Does It Really Matter
Well to me it’s the principle of it more than anything. Caffeine is a drug, a naturally occurring drug, but a drug nevertheless.
We can’t buy more than two packs of paracetamol or Ibuprofen at a time.

What About Speciality Coffee
Im focusing on instant coffee here because such a high percentage of the UK population consumes it, and because its usually a blend of Arabica and Robusta, and since we dont know what the % is, its difficult to work out the approximate caffeine content per cup.
When it comes to speciality coffee from small batch roasters, we know exactly what coffee it is, most of the time its 100% Arabica, which makes it easy to work out, and if its an espresso blend with Robusta, roasters usually tell us what the % is, so we can work it out there or thereabouts.
According to caffeine informer, when it comes to 100% Arabica, there is on average 145mg of caffeine in an 8 ounce cup of drip / filter coffee, and 107.5mg in the same size cup of cafetiere coffee, and 77mg in a single shot of espresso, and double that of course in a double shot.

Adjust The Ground Level
Assuming that the brewing method stays the same, the finer you grind coffee, the more caffeine it will release. We can use this fact to our advantage by grinding the coffee a bit coarser to reduce the caffeine in our brew. Just make sure that you dont make the coffee grind too coarse, for youll end up with an underextracted brew that might taste like dish water.

But they arent as popular because a lot of their coffees are bitter and dark, so this combination doesnt really work. But you can also get the worlds strongest coffee in a packet. The instant version was made for astronauts, but its available to everyone.
