee Creamer With Milk

Coffee mate vanilla flavor Natural Bliss Creamer # The Beer Review Guy

Tip: Use Powdered Creamer As Emergency Milk Just put a cup of water in the microwave and heat the water up add the coffee creamer into it and use. I have used this in boxed mac and cheese, instant mashed potatoes and even scrambled eggs. It works great, my mac and cheese seems creamier than with milk.

Does Coffee With Milk Or Creamer Provide The Same Benefits

es, it does but with two big asterisks.

Asterisk 1: The more milk, creamer you add to a cup of coffee, the less room there is for the coffee. Less coffee, of course, means fewer health and wellness benefits.

Asterisk 2: Milk or creamer doesnt cancel out the benefits that coffee provides, but it can add some unhealthy properties to the mix. Just as one example, a cup of black coffee contains about two calories. Add a few teaspoons of a traditional creamer, and all of a sudden youre consuming about 40-50 calories. At four cups a day, those calories can really add up fast and you can certainly imagine how many calories you consume if you enjoy mochas or pumpkin spice lattes on a regular basis.

Theres one obvious conclusion. If you dont like it black, using a healthy coffee creamer will maximize the benefits of your morning brew.

So lets find some healthy coffee creamers.

Coffee Creamers: The Good The Bad The Gross

When I began coaching clients, one of the very first things that I learned was not to suggest that he or she stop drinking coffee.

Even the suggestion to cut back on the number of cups in a day deafened their ears to anything else I would have to say.

Coffee absolutely can be part of a healthy eating plan. It even has some positive qualities, including a slight to moderate laxative effect, physical and mental energy boosting and antioxidant properties.

When I talk about coffee being a part of a healthy diet, I strongly suggest people get some sort of food in their system before they drink their coffee, preferably protein. It doesnt have to be much. A small handful of almonds or a piece of chicken leftover from dinner will do the trick.

The caffeine jolt that causes eyes to pop open and brains to start firing can cause havoc with stress hormones and blood sugar when consumed on an empty stomach.

With real energy from food to back up the caffeine, you may avoid having your energy tank mid-morning. So, drink your coffee, orenjoy your espresso, just not on an empty stomach.

While I may not push my client to give up morning java, I strongly encourage people to think about what they are adding to their coffee that could be sabotaging healthy eating goals.

If you already eat well and creamer is the one thing that continues to spoil an otherwise clean diet, consider the following:

Is Coffee Mate Dairy Free

Yes, Coffee-mate is indeed dairy-free!

It is, in fact, marketed as a non-dairy product.

However, it may not be dairy-free at all because it contains the milk derivative sodium caseinate.

Caseinate is commonly used in non-dairy milk substitutes but the FDA requires manufacturers to use the parenthetical term a milk derivative for distinction purposes.

Sodium caseinate is derived from casein which is a protein found in the milk of mammals.

Again, I suggest closely inspecting the packaging of your preferred Coffee-mate product and also performing duediligence to ensure that it is safe for you to consume, especially when you have some kind of milk allergy.

Whats In Coffee Creamer

Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Vanilla 16 Oz : GJ Curbside

Here are the ingredients in what was my favorite brand :

  • Water
  • Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oil
  • Sodium Caseinate
  • Phosphate
  • Natural and Artificial Flavors
  • Carrageenan

Overall, not a very pretty picture. First off, there are waaaaay too many ingredients here for a very simple mixture . Second, there is partially hydrogenated oil which is very bad for you, along with a slew of very processed ingredients.

Now, here are the ingredients for my healthy homemade creamer recipe:

  • Almond milk
  • Raisins
  • Arrowroot starch
  • Pure vanilla extract

All whole ingredients, all waaaaay better for you. All just as tasty as the fake stuff youve been used to.

Natural Bliss Coffee Creamer Is Best Just As An Occasional Treat

Its best to keep coffee creamers like Natural Bliss as a relatively occasional treat, and make sure not to drink it in excess. It is much healthier to use real milk or cream in your coffee.

Soy milk might also be a good option for some people, although you should do your research and make sure that you are aware of the possible adverse health effects of excessive soy consumption. Also make sure to thoroughly read the ingredient list of any product you try.

As weve discussed, while Natural Bliss Coffee Creamer is a better choice than several other popular processed coffee creamers, it still contains problematic ingredients and if indulged in on a daily basis, could eventually contribute to the development of serious health problems.

Coffee Mate To Launch Two New Vegan Creamers

In January, creamer brand Coffee Mate will launch two new vegan flavors at retailers nationwide. The new Brown Sugar Oat Milk and Almond Sweet Crème flavors will be available under the companys Natural Bliss line. Natural Bliss Brown Sugar Oat Milk is made with pure, simple ingredients to bring the taste of brown sugar oatmeal to your morning coffee cup, a company spokesperson told Thrillist. With notes of sweet brown sugar, natural oat, and a hint of maple, this flavorful non-dairy option is sure to start your day off right. The spokesperson described the Almond Sweet Crème flavor as having a rich, smooth taste.

In 2017, Coffee Mate launched its first vegan creamer line exclusively at Target with four flavors: Vanilla Almond Milk, Caramel Almond Milk, Hazelnut Almond Milk, and Sweet Crème Coconut Milk. In 2019, the brand expanded its vegan options to include Half & Half creamers made from almond milk and coconut cream in Vanilla and Unsweetened flavors. This year, Coffee Mate also added cashew milk– and oat milk-based creamers to its vegan line-up. The brands vegan holiday flavor, Caramel Toffee Almond Milk, hit stores nationwide in September.

Theres only one time and place for store-bought coffee creamer: never and in the trash.

Seriously though, starting your day by drinking nasty chemical-filled coffee creamer sets you up for a terrible day. The sugar in store-bought coffee creamer will spike your blood sugar leaving you hungry all day, and the artificial ingredients can cause headaches, mood swings and lack of focus. Yuck.

Lets take a look at the ingredients in Vanilla Coffeemate: water, sugar, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil, and less than 2% of sodium caseinate **, dipotassium phosphate, disodium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, natural and artificial flavors, cellulose gel, cellulose gum, color added, carrageenan.

I dont even know where to start! Nothing on this label is real food. A better name would be Cancer-In-A-Bottle.

I dont like to send fear-based messages and Im not going to breakdown each nasty ingredient here so we can move onto a way better alternative, but seriously, you have to stop drinking this asap. Its not even a treat for every once in a while, its just poison.

Im not just picking on the Coffeemate brand specifically, just about all store-bought coffee creamer is in the same boat.

Dont fret, I have good news! There is a really easy and actually healthy way to make your own healthy coffee creamer. Youre essentially making homemade cashew milk and can adjust the consistency as you like it.

We Tried 9 Healthy Store

A Couponers Product Review: Coffeemate Natural Bliss Coffee Creamer

Love a lighter cup of coffee? Switch things up with these plant-based options.

Some of us dont like to drink black coffee, and thats okay. But store-bought creamers tend to have unnecessary fat, added sugar, and artificial colors or flavors that can wreak havoc on your health .

Not to mention the ingredients. Look at what’s in a standard dairy-based flavored creamer and youll find things like water, oil, cellulose, and artificial flavoring. Yuck!

So we sought out the healthiest creamers we could find and brewed up a few pots of coffee to find the ones that also tasted great. After reviewing the options at our local grocery stores, we purchased nine different products that passed our nutritional guidelinesa mix of flavored and unflavored, plant-based and dairy creamers. And believe it or not, the highest-rated ones all happen to be plant-based! Here, our three favorites:

Does Coffee Mate Make A Vegan Creamer

The good news is that Coffee Mate now has a line of vegan creamers made with coconut and almond milk. Unfortunately, they don’t come in single serve containers and they must be refrigerated.

You should also be careful if you’re picking up a bottle at the store. The vegan creamers are a part of Coffee Mate’s Natural Bliss line, which are not all vegan. Make sure the bottle you pick says it’s made from almond or coconut milk, otherwise you’ll be buying a coffee creamer that actually contains real cream.

If you’re vegan and looking for an alternative to the shelf stable Coffee Mate creamers, there are some options out on the market. Califa Farms has a big selection of vegan creamers with flavors like pecan caramel and their own version of plant-based half and half. They come in shelf-stable boxes but do need to be refrigerated once opened. Your best vegan on-the-go option is Coconut Cloud, a powdered coconut creamer that comes in portable, single serve packets.

While you may not be able to find vegan single serve coffee creamers at most coffee bars, there are plenty of plant-based options out there. Preparation is key, but being able to enjoy creamy coffee at a moment’s notice is well worth it.

What’s Really In Coffee Mate

The ingredient list for “The Original” flavor of Coffee Mate in single serve containers says it contains water, coconut oil , sugar, sodium caseinate, dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, artificial flavor, and beta carotene color.

In the case of Coffee Mate, lactose-free does not mean vegan. While the classic Coffee Mate-style creamers contain no real cream and no lactose, they do contain a milk derived protein.

Be sure to use raw cashews you can usually find them in the bulk section of your grocery store or online. Roasted or salted cashews will give you a pretty funky tasting milk. Look for organic if possible. Some chefs will tell you to only buy whole raw cashews as the pieces can be dry, but whole raw cashews can get really pricey so I usually buy the halves or pieces and havent noticed any differences.

Soak your cashews for at least two hours to soften them, I even prefer at least four hours. You can also soak them overnight up to 12 hours for an even easier recipe, just soak them before you go to bed and whip up your cashew milk in the morning. You can soak them at room temperature or in the refrigerator, if I soak longer than four hours I usually pop them into the fridge. You dont have to tightly cover the container, but I usually put something over it to keep the dust out if I have it on the counter.

Make as much as you need for the week on Sunday, it will keep in the refrigerator in a mason jar for about a week. Twelve ounces is just about right in my house for two people to have a splash each morning. Double the recipe if you need more. Just like store-bought stuff, it might separate a little which is no big deal, just shake it up before using.

Nutrition Q& a: Which Is Healthier Coffee

COFFEE MATE NATURAL BLISS Almond Milk Caramel All

Q: Which is a better choice to use in my coffee? Coffee-mate® Fat Free Vanilla or Coffee-mate® Sugar Free Vanilla?A: We wouldnt call either a good choice. Per tablespoon, the fat-free version of Coffee-mate® contains 25 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 0 grams of saturated fat. While the sugar-free version has 15 calories, 1 gram of fat, 0 grams of saturated fat, and the artificial sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

When choosing these creamers over milk and natural sweetener, youre opting to use a much more processed, artificial product in your coffee. But the number one downside to the fat-free and sugar-free Coffee-mate® products is the second ingredient that they both share partially hydrogenated oils which is code for trans fats. At first glance, youd think that the product doesnt contain any trans fats . But, heres the trick: If the amount of trans fats in a product is less than 0.5 grams per serving, its not required to be listed on the nutrition facts label.

Better option: In exploring the Coffee-mate® product offerings, we discovered that they now have a newer product line, called Natural Bliss, that contains nothing artificial just nonfat milk, cream, sugar, and carrageenan .

Best option: A quarter-cup 1% milk plus 1 teaspoon sugar. Youre getting calcium from the milk, without the fat or saturated fat you get with cream, and you get a little sweetness without too many calories

Natural Bliss Is Proof:

There are truly more coffee creamers available than ever, as you’ve probably noticed. These days, you may even find this section of the supermarket to be growing a little overwhelming.

Dina R. D’Alessandro, MS, RDN, CDN is a registered dietitian nutritionist and lecturer at the City University of New York’s Herbert H. Lehman College. D’Alessandro noted that one particular brand, Natural Bliss, offers three types of creamersdairy, non-dairy, and “functional” .

This shows how Natural Bliss allows you to choose according to your specific dietary needs, our expert says but shortly, she’ll weigh in on why Natural Bliss’s choices aren’t always so blissful.

Coffee Mate: Sweet Flavors

Like International Delight, Coffee Mate gets creative with its creamers. The brand is keen on adding seasonal flavors to its arsenal of sweet creamers, but some core products include crème brulée, hazelnut, caramel macchiato and Italian sweet cream. They all have similar nutritional profiles, racking up 35 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 5 grams of sugar per tablespoon.

Califia Farms Better Half

This unflavored creamer was our testers favorite of the bunch. Its made of half coconut cream and half almond milk. Tasters liked that it had just a touch of sugar, which took the edge of the nut-milk thing, and complemented the coffees bitterness. Each tablespoon has 20 calories, 1.5g of sat fat, and 1g of sugar.

Ingredients That Sound More Like Chemicals Than Food

You know the saying, dont eat anything your grandma wouldnt recognize as food? Well, its not a bad philosophy to live by and can be applied when searching for a healthy creamer!

Flip over to the label of your coffee creamer and it can quickly become apparent that its made up of several chemicals and artificial ingredients, rather than milk and cream alone.

Ingredients such as dipotassium phosphate, sodium sterol lactylate, and mono- and diglycerides are red flags when it comes to your health. These strange sounding ingredients translate to thickeners, buffering agents, and trans fat, which can lead to an array of health problems ranging from inflammation, to digestive issues, and even kidney failure.
