Why Use Coconut Milk In Coffee Creamer

Coconut milk has more calories than regular milk 445 calories per cup compared to 150 in a cup of whole milk because its full of healthy fats. Recent studies suggest that the MCT type of fat found in coconut milk can help you lose weight, manage your appetite, and recover after exercise. Its counter-intuitive, but this fatty food may be able to help you burn fat! Plus, coconut milk contains a variety of vitamins and minerals like potassium, iron, and vitamin C.

On top of the potential health benefits, coconut milk is creamy and smooth. The cans are affordable and shelf-stable, unlike regular milk, and the coffee creamer turns out pretty darn delicious. Now lets start cooking!

Ingredients For Vanilla Coffee Creamer

Youll have this combination memorized from the first time you make it. Just remember that its equal parts of the first two ingredients. Easy!

  • Half and Half just the right amount of creaminess for a cup of coffee without creating an oily film. Half and half is essentially equal parts of milk and heavy cream so you can make your own half and half if you want to.
  • Sweetened condensed milk use a standard 14 oz jar. It adds a milky sweetness.
  • Vanilla extract this is optional, but definitely adds a nice layer of flavor to make it vanilla coffee creamer. Homemade vanilla extract is great but a storebought real vanilla extract will work here.

Pro Tip: For a lower-calorie creamer, you can substitute the half and half with milk.

Are you addicted to the store-bought coffee creamer? I used to be too. Finally, heres a homemade coffee creamer that can beat those store-bought ones that are just full of nasty chemicals.

Hersheys coffee creamer used to be my go-to. In fact, thats all I would use. Not kidding when I say I would go through 4-5 of those containers in one week. I mean, I am homeschooling kids with toddlers and a baby around, so it only makes sense, right? Those little cups of creamer that you find in restaurants, I bought a huge box of those in the Hershey creamer flavor so that when I was other places, I would have my creamer. Obsessed is putting it lightly. My brain knew I needed to stop drinking it, but every time I tried a healthier creamer or tried making my own, it never even came close. Until now.

Which Is Best To Use

When you are deciding whether coffee creamer or milk is going to be the best addition to your coffee, there are a few things to keep in mind. Dairy milk is a good source of essential nutrients such as calcium and protein however, it is also quite high in cholesterol and fat. If you are looking for a low-fat or non-dairy alternative, almond milk can be an excellent choice. It is also highly nutritious and has fewer calories per serving.

If you want something that is going to add more flavor, richness, and sweetness to your coffee, then creamer might be the right choice for you. However, its important to bear in mind that many coffee creamers are high in saturated fat and calories, so it might not always be the best choice for those who are watching their weight.

Milk tends to dilute the coffee more than creamer as it has a higher water content, compared to creamer which is mainly made with fat and sugar. Creamer also tends to be stronger in flavor compared to milk which is quite subtle, so it might be a better choice for people who prefer creamy, sweet coffee.

When it comes to adding flavor and sweetness to your coffee, milk and sugar or coffee creamer are the two most popular options.

    The Healthiest Coffee Creamers

The explosion of interest in keto dieting has led to an explosion of products designed specifically for the low-carb diet market.

And that includes coffee creamers. You can find a number of keto-friendly creamers on Amazon or in some supermarkets many of them are even quite tasty, in addition to being good for your health.

One of the best is Super Creamer. Its made by the same company that produces keto-friendly, ready-to-drink Super Coffee, with most of the same key ingredients: cream, milk protein, zero-carb monk fruit sweetener, and the MCT oil that helps keto dieters lose weight quickly.

There may not be candy- or pastry-inspired varieties, but the sweet cream, coconut mocha, hazelnut and French vanilla flavors will add a tasty twist to any cup of coffee. Theyre low-calorie, zero-carb, zero-cholesterol, low-fat and the easiest way to add healthy creamer to your coffee without having to do any extra work in the kitchen.

    Creamer Base Recipe #:

    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 1 cup whole milk

    Directions:

Whisk together until fully combined or pour into a Mason jar, apply lid tightly then shake to combine. Store in the refrigerator. From here you simply add whatever flavorings to create your favorite sweet, flavored coffee creamer. Double even triple this recipe as you desire.

Curiously, this may appear to be a complicated way to make half and half, and youre partially correct. However, starting with heavy whipping cream makes a creamier, slightly thicker result, which I prefer and you may as well.

Note: If a recipe calls for a dry ingredient, such as cocoa powder, a spice like cinnamon, or a thick ingredient like honey, pour all ingredients into a saucepan and heat over medium heat to dissolve those ingredients so they will be absorbed into the base. Pour the finished creamer through a fine sieve to remove any tiny solids or bits of spice that may remain. Now you wont have them floating in your coffee.

How To Make Homemade Coffee Creamer With Heavy Cream

Im going to go through the half gallon amount with you here.

Start with boiling one cup of water. When it is boiling, add in 2-3 cups of brown sugar. You get to decide here. On days Im feeling healthy, I will do 2 cups. On days that Im tired, it will be a heaping 3-4 cups. Let this come to a boil and whisk it. Watch this very closely because it will boil over fast. My stove has had this spilled on it countless times.

After about a minute or two of whisking it, I will add in the milk. Now, I use raw milk, so the cream is there. You can totally use store bought whole milk too. If you want it creamier, buy some heavy cream and add it in there too. Just be aware that the store-bought heavy cream is full of additives that are horrible for you.

After pouring the milk in, whisk it a bit. Add in your salt and vanilla. Now you just need to get it in your mason jar without spilling. Good luck!

I get this amount, plus the amount that I spill as Im pouring it in. Pro tip: always put your mason jar in the sink and then pour your creamer in the jar. I wont tell you how many times it took me to learn that.
