What Roast Level Is Blonde
Starbucks calls their Blonde Roast a light roast, but keep in mind that Starbucks is famous for roasting its beans very heavily. A light roast from Starbucks typically aligns with a medium roast from other coffee companies.
There are many roast levels and just as many names for roasts! Light roasts are often called Cinnamon, New England, or Half-City. Light roast coffee beans are typically taken off the heat right around the first crack, at a temperature of 356°F 401°F. Drinking It With Milk:
Again the aroma was mild but this time I detected something much sweeter and less earthy. It has less flavour when drunk this way but this is not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you look for in a coffee. When I buy lungo coffees I usually expect them to have less boldness in flavour and this one was no exception.
The chocolate tasting notes come through more but this is no more than a hint of milk chocolate after swallowing the coffee. It is very smooth and I could easily have drunk a few of these without wanting to grab a drink of water to quench my thirst.
The aftertaste of this coffee definitely lingers for a while and tastes like I have eaten several chocolates. I could not taste much of the nutty notes as advertised when drinking it with milk.

How Strong Is Blonde Espresso Compared To Other Coffee

Lets compare some of the most popular coffee drinks to see how strong blonde espresso really is. Ill just pull the amount of caffeine from some of the most popular coffee brands in the country to show you the difference.
Keep in mind that a shot of espresso comes in 1oz portions while coffee can be poured in mugs varying in size from as small as 6oz to as big as 16oz.
For comparisons sake, lets match the 1oz blonde espresso against an 8oz, or as Starbucks fans would say a short cup of coffee.
As mentioned before an original Starbucks 1oz shot of espresso has 75mg of caffeine. Thats a bit higher than the average caffeine content for espresso in America, which is 64mg. Both are lower than the 85mg of caffeine in blonde espresso.
An 8oz cup of coffee from Starbucks has 155mg of caffeine, but since there are so many different types of coffee on the market lets just use a range. Caffeine levels in black coffee can be as low as 90mg and as high as 200mg.
Caffeine in instant coffee tends to be significantly lower than fresh coffee beans. The most famous American instant coffee brand caffeine levels start as low as 57mg and go up to 135mg.
Finally, you should know, the caffeine levels of a latte or cappuccino are equal to espresso because each is just a shot with a different amount of steamed or frothed milk.

The review:
The package came in a standard looking Nespresso box but with the Starbucks branding and logo. The pods themselves come in orange aluminium with a silver coloured covering. Starbucks themselves claim that they use aluminium as opposed to plastic to preserve the flavour of the coffee for longer.
Drinking the coffee black:
The first thing that hit me when watching the coffee pour into my cup was its noticeable and nutty aroma. The nutty notes of the coffee were actually more subtle than I anticipated when drinking it for the first time. As an expresso shot the flavour was reasonably intense but not overpowering. The coffee had a fairly consistent flavour and gave a satisfying hit. I did notice a hint of bitterness afterwards which unfortunately detracted from the experience.
Drinking the coffee as a lungo definitely made the experience more pleasurable although it did diminish the strength of the coffee. If you are looking for a smoother black coffee with less bitterness then drinking the coffee this way may be the best option.
Drinking the coffee with milk:
I would however choose a different coffee if I wanted a more powerful hit. A lot of the essence of the coffee is missed when drunk this way but it is still a pleasure to drink.

Is Blonde Roast The Same As Blond Espresso
Blonde roast is a type of bean, whereas blonde espresso refers to the espresso made from those beans. They aren’t the same since you can make other styles of coffee from blonde roast beans. However, all blonde espresso is blonde roast coffee.
Starbucks packages their blonde roast as blonde espresso roast coffee, although you can use the same beans for other styles if you want to.

Nespresso Original Line Caffeine Content
How much caffeine is in a Nespresso pod for Original machines? Most capsules will have between 55 and 65 mg of caffeine. Espresso and lungo pods differ in the amount of caffeine. The Lungo capsules will have slightly higher levels, 77 to 85 mg, since they are bigger.
At the high end of the range, youll find that Palermo Kazaar has the most caffeine in it with 120 to 125 mg. On the other end, the decaf pods have the least. However, they are not 100% caffeine free. Most of the caffeine in Nespresso decaf capsules is removed and only 3 mg or less remains.
The Nespresso Intensity Scale
All Nespresso capsules have an intensity rating associated with them. Theres a common misconception that this number tells you about the caffeine content. However, the scale is really about the body, bitterness, and roast level of the coffee. Higher intensity ratings mean a heavier body, more bitter coffee, and more flavorful solids.
In many cases, higher-intensity coffee pods will also make stronger coffee . Thats because stronger flavors tend to mean more Robusta, a type of coffee bean that has more flavor than the standard Arabica beans.
That wont work in all cases, though. Darker roasts tend to be more intense, but they dont necessarily have more caffeine. The coffee-per-capsule can also vary, which will impact the flavor intensities and amounts of caffeine differently.
Since we cant rely on the intensity to tell us the caffeine content, lets just go straight to the ingredients list and nutrition info. Thats where well find the real amount of caffeine in these pods.

Pour Over Coffee Pods
If you have the Vertuo Next model, you have the option to brew a carafe pour-over style pod. This will be 18 oz in volume, which is more than two times the size of a regular coffee pod. However, the caffeine levels per 8 oz cup of coffee would be the same between the regular coffee and pour over capsules.
Caffeine By Ounce Or Volume
When comparing regular espresso shots and lungo shots by caffeine by ounce, a clear victor emerges. A regular shot of espresso contains on average around 75 milligrams of caffeine, whereas since lungo shots are brewed using more water they contain more caffeine.
Although they may have slightly more caffeine in them the caffeine per ounce is lower.
This increase in water levels cause an increase in caffeine, because more water is used as a highly-pressurized stream. This longer, more forceful stream, extracts more caffeine from the coffee grounds.
When comparing regular espresso shots and lungo shots by caffeine by volume the lungo shot has more caffeine in it in total.
As an aside, a ristretto shot contains the highest concentration of caffeine by volume of any espresso variation but less in total overall caffeine.

All espresso and lungo shots contain espresso grind in the capsules lungo shots are just a different variation of brewing espresso in that its basically a long pull more water is brewed through the same amount of grind resulting in a less potent espresso that is less fruity and more bold to the taste.

Safe Amounts Of Caffeine
The safe amount of caffeine changes depending on the person due to their individual tolerance, but as a rough guide 400600mg of caffeine per day should be absolutely fine. This is equivalent to approximately 46 average cups of coffee. If your tolerance is much higher, you can drink way more. Just make sure you pay attention to how your body reacts to caffeine its a fantastic stimulant with loads of positive health benefits but only if it is enjoyed responsibly!
Is Blonde Espresso Stronger How Much Caffeine In It
