My Quest For A Pottery Barn Dupe

Style My Console & Coffee Table| Neutral Spring Decor | DIY Pottery Barn Vase Dupe

Personally, I love Pottery Barn, and own their throw pillows, flatware, napkins, and even their sectional sofa! Pottery Barn displays their products beautifully and I love thumbing through the pages of their catalogs. Sometimes theres something I see at Pottery Barn that I just cant find anywhere else, but often, with a bit of looking, I can find a good dupe.

My quest for the perfect Pottery Barn dupe started when I wanted a paneled mirror for my family room. I loved the Eagan mirror at Pottery Barn but it wasnt in my price range. So I scoured the internet for the perfect dupe, eventually finding one from Litton Lane!

So today, Im sharing some of my favorite Pottery Barn dupes with you so you can get the look for less. Affiliate links provided for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

The five most important things to keep your mind in mind when building pole barns are apparent. However, there are some things you should consider prior to beginning building your barn. The first is to choose the ideal spot to build your barn. One of the most important aspects to think about when selecting the location for your barn is where the rainwater will flow away without entering the barn. You should also think about how easy it will be to get into the shed using your livestock and machinery. Once you’ve chosen the best location for your barn, you will have to draw up a detailed plan. Also, consider which materials are available in your area to build your barn. This will directly affect the cost of construction.

Easy Coffee Table Decorating Ideas

As the first thing people see when they enter your living area, a coffee table is the focal point of your living room and is central to the rooms furniture layout and mood.

In fact, one of the most important things to consider when decorating a center table in a living room is the overall feel of your living room, including the color palette and décor style of the rest of your living space.

Do you love a cozy living room? Are you drawn to a modern look, with clean lines? Or do you prefer something in between? Knowing this will help you choose the type of decorative items to place on your living room table.

Also, when choosing decorative objects for your center table, take into account how you plan to use the table.

A coffee table might be used to display decorative items and books, to hold drinks and remote controls, as a footrest, as a dining table, as additional storage space, or as a place to entertain, play games, and do puzzles.

The coffee table tends to be a landing space for a lot of stuff, so remember to think about where youll put your coffee cup or wine glass, remote controls, and phones, as well.

How Much Space Should You Allow Between Your Coffee Table And Sofa

While were on the subject of coffee tables, most designers recommend allowing about 16 inches between a coffee table and your accent chairs or sofa, to allow plenty of room to navigate around the space.

Depending on where you live, you might refer to the center table in your living room as a coffee table, tea table, occasional table, or cocktail table. But no matter what you call it or how you decorate it, a living room center table is the perfect place to add your own personal touch and style to your home.

I hope you found this post informative and helpful! I think the best thing about decorating a coffee table is that it allows you to create your own personal space and look.

Let me know if you have questions on how to decorate a center table in the living room. By the way, many of the ideas in this post are also perfect for decorating a dining room table, a console table, side tables, foyer table, or an upholstered coffee table or ottoman, as well.

We havent had a coffee table for years! I love them, love styling them, love the function they add, but having one doesnt always work out. Our daughters are eight and a half years apart, so weve had littles rolling around the ground and jumping off sofas for a while it just didnt make sense for the way we used our family room. Then there was the challenge of finding one I loved and was willing to pay for. For years Ive been searching for vintage pieces to create my own coffee table, checking Facebook Marketplace for a unique piece to restore, but no luck. When I finally found one that I really liked and felt would coordinate with my coordinated living room pieces, it was way out of my budget. So, I decided to build a Pottery Barn coffee table copycat, but not from scratch. Instead, I built a simple cover that slides onto an existing tabletop that I didnt love so much!

Filed in PROJECTS & DIY March 28, 2022

The first project of the year a refresh in our newly updated living room including built-ins. When we did the fireplace a few months ago I hadnt fully committed to the idea yet. Im glad we waited on it to get it just right, but now that its done a new coffee table design was needed for the space. Ive been drooling over this pottery barn coffee table for months and knew it would look perfect with our DIY console table.

We took the same approach as our DIY console table with 2x4s. Using only 11 2x4x12 boards we created this beautiful, solid coffee table. Our Dimensions: 38L x 19 ¾W x 18H But you can easily adapt to your own specific dimensions.

Cut 13 2×4 boards to desired length and 13 boards to desired width be sure to account for 45-degree angles for each end 3 on each end or 6 total. Repeat a second set for width and length total of 2 side width pieces, each one including 13 boards across. Also, total of 2 length pieces, each one including 13 boards across.

Using 3 screws drill pieces together minus two on each end. For those use wood glue. Wood glue and clamp the two end pieces to avoid exposed screws.

Take each side and length piece and router 1/8-1/4 off for a smooth seamless finish on each slab piece.

Then, use a drop of wood glue with a 3/8 dowel rod inserted into each hole, hammer in. Hand saw off excess and sand smooth. Repeat on the top and bottom on each side.

How To Decorate A Coffee Table In 3 Steps

Keeping the above tips in mind, heres a quick and easy way to make a coffee table look more polished and pulled together in 3 simple steps:

  • Start with one or two stacks of big books, adding a stack of marble coasters, a bowl, box, or vase on top of each stack of books.
  • Incorporate a square, rectangular, or round tray containing a plant or flowers, a pretty candle, and a small decorative item like a candle snuffer, paper weight, or orb.
  • Finish with a pretty lidded box to hold your remote controls.
  • Then, just keep editing and tweaking until you like the way it looks!

When decorating a round coffee table, here are a few additional suggestions:

    • Start with a tray. A round tray works well on a round coffee table, but a square or rectangular tray is a great option, too.
    • Add one large piece that will act as a focal point. This could be a vase, jar, or sculptural object. If you use a vase, you can fill it with fresh florals and greenery or leave it empty as a sculptural piece.
    • As suggested above, work with groupings of three. If you need to create height, you can use a stack of books or lidded boxes.
    • Layer in a few smaller decorative pieces likes beads, magnifying glasses, candle snuffers, small bowls, or a stack of coasters.
    • Many round center tables also have a bottom tier, which provides another styling opportunity. On the bottom tier, you could add a substantial statement piece, such as a large decorative bowl or basket.

Modern Coffee Table Decorating Ideas: Easy Tips And Ideas

I hope youre having a great week! If youve been wondering how to decorate your coffee table, todays post is for you! Im talking about a subject I love styling a coffee table. Ill be sharing simple tips on how to decorate the center table in your living room or sitting area, including inspiration photos, styling ideas, decorative items, and creative ways to add a touch of modern style to your living room.

Whether you have a small space or an expansive living area, today Im sharing my favorite coffee table decorating ideas, inspiration, and tips, including how to style and decorate any size or shape of coffee table.

Make Your Coffee Table The Focal Point

    Reclaimed wood and iron tables.

In every home, the coffee table offers a fresh expanse where you can share drinks, games and design centerpieces with loved ones and guests. This piece of furniture gets used nearly every day in most homes, if not nearly all day or evening. A table that does so much heavy lifting deserves to be special. Create a signature look in your living room with a gorgeous table.

A Simple Update Refreshes The Whole Room

When you make your coffee table the focal point of the room, the whole look changes. A signature piece is one that grabs all the attention when you or guests walk in the room. It’s the singular furnishing piece that sets the tone for your design’s character or mood.

This is a great contender for your signature piece because it’s so easy to dress up or change its look with home accents as you replace other furniture, too.

    • If you love the look of leather furniture, select a heavier table that substantiates the big style you’ve chosen. By contrast, you could decide on a low-profile table, like one with slim legs or a glass top.
    • A room with lots of twill upholstery looks great with the warmth of a wood table. Stack yours with books, lanterns or bowls and bowl fillers.
    • In an airy living room, the coffee table can help anchor the space and give the room a stronger feel. A table you use to add heft to a room can bridge design styles when you adorn it with candles or decorative boxes.

    Layer In Some Decorative Pieces

Next, walk around your house and gather items such as sculptural objects, trays, lidded boxes, baskets, orbs, glass vases, accent pieces, mementos from your travels, stoneware, pottery, bottles, and bowls. Grab anything that has visual interest and makes you happy.

Then sprinkle a few in here and there until you like the look.

To help create your desired mood or feeling, remember to include things that are both beautiful and sentimental and reflect your personal style.

    Kate Marker Interiorssimilar coffee table

Also the decorative accents you choose will depend on how much surface space you have and whether you have a small table, a glass table, a two-tiered coffee table, a round table, white coffee table, square table, or modern coffee table.

    Follow The Rule Of Threes

To decorate a center table in the living room, try adding something vertical, horizontal and sculptural. Combine items in groups of threespreferably with a tall item, a shorter, more sculptural item, and a horizontal item.

Put one object in front of another and the third a little off to the side to create more depth and give your table a natural look.

The goal is to tie it all together and create visual balance, so play with it a bit until it looks pleasing to the eye.

Be Mindful Of Color And Tone

Its always a good idea to make your coffee table décor cohesive with the rest of your living room décor. Sticking with a color scheme or repeated tones can make it easier to style your coffee table.

You might choose to go with a tone-on-tone look, alternate warm and cool tones, add a touch of bright color, or keep it neutral. Its all up to you.
