The Effects Also Depend On How You Accompany Your Beverage

It’s not just about the tea itself it’s about how you take it, experts tell Bustle. Milk, honey, sugar, and other perks of your daily beverage routine all affect your health tea and coffee don’t exist in a vacuum.

Tea’s health effects also can’t be separated from the rest of your diet, Dr. Favini tells Bustle. “No matter how much tea you drink, things like your diet and exercise have a much bigger impact on your health than any beverage,” he says. A switch from coffee to tea is only a small part of your overall health profile.

You’ll Get A Lower Caffeine Dose

One cup of coffee carries quite a lot more caffeine than standard tea, though it depends on what type of tea you choose. According to Health, a single cup of green tea contains 24 to 45mg of caffeine, a cup of black tea contains 14 to 70mg, and the equivalent amount of coffee contains around 95 to 200mg. The difference in caffeine levels between green and black tea has to do to how they’re processed. Both kinds are made from the same plant, but the tea leaves used in green tea are steamed soon after being harvested, while the leaves in black tea are dried and crushed instead, giving them their unique flavor. Herbal teas like peppermint, meanwhile, have no caffeine at all.

If you’re very sensitive to caffeine and switch to black or green tea, this drop may be enough to give you symptoms of caffeine withdrawal, including headaches and irritability, but it’s unlikely, as there’s enough caffeine in both black and green tea to soothe any cravings. Switching to herbal tea, however, may induce withdrawal symptoms, as you’re effectively going cold turkey.

How To Make Healthy Coffee

By Jen Hansard | Published on 9.16.2020

Just like I believe in a daily green smoothie, healthy coffee is also a daily ritual I firmly believe in to kickstart my day. This coffee recipe isn’t just a caffeine boost, but an opportunity to infuse a variety of health benefits into your daily routine. Not all coffee is created equal… and it starts with the beans.

The Benefits Of Morning Tea

In short, tea beats any alternative morning drink. Although it may not have the same amounts of caffeine as coffee, nor the same levels of vitamin C as orange juice, tea has a host of other benefits that make the case for tea hot or cold being your new choice of drink in the mornings. Like coffee, tea can help clear up morning grogginess, but thats not all. Its true that tea contains less caffeine than coffee, but its caffeine contents should be just enough to give you the energy boost you need without overdoing it, and you can always have a second cup if you need it. The caffeine in tea isnt the only thing thatll help wake you up and clear your head in the morning: tea contains L-theanine and amino acids which slow how quickly the body absorbs caffeine. This may seem like a negative at first, but once you realize this will not only prevent jitters and crashes but give you consistent energy for a longer period of time, it becomes a huge positive. A few cups of tea in the morning can eliminate the need several cups of coffee throughout the day. You wont just be feeling better, but youll be saving money as well.

How Peanut Butter Makes This Smoothie Healthy

Im a huge fan of adding nut butters into my smoothies. In fact, its rare for me not to include some sort of nut butter. In this coffee smoothie recipe, I use peanut butter because, it is:

  • Absolutely delicious
  • A great source of energy
  • A great source of protein
  • Great source of healthy fat

It will also leave you feeling fuller longer, which is an important part of a smoothie for me.

A Balanced Healthy Coffee Recipe

Replace coffee with green tea in the morning. TikTok

Now that I’ve got the right beans for my coffee, let’s talk about what goes into that ‘perfect cup.’ For me, its a mix of moderation and using high quality ingredients. This healthy cup of coffee gives me stable energy, mental clarity, helps flush out my system and also keeps my skin glowing.

The recipe I use is quite radical for a cup of joe sorta person. It requires a blender , as well as a few niche products found through Amazon and the local grocery store.

The blender emulsifies the grass-fed butter and coconut oil, creating a creamy and frothy drink with a boost of beneficial fats. Its inspired by Dave Aspreys Bulletproof Coffee, who originally introduced me to this incredible coffee recipe.

Lately, I have been upgrading it EVEN more with grass-fed collagen powder. I think once you hit your 30s and the grey hairs start popping up, its time to take aging seriously. So Im investing in my longevity with high-quality collagen and loads of healthy fats which is exactly what this coffee recipe is all about.

If youre a decaf person, then I recommend using Dandy Blend, as it is the best coffee alternative out there, in my opinion. I’m in LOVE with this stuff! Its caffeine free, gluten free and delicious. I seriously dont even realize Im not drinking coffee, its so similar.

Your Alertness Levels Likely Won’t Change

You may worry that replacing your morning coffee with a less caffeine-heavy beverage might reduce your mental alertness, but studies show that this may not be the case. A study published in Appetite in 2012 found that tea, rather than coffee, was associated with perceptions of increased work performance, and people felt more on the ball while drinking it at work. Research published inPharmacology Behavior & Behavior in 2000, meanwhile, found that alertness doesn’t seem to change depending on what kind of caffeine you drink the same amount of tea or coffee seemed to produce the same effects on the people in the study.

These studies only looked at green and black teas, so it’s important to remember that caffeine-free herbal teas and tisanes may affect your alertness if you’ve been relying on caffeine to keep you focused in the mornings.

Youll Trim Your Waistline

One of the benefits of drinking green tea is that it can help you lose weight by making fat cells smaller and speeding up muscle cells. It also contributes to a slimmer waistline by speeding up your metabolism. In a study by the American Journal of Clinical Review, daily green tea consumption over 12 weeks helped individuals lose weight. Tea also has a lot less calories, especially if you are used to drinking your coffee with creamer.

Anthonys Chicory Root Granules

Chicory root has been used by various cultures including Egyptians for centuries who valued its curative effects on jaundice, gout, and enlarged livers. When Union blockades cut off the port of New Orleans during the Civil War, Louisianians added it to grounds to extend the coffee supply. Its still served in popular NOLA spots like Café du Monde.

Recreate the unique flavor profile at home by augmenting your stash with these organic caffeine-free granules during brewing. If youre looking for something caffeine-free to sip instead, simply brew Anthonys solo in a coffeemaker. Chicory is high in inulin, like Teeccino, which studies have shown promotes healthy gut bacteria colonization, weight loss, constipation relief, and blood sugar control. Warning: As the chicory plant is in the dandelion family, folks with ragweed or birch pollen allergies should avoid this coffee alternative as it has been known to cause similar reactions.
