Can I Have Premier Protein 3 Times A Day
No. You dont want to be chugging down premier protein for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Have nutritious whole foods instead.
Some people do like to use premier protein as a meal replacement.
However, in my mind premier protein drink should never be used as a meal replacement. Use it as a post/pre-workout drink.
What Makes Premier Protein So Concerning
Protein might just qualify as the number one over-achiever of the nutrient world for all the benefits it brings to our bodies. According to Medline Plus, protein aids our systems in repairing cells and forming new ones and Healthline states diets high in protein boast all sorts of benefits including reduced hunger, increased muscle mass, and improved metabolism. So, of course, manufacturers would find a way to produce protein supplements and package them in convenient shakes and powders that can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime.
Premier Protein is one such company and they have legions of fans, for sure. The brand’s chocolate protein shake has over 55,000 ratings on , while their Vanilla Whey Protein Powder has over 9,000 reviews, the majority of which are five stars. Commenters seem to love the products for their flavor, the whopping 30 grams of protein one serving packs, and their super-low sugar content. The Premier Protein website lists all of their shakes and powders as containing just one gram of sugar. But, it’s worth taking a look at what other ingredients these supplements contain that make them taste good enough to build such a following. To do that, Mashed spoke with Piper Gibson, AHND, TND, BCDNM, FDN-P, the holistic health and nutrition expert behind Regenerating Health. Her answers may make you reconsider whether Premier Protein is a worthy addition to your diet or not.
Premier Protein Caf Latte Review
Our favorite protein shake, Premier Protein®, is finally bringing its beloved café latte flavor to all Costco stores. If you havent yet heard of the brand, where have you been hiding? The Costco.com product page for the protein shakes is closing in on 20,000 reviews, with almost 17,000 customers giving the drink five stars. We were ecstatic when we heard they were shipping us some samplesweve seen it in other stores over the last year and a half and have been itching to give it a try.
As is our custom, we stacked the ready-to-drink shakes in the fridge when they arrived. This is optional of course, but weve found that we like them best chilled. The red-capped bottles were right in line with what weve become accustomed to, and the numbers on the front confirmed that it was nutritionally identical to the main shake line: 30g of protein with 160 calories, 1g of sugar and 3g of fat. Its also free of gluten and no artificial growth hormones were used to produce the milk for the protein and packed with 24 vitamins and minerals.
The next morning, we cracked open a shake with our partner and did our usual taste test. It went down as smooth as the others, this one creamy and true to its advertised coffee flavor. Were also happy to report that it isnt overly sweet, which is something were always wary of with flavors like this.

Naked Protein & Greens
Just because experts recommend a carb to protein ratio of 2:1 for optimal muscle recovery doesn’t mean if a drink has a 2:1 ratio it’s good to drink. For example, this Protein & Greens by Naked, which satisfies the 2:1 ratio, but contains an astounding 50 grams of sugar in one bottle. They might not be added sugars, but all are from fruit juice concentrates, which means that most of the sugars are fructosea sugar compound that can’t even be used by your body to replenish its glucose-based energy stores.
Should You Rely On Premier Protein Shakes
As a ready-to-drink meal replacement shake, Premier Protein certainly has some merits. The shakes have more protein than most other similar products. At the same time, some of the protein is in the form of whey protein and there is no soy protein present.
The shakes also come in a variety of flavors and are very low in terms of sugar.
But, it isnt all good news. For one thing, the shakes are heavily processed and include arange of artificial ingredients, including artificial sweeteners. The implications of this really depend on who you are and specifically what you need.
Realistically, relying on whey protein powder or something similar and making your own shakes is always going to be a better option. For that matter, focusing on whole food and a healthy lifestyle is more powerful still.
For example, many people rely on approaches like Paleo, low carb, ketosis or intermittent fasting to lose weight and stay healthy. Such options are extremely powerful, especially when you figure out an approach that works with who you are and your relationship with food.
That being said, there are some situations where having a ready-to-drink shake might be extremely useful, especially as these are high in protein and low in sugar.
If that is the case for you, then the Premier Protein shakes are certainly an appealing choice. Realistically, they are better than most other ready-to-drink shakes in terms of nutrition and this alone may be a reason to try them.

Peanut Butter And Chocolate Coffee Protein Smoothie
I found this recipe on Diethood and like the rest of the recipes here, its fairly simple.
Youre going to need a banana, natural peanut butter, chocolate protein powder, almond milk, and of course, brewed coffee made the night before.
If you noticed, ice isnt one of the listed ingredients. Thats because the recipe wants you to pour your pre-brewed coffee into ice trays to freeze overnight.

Relation Between Protein Shakes And Pregnant Womens Health
Yes, it is safe to take protein powders or protein shakes during pregnancy but not every protein powder is manufactured equally.
Protein powder is a term used to refer to all types of things, starting from meal replacement shakes to weight-loss shakes.
They can be manufactured from peas to soy to wheat and mixed with all sorts of different ingredients, sweeteners, and additives.
A pregnant woman must ensure is to consume whole food nutrients through a balanced and nutritious diet. So, substituting meals with protein shakes or supplements is not at all advisable.
However, including a scoop of good quality and clean protein powder wont be devastating to the woman or the baby.
Therefore, youll want to choose a protein powder with a straightforward formula and no additional minerals and vitamins, or minerals.
If you find any such ingredients which you dont recognize and have complex chemical terms and names, its best to avoid them!
This is because you must know precisely what youre intaking for your and your babys body!

When Should You Drink A Ready
“Following a heavy workout, it is important to get in an adequate amount of protein and carbs for sufficient recovery in a timely manner. This means consuming around 15 to 30 grams of protein, depending on individual factors, within 30 to 60 minutes after you’ve completed the exercise. A protein shake can be a lot more convenient and nutritionally balanced compared with other foods,” says Moskovitz.
Is Premier Protein Good For Weight Loss
If you have premier protein drink for all your meals, then no. Its not good for weight loss. Its not worth the health risk, considering the artificial ingredients of sucralose, flavorings within premier protein.
However, there is no denying premier protein contains all the macros needed to lose weight.
So this lead me to my next point.

Some days, I really just dont have the time/energy/appetite for making breakfast. This Iced Coffee Protein Shake has become an absolute staple. Its filling, gets me my caffeine fix, and is only 1 WW SP.
Kris Gethins Iced Protein Coffee
First of all, if you dont know who Kris Gethin is, hes one of the most notable bodybuilders in the fitness industry. Man or woman, theres something we can all learn from him, including the way he makes is iced protein coffee.
You can throw in a bit of almond milk there if you want. And, of course, you dont have to use the same brands as he does. Also, if you want your drink with more kick to it, use some other type of coffee instead of decaf.
Moving on, the difference between his version and most others you find on the internet is that he replaces whole milk with water and casein.
Science has proven that our bodies absorb casein at a much slower rate than whey. So, if you take both of them , youre theoretically extending protein synthesis and therefore building muscle more efficiently and effectively.
The exclusion of whole milk in this recipe, according to Kris Gethin, also eliminates the fat and sugars you generally get with milk. So, if youre trying to reduce those macros in your diet, this should work well for you.

What Is Premier Protein
Premier Protein is a relatively well-known brand that offers a range of different types of protein-based products. Of these, the most well-recognized are the ready-to-drink shakes, which come in a variety of flavors. These currently include:
- Strawberry & Cream
There is also an organic chocolate and an organic vanilla shake.
The nature of the company is also interesting. On this site, Ive reviewed a range of different protein shakes from various companies. In most cases, those companies used direct sales and a model called multi-level marketing.
That design means that the company heavily relies on distributors to sell the products. This isnt the place to go into that concept too much. But, that type of company can be frustrating, as the products are often heavily hyped and are often quite expensive.
In contrast, Premier Protein doesnt follow this model. Because of this, the shakes are considerably less expensive and are easier to find. For example, you can buy them from , from the companys website and from many physical stores. In fact, Ive seen some flavors of Premier Protein in places like Meijer and Kroger.
Cafe Mocha Protein Shake
This, I got from Jennifer Meyering and it calls for 1 and ½ scoop of protein powder. Specifically, 1 scoop of vanilla whey and half a scoop of chocolate whey.
Needless to say, this recipe is packed full of protein. Depending on the brand of protein you use, maybe even more so than The Protein Chefs ice coffee
This recipe also uses cold brew coffee. If you dont know how to do that, its actually very simple and Jenn has another guide to help you out. Other ingredients youll need include unsweetened almond milk and, of course, ice.

Premier Protein Caramel Coffee Creamer Replacement Hack
We make money from support by sponsors, advertisers, and affiliate partners. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
For the past few months I’ve been using Premier Protein shakes as a quick meal replacement for breakfast and mid-day snacks. The other day though, I came across an interesting idea – instead of using creamer for your morning coffee, try Premier Protein Caramel flavored shake instead. This way you get a nice cream flavor plus a hit of sweet caramel without worrying about adding extra sugar or fat.
I’m not sponsored by Premier Protein at all but I do want to give them a shoutout. The shakes taste great and provide plenty of protein – 30g in the Caramel Protein Shake with 160 calories, 1g of sugar, and 24 vitamins and minerals.
In my case, I tried this with iced coffee, though frankly, the Caramel Pretin Shake creamer replacement works better in regular coffee or simply make the coffee extra strong.
There’s not much more to this idea but I wanted to share it with you guys since it helps turn a boring diet idea into a fun meal replacement hack.
Caffeine In Whey Protein Powders
This author has been verfied for credibility and expertise
Caffeine is a stimulant used in some ergogenic aids such as whey protein powders to help enhance athletic performance. Numerous studies have examined the effects of caffeine consumption on athletic performance, and the American Dietetic Association and the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition have both published stands on caffeines effect on athletic performance 1. Only certain whey protein powders contains caffiene.

They might be naturally sweetened, but that doesn’t justify gulping down nearly 50 grams of sugar in a bottle. It’ll give you a solid dose of protein along with vitamins and minerals, but you’ll most likely start to feel hungry soon after guzzling down the nearly 400-calorie bottlewhich isn’t great news if you’re on a calorie-restricted diet.
Synthetic Vitamin And Mineral Blend
Premier Protein Shake contains a blend of vitamins and minerals. Food companies often do this to beef up the nutrition label on their product. This is especially common in the alternative milk industry. Consumers will think their almond milk is significantly more nutritious than whole milk because the almond milk manufacturer added a bunch of synthetic vitamins so the Supplement Facts label looks impressive.
There is no benefit to taking synthetic vitamins if youre not deficient, and supplementation should only be used to correct a deficiency or maintain optimal levels based on testing.
Its evident based on some of the vitamin choices that Premier Protein was looking to use the cheapest rather than the most effective compounds for this blend. Vitamin K1 is used instead of Vitamin K2 which is about 10x better absorbed. Vitamin K1 is also easy to get through diet while K2 isnt.
For Vitamin B9, Premier Protein Shake chooses folic acid rather than the superior methylated form of folate, which is much better absorbed and arguably safer. As we discussed in our review of the wildly popular Goli ACV Gummies, folic acid is synthetic and has a weak association with cancer because it can be hard for the body to clear unlike dietary folate.

Why Mix Protein And Caffeine
Theres a bit of chatter around the fitness community about whether or not you should be mixing protein and coffee in the first place. The issue is about caffeine disrupting protein absorption.
Heres what science has to say about that:
A relatively recent study states that caffeine doesnt alter the rate of protein synthesis after working out even if you took your caffeine before you started your session. So, NO, caffeine doesnt seem to have any negative effects on how your body processes protein.
Moreover, the same study says that caffeine intake increases AMPK expression, which basically means your body becomes more efficient in using fat and sugar for energy.
This doesnt surprise me at all considering how caffeine has a reputation for being one of the best fat-burners and energy boosters the world has to offer.
Its why a lot of weight loss supplements, pre-workouts, and energy drinks have caffeine as their main ingredient.
I know. Coffees pretty darn great. But, you should also know your limits.
