I write the above sentence with absolutely no disdain. Sometimes youve got all weekend to make a dough, simmer a sauce, and lovingly put together a homemade pizza. Other times, you want to throw something frozen in the oven and have dinner ready in 20 minutes. If your main objective is to simply get coffee delivered to you hot, quickly, and consistently, then the Nespresso is a pretty good investment.

First off, the Vertuo is fast. Like, scary fast. When I brewed one of the smaller podsthe ones meant for espresso-style drinksit took one-minute and three seconds for the coffee to brew. Thats wild considering that the water in the brewing tank is about room temperature, so the machine is able to get water to around 200°F absurdly fast. Coffees brewed with the larger pods didnt take much more time than that: every drink was done within two minutes of pressing the brew button.

What Milk Or Alternative Milks Go Best With Lattes

The milk is important when it comes to lattes and cappuccinos, because the foam is a large part of what makes up the drink. We recommend whole milk because of its high fat content. This balance of fat, protein, sugar and water produces a more stable foam that holds even tiny microfoam bubbles.

The taste and composition can differ depending on the brand of milk, so make sure to find one that works for you.

For non-dairy milk, we recommend Oatly Barista Edition Oat Milk. We prefer oat milk because it is allergen-free and has a mild taste that disappears in the taste of the coffee.

Even if you choose to go with a different alternative milk, always go for the barista edition. Non-dairy milk does not froth as well as whole milk because it has different composition of proteins and fats. Barista editions add stabilizers to help the milk foam.

A faulty thermocouple can be another reason for your Nespresso frother not working. A thermocouple is an electrical component that senses the temperature of the milk. If the component is damaged it will alert the controller of the machine even if the milk is at the required temperature.

Solution: Replace the thermocouple for the Nespresso machine to work properly. It has a slide connection to the printed circuit board, therefore, it can be taken out easily. Before installing the new thermocouple in the Nespresso machine, add a thermal lubricant to transfer the heat from the processor to the controller.
