La Colombe Draft Latte
With Summers arrival here in the Northern Hemisphere, there has been an inevitable influx of cold coffee drinks making their debut in cafés and grocery stores across the country. Of course, cold coffee drinks are great at any time of year, which is probably why La Colombe didnt wait too long to release their Draft Latte to the masses in a convenient ready-to-drink can.
The Draft Latte was conceived as a more convenient way to serve up iced lattes to La Colombes customers. Traditionally, an iced latte is made by pulling a shot of espresso, steaming milk, and then pouring the combination over ice.
Suffice to say, it isnt a quick process. So La Colombes CEO, Todd Carmichael, tinkered with a recipe before finally coming up with something that tasted great and could be served on tap at La Colombe cafés.
Well, less than a year after the Draft Lattes in-store release, it was released in ready-to-drink form so that the drink could be distributed to a wider audience, particularly those who dont live near any La Colombe locations .

In the highly competitive ready-to-drink coffee space, it takes something special to get our attention. La Colombe managed to do just that with the introduction of its canned dairy-based Draft Latte line in 2016, and they did it again this year with the launch of Draft Latte with Oat Milk, available in Original, Vanilla and Caramel varieties. La Colombe’s New Canned Oat Milk Lattes Are Another Plant
Back in 2017, La Colombethe beloved third-wave coffee company based out of Philadelphiamade headlines for launching the world’s first canned, frothy draft latte, using nitrous oxide to create the texture. The brand started out with a standard latte, before branching out to more trendy and seasonal flavors, including pumpkin spice and honeysuckle. Now, it’s expanding the lineup with yet another buzzy ingredient that’s been steadily trickling its way into coffee shopsoat milk. In August, La Colombe announced that it would be launching a canned version of their oat milk draft lattes, which they introduced to their on-tap menu in June 2018. The lattes debut this week and come in original, vanilla, and caramel flavors, all packed into a nine-ounce canwith an office full of oat milk fans, we were immediately curious about the taste.
If you want to try the lattes yourself, they launch on September 5 at all 30 of the brand’s cafés, as well as on the website, Amazon, and “select retailers nationwide,” including Wegmans and Harris Teeter. Each can will set you back $3.49. In addition to oat milk, La Colombe also offers several other plant-based drink options, including the coconut draft latte, coconut mocha draft latte, Colombian cold brew, Brazilian cold brew, nitro cold brew lemonade, and nitro cold brew grapefruit.

I have tried both the canned draft latte and the draft latte from the tap. They are both amazing. I first tried the can. I sipped it from the special sip top, but I especially liked it when poured into a glass. The draft latte from the tap is really something to talk about. It was so light a fluffy, it was like drinking a milky coffee cloud. But I do have to agree, it has more of a milky taste and not as much coffee taste. I also did try the black & tan, which is half cold brew and half draft latte over ice. Very, delicious. Thanks for the review!

Ive had the Latte and the Mocha and believe your review is spot on. I drink my coffee black and agree a bit more coffee flavor would be good. Otherwise, the flavor is impressive. The Mocha is pretty much the perfect chocolate milk drink for grown ups. A splash of vodka might work too. They both elicited OMG from my wife. Im excited to see these in cans as we can stock up on the boat. We purchased ours from Harris Teeter in Charleston, SC so we dont have to mail order or wait until we get back to Philadelphia. I love good coffee and espresso but, sometimes you just want a latte on the rocks.

If you like iced lattes, then you should definitely give La Colombes Draft Latte a shot.
It beats the snot out of many of the iced lattes Ive tried directly from cafés in terms of taste, so for that reason alone I think its worth it.
If however, you dont enjoy cold coffee drinks or coffee drinks with a pretty subdued coffee flavor, you probably wont like the Draft Latte too much.
And while I do consider myself mostly part of this latter camp, I still enjoyed the Draft Latte thoroughly. So hey, maybe youll like it too?

The lattes are made using La Colombes proprietary process of infusing beverages with nitrous oxide which creates a unique creamy texture.
