Starbucks Psl Dairy Queen And More
While a firm date isn’t known for the return of Starbucks PSL, the coffee giant said earlier this month that seasonal products were returning to grocery store shelves in August along with some new additions, including Pumpkin Spice Flavored Non-Dairy Creamer and Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew Concentrate.
Cracker Barrel kicked off fall Tuesday with the limited launch of its Pumpkin Pie Latte, which is available iced or hot until Nov. 29.
Tim Hortons’ pumpkin spice drinks and baked goods launch Aug. 25. Dairy Queen also said it is bringing back its Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat and Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake for a limited time. Originally, Dairy Queen announced its pumpkin items would return Aug. 30, but told USA TODAY now the products are “coming soon in early September.”
More pumpkin announcements are expected soon with products hitting store shelves and restaurant menus in the coming weeks.

So last year, during pumpkin season, I began the grueling task of trying to duplicate the popular Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte at home.
It wasnt too hard, because there were dozens of different recipes out there already, so I had a base to work with and then just kept changing it until I made it my own. Probably isnt exactly like Starbucks, but I didnt care because I loved my version.
Towards the end of the season, I started trying to put together a donut that had the same flavors as the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
I made donut batch after donut batch, adding and subtracting ingredients (with milk, without milk, with loads of strong coffee, with hardly any coffee, with cream, with less spice, with more spice, using a coffee simple syrup, then using a pumpkin spice simple syrup, using both, etc. etc. etc. until I could get as close to the Pumpkin Spice Latte flavor I loved and wanted in this donut.

Per its creator: “The handcrafted beverage combines Starbucks® Signature Espresso and steamed milk with flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove to complement the real pumpkin in the sauce.” When one writer went into a shop to sample the iced version the day PSL hit the market on August 30th, 2022, it was 85 degrees outside. But baristas were on autopilot and gave her the hot version.
But that’s cool-so to speak- because this is absolutely the premier incarnation of this drink, if you compare hot and iced, Dunkin’ and Starbucks.
Actual pumpkin pie flavors dominated. We reached for a second sip as opposed to the trash can. New Englanders know there to be a distinction between “pumpkin pie/ cider house” and “potpourri shop.” The former is all cinnamon and cloves, real apples, and light notes of nutmeg. It’s never bitter, always sweet, and populates the cider houses that sell hot cider, cider donuts, cocoa and pick-your-own-apples up and down the Northeast corridor.
This drink had that, and-although it momentarily creeped us out- the orange ring on the inside of the cup after we guzzled its contents suggested that the “real pumpkin” claims are true.

It’s always the right time for pumpkin spice, and it’s a tragedy so many places limit the drink to just two to three months out of the year. I usually mark down on my calendar the exact day Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts will release their fall menus, and then proceed to only consume pumpkin spice anything until I feel like pumpkin puree runs through my veins. But while I do enjoy looking forward to their return in coffee shops, I also wanted to learn how to make my own at home. Luckily, it’s not entirely a made-from-scratch drink, as it actually calls for the pumpkin spice coffee blend by Dunkin’ Donuts, but I still got to add in my own flair. The prep itself is incredibly simple, and I only used one pan. After brewing a cup of the coffee and setting a few mugs aside, I mixed pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice in a sauce pan, adding in sugar and vanilla to make a syrup. I definitely recommend following the instructions of stirring consistently and without getting distracted, because it’s easy to burn the mixture . Once the syrup blended together, I added in the milk and used one of the hand frothers I got from Ikea. I basically was like a TikTok coffee connoisseur.
