How to make Caramel Iced Coffee

So now that you’re good and convinced, let’s dive into how to make a homemade caramel iced coffee:

Start by pouring chilled coffee over ice.

I brew coffee in the morning and always have a little left over that I refrigerate for the afternoon, but you can also use store-bought or homemade cold-brew if you want to be a little fancier about it.

Add milk and cream.

Add caramel sauce.

For this I use my homemade caramel sauce made with milk. It lasts for a while and one batch will make you plenty of iced coffees.

Stir it all together and you’re good to go!

How To Make An Iced Caramel Latte

Step 1 Coffee

Pour the coffee into a glass over ice. Make sure it is room temperature or colder, this helps avoid the ice melting immediately. My coffee was still a bit warm when I went to make this for I popped it in the freezer for about 10-12 minutes, checking it fairly regularly to make sure that it had not frozen.

Step 2 Caramel

Pour caramel syrup into the coffee.

Step 3 Cream

Add cream to the iced coffee. I used half and half but any creamer or milk will work.

Begin With A Good Strong Cup Of Coffee

The first step to making a good coffee beverage is to make a strong cup of your favorite joe, so that it can hold its own on the flavor front. Once your coffee is ready, add the caramel sauce, and mix well before letting the mixture cool.

If you’re in the dark over the type of coffee you might want to use to make this drink, know that you won’t go wrong by picking a darker or more intense roast coffee, since a lighter roast may not yield a coffee robust enough to withstand the addition of milk, ice, and caramel flavoring .

Can You Store Leftover Iced Coffee In The Fridge

Yes and no. This really depends on how much of a coffee snob you are to be honest. If you’re used to a fresh brew, storing any leftovers in the fridge may not be a good idea. Cold brew typically lasts 2-3 days in the fridge if you’ve covered it properly the flavours will last a bit longer because it’s brewed cold.

However, drip coffee that has been chilled has a shorter shelf life before the robust coffee flavour starts to disappear and become stale. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it for more than 24 hours. However, there will be nothing inherently wrong with the coffee other than the taste so feel free to go ahead and judge by your taste buds.

How To Make The Best Caramel Sauce

EASY Iced Caramel Coffee Recipe | BETTER THAN STARBUCKS *delicious*

For this caramel sauce recipe you are going to need 3 things:

    • Sugar
    • Butter
    • A good quality heat-proof spatula and a whisk

You can also add some additional vanilla syrup to this recipe to create a caramel/ vanilla sauce. If you like salted caramel, you can whisk in some flaky salt when the caramel is cooling down.

To get things started, make sure you are using a heavy-bottomed pan to make this caramel. Heavy-bottomed pans distribute the heat more equally, so you will reduce the chance of burning your caramel.

Start by adding the sugar into your pan and letting it melt on low heat. Keep stirring throughout this process, but dont go too fast. When stirring too much, you upset the caramel, and clumps will form.

Once the sugar is completely melted, add the heavy cream. Be careful as the heavy cream will make the hot caramel sizzle, and you dont want the caramel to bubble out of the pan and onto your clothes. To be safe, you can always wear kitchen gloves.

Stir the sugar mixture until the cream is fully dissolved and the mixture has turned to a golden/ brown stage.

Now, add the butter into your caramel while stirring and allow the mixture to boil for a minute. The mixture will rise to the top of the pan. As this happens, remove from the heat and allow to cool completely.

    • Love cold brew? You can use it in this recipe for a different spin! HERE is a recipe for cold brew so that you can make it right at home!
    • Instead of ice, freeze extra coffee in an ice tray and use it in the iced latte to avoid it getting watered down!
    • It is up to you whether you would like to use milk or half-and-half in the recipe. Personally, I am a half-and-half person.
    • You can either use caramel sauce or caramel syrup. The difference between the two is that caramel syrup is meant for drinks and it is more liquidy, thus it mixes in a bit easier with the rest of the drink. Caramel sauce is more similar to the kind you drizzle on desserts . It also works but it is harder to mix in. I like to use the caramel syrup in the drink and then add whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce on top to make it a really indulgent treat.
