Nespresso Lattissima One Review: Design

Coffee Machines, including ones bearing the Nespresso badge, can sometimes look plasticy and clumsily put together. Not so with the Lattissima One. It boasts bold shapes and angles that compliment its plastic and metal design. The water and milk jug sit flush against the machines body while both the coffee and milk spout both manage to look stylish.

The downside to the compact design is that the machine doesnt have the biggest water tank. At 1 litre, its on the small side for the industry. Its milk jug, 0.12 litre, is equally tiny but, as we mentioned above, this is deliberate to prevent wasted milk.

The Machine is only available in two colours. Mocha Brown or Silky White.

Other features worth making note of theres automatic shut off to save energy, and the water tank holds more than enough water for 17 doubles before it needs to be refilled , you can use the cup riser or remove it to brew a bigger cup, and the pod bin holds about 10 discarded pods. All the pieces are washable.

Nespresso Lattissima One: Our Verdict

If you prefer the ease and convenience of using capsules, the Nespresso Lattissima One is a great choice. Its also beautiful to look at and doesnt take up much horizontal space on your countertop. But keep in mind that it only uses Nespresso-compatible capsules, and this can get pretty expensive over time. Otherwise, we highly recommend it.

What Is The Nespresso Lattissima Range

In the world of Nespresso, there are Original line models that make only espresso and Vertuo models that make both espresso and coffee. Among the Original line machines, there are more basic models like the Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ and Inissia and then more advanced and premium models like the Creatista and Lattissima. The Creatista and Lattissima models have built in milk frothing capabilities so you can make lattes and cappuccinos with the push of a button. The basic models require you to buy an Aeroccino milk frother accessory to make these drinks. The Lattissima range is made by DeLonghi. The Creatista range is made by Breville. Both DeLonghi and Breville are Nespresso manufacturing partners and global leaders in small kitchen appliances.

There are currently five different Nespresso Lattissima machine models made by DeLonghi the Gran, Pro, Plus, Touch and One. As you will see in my Nespresso Lattissima comparison guide below, the Gran and Pro have some additional features that the other three dont. That is why they are more expensive.

The Lattissimas Signature Rapid Cappuccino System

Unlike the Nespresso Creatista Pro and Plus which froth milk using a steam wand and a stainless steel jug, all Nespresso Lattissima models have milk container that attaches to the machine. With a press of a button it will prepare the milk for the type of drink you selected. It is programmed to add milk in the correct order either before or after brewing the espresso depending on the recipe. This functionality unique to the DeLonghi Nespresso Lattissima models is called the Rapid Cappuccino System. Its a bit of a misnomer since the Lattissima models can also make lattes, but it is quick and easy!

The Rapid Cappuccino System is removable on all Nespresso Lattissima models. If there is milk left in it, you can store it in the fridge for a couple of days. To clean it 2-3x a week, you will need to disassemble it. You can wash it by hand or in the top rack of your dishwasher.

Nespresso Lattissima One Review: How To Use

There isnt an easier coffee machine to operate on the market. The Nespresso Lattissima One is a capsule coffee machine that comes with just three buttons. Insert your capsule and press one button for an espresso, another for lungo and third for either a latte or a cappuccino. The third button works out whether you want a cappuccino or latte type of milk-based coffee you get depends on how much milk you put in the jug.

The milk jug is another area that Nespresso has evidently worked on. Its been designed to use all the milk in the jug . The jug has two markers to let you know how much milk to put in for a latte and how much milk to put in for a cappuccino. Fill the jug to the cappuccino line and the Lattissima One will automatically dispense foamed milk into your mug. Fill it to the latte marker and the machine will first pour hot milk into your jug, followed by foamed milk giving you a traditional espresso latte.

Coffee machines that feature built-in milk jugs can often cause more hassle than their worth as milk goes off quickly. The Lattimssa One combats this by making its milk section (comes in five parts all dishwasher safe. The other trump card it has is that it uses all of the milk in the jug so theres less milk to turn in the first place.

Nespresso By Delonghi Lattissima One: Milk Drinks

Lets move on to the milk drinks

As I noted up front, this machine will make only three milk based drinks: lattes, cappuccino, or espresso macchiato. It also wont work with alt milks and is only designed to work with cows milk.

The milk container is labelled and will show you how much milk to add for each drink you have to add the right amount manually and it will use all the milk in the jug so its up to you to measure correctly.

Nespresso By Delonghi Lattissima One Review

This machine differs from some other Nespresso machines out there in that this one will also steam milk automatically and means you can make lattes, cappuccino, or espresso macchiato. It uses the Nespresso Original pods in the machine.

I got to spend a couple of weeks with the Nespresso by DeLonghi Lattissima One Ill tell you about my experience with it, what it can do, how it works and the pros and cons after having it in my home for a week.

Nespresso Lattissima One: Using The Coffee Maker

A box of 14 Nespresso Capsules is included, with a variety of flavors, such as Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio Decaffeinato, and Ispirazione Venezia. There are also selections from the Master Origins collections , and specific Lungo flavors , Espresso , and Flavored Barista Creations (like Caramel Crème Brulee, and Cocoa Truffle.

The machine only uses Nespresso-compatible capsules. You can purchase a box of 30 Nespresso Capsules at Amazon for $33.00, which is a little more than $1 a serving, or directly through Nespresso. Other types of Nespresso Capsules are currently 50 for $35, which is more economical. However, it can still add up if youre using them every day or if theres more than one coffee drinker in your home.

The Nespresso Lattissima One is easy to use. There are only 3 buttons: Espresso, Lungo, and milk beverages, so its as simple as pressing the button for which drink you want. I love theres no fumbling around and no learning curve.

Also, the machine doesnt take long to heat up. Its ready to brew an epresso in 25 seconds and is ready for milk beverages in just 40 seconds.

To make an espresso, I just filled the water tank with water, inserted a capsule, and closed the lid. Since I was using an espresso glass well actually thats a cappuccino glass I also used the cup support and pressed the espresso button.

The Nespresso Lattissima One is a great coffee machine for someone who wants to enjoy Nespresso-quality coffee with minimal effort. There are cheaper and better Nespresso coffee machines out there the Lattissima One sits nicely in the middle of these. Making it a unique and excellent coffee machine all-rounder.

What To Know About Nespresso Pods: Environmental Impact And Cost

Ive talked in other reviews about the environmental impact of coffee pods so Ill just recap quickly here. Nespresso has a pod recycling program and even pays the shipping. Pods cost about 70 cents to a dollar per pod which I find reasonable given coffee shop prices.

When it comes to the coffees and their taste, theres lots to enjoy. I find the coffees, packaged in their little cups to be fresh, and with the huge number of different roasts, tastes, flavours and options, youre certain to find some you love. Bottom line here, the coffee is good.

Nespresso Lattissima One: First Impressions And Unboxing

The Nespresso Lattissima One is securely packed to keep the machine safe during the shipping process. In addition to the espresso maker, the packing contents also include the user manual, a box of 14 capsules, a Welcome to Nespresso folder, and a water hardness test stick.

The Nespresso Lattissima One is lightweight, weighing just 9.3 pounds the dimensions are 6.05 W x 12.75 D x 10.07 H.

Theres a detachable water tank on the backside of the machine. The descaler pipe is hidden in the descaling pipe storage area, which is also on the backside of the machine. The used capsule container and drip tray fit on the front left side. Theres also cup support with a grill for small containers.

The Rapid Cappuccino System, which attaches on the front right side, consists of a milk container, with a lid and milk spout.
