How Do You Make Iced Coffee

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST ICED COFFEE AT HOME

Youll need a tall glass and a spoon long enough to reach the bottom of that glass.

Fill that glass full to the rim with ice. If you really want to get serious about your iced coffee, you can make ice cubes out of coffee too. Then you wont get that watered-down effect.; And if youre into that flavored sort of coffee then go for it.

Pour room temperature coffee into the glass.

Fill it almost to the top.

Pour in the white stuff. Heres where you get to make a big decision. Do you want to go all out and make this a decadent treat? If so, then add cream or half & half. If you want to go a little lighter, use whole milk or fat-free half & half. And lighter still, use nonfat milk.

Take a moment to watch the swirls sink to the bottom and mix in with the coffee. Its a magical moment. ð

Add a couple spoonfuls of sugar or whatever sort of sweetener you usually add to your coffee.; In the recipe notes below, I share how to make sugary simple syrup in case you prefer to use that instead of granulated white sugar.

Stir it all up!

Add a purple straw. If youre a straw person, that is. And drink up!

Im not much of a coffee drinker. No sirree. No caffeine needed. My body is hard-wired to have an abundance of natural energy from the moment I wake up. I guess Im lucky that way. I do love the flavor of coffee though coffee candies and coffee ice cream and even those foo foo frozen coffee drinks that contain your total allotted calorie consumption in just a dozen sips.

Thats why on one rather sweltering afternoon recently, I grabbed my husbands mug o coffee that had been sitting untouched on the counter all day long, and I made myself a rather delicious version of Iced Coffee.

Should I Use Ice Or Coffee Ice Cubes

You can use regular ice cubes or coffee ice cubes to make iced coffee at home. Coffee ice cubes give your iced coffee a stronger, richer coffee flavor. As they melt, your drink will maintain a higher coffee ratio. Of course, regular ice cubes will keep your iced coffee cold, but they may water down your drink.

How To Make Cold Brew Ice Coffee Just Like Starbucks

One of our favorite things to get in the summer is the Sweet Cream Cold Brew at Starbucks.

It has the bold coffee taste from the espresso and then a nice sweet creamy finish from their sweet cream. Plus its low on calories. Since Mike and I drink it non-stop during the summer I decided to recreate it at home.

The key to a good cold brew or iced coffee is coarse coffee grounds. On average you use about 1 cup of coarse coffee grounds for every 3-4 cups of water and let is steep overnight. In this recipe I used 4 cups of water, but you could use 3 if you like it stronger.

So whats the reason for coarse grounds? Coarse grounds allow for maximum flavor extraction of the bean because there is more surface area for the water to work with. Its also important for the filtering process. In order to actually drink the iced coffee you have to filter it after it steeps overnight. Its much easier to strain if the grounds are coarse than if they are fine.

Once all thats done, all you have to do is make the sweet cream and voila. The best Iced Coffee youll ever have with a delicious creamy Sweet Cream! Bon Appetit friends, I hope you enjoy this tasty change up in the morning!

How To Serve Cold Brewed Coffee

How to make the best cold brew coffee at home. This easy ...

Cold brewed coffee can be served iced or piping hot, dealer’s choice. You follow the same method for making the coffee either way, and then either serve it over ice or warm it up in the microwave for a hot cup. When warming it for hot coffee, I often add a splash of water to dilute the coffee before warming. But this, again, is a matter of personal taste.

Too strong for your taste? Iced coffee does make a particularly strong cuppa joe! If you’re serving it iced, the ice is meant to melt and dilute the coffee a little. If it’s still a bit too much for you, just dilute your glass with some water or milk to taste.

Brew At The Right Temperature

Youll extract the most flavor from coffee by brewing with water thats between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit,” Lui explains. Thats easy enough with a pour-over coffee makersimply bring water to a boil, let it stand briefly, then pour it over the grounds. Otherwise, use a stellar drip coffee maker to reach that temperature automatically.

The Cuisinart PerfecTemp DCC-3200, $100, remains our top-rated drip coffee maker, acing our brew performance test by keeping temperatures in that range for most of the brew cycle. The Hamilton Beach 12-cup Programmable 49465, $25, performs nearly as well for much less.

Do I Need A Coffee Maker

How you brew the water for your drip coffee may affect the flavor of your iced coffee as well. To get the most flavorful drip coffee, your water should be brewed between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are using a drip coffee maker it will automatically reach this temperature.;

If you are using a pour-over coffee maker, just bring water to a boil and let it stand for a moment before pouring it over the coffee grounds. You can use single-serve coffee makers to make hot coffee for your iced coffee if that is all you have.;

However, single-serve coffee makers make weaker flavored coffee. Drip coffee makers give the water enough time to heat up to the proper temperature. They brew coffee using water at lower temperatures than is needed to properly flavor coffee. If you want to make the perfect iced coffee at home, brew a full batch of coffee using a drip coffee maker.

Make It In Big Batches

How to make the BEST iced coffee | Iced coffee at home

When we test small or single-serve coffee makers, we rarely find they reach the optimal temperature for brewing, says Lui. That makes them a poor choice for iced coffee. Instead, save a single-serve machine for brewing an individual cup in a hurry and use a drip coffee maker for a full batch. Since brewing a full batch of coffee gives the coffee maker time to heat water thoroughly, a good drip machine will reach the temperature and brew at the right temperature for most of the cycle, says Lui.

Making The Iced Vanilla Latte

Vanilla lattes are so easy to make and you dont need to splurge on an expensive vanilla bean to get good flavour with this syrup. Like the rest of the syrups here, the formula is pretty straightforward. Make a plain simple syrup by mixing boiling water and sugar together, then add in your flavouring of choice.

For this vanilla latte, I used plain old artificial vanilla extract but you could use the more expensive pure extract or opt for the vanilla bean if you can find them. But really, the vanilla latte is the easiest of all to make. Like the machiatto, start with an empty cup full of ice. Brew two espresso shots and pour them over the ice, then stir in 1 cup of milk and add vanilla syrup to your taste. Yum!

Tips For Adding Sweeteners To Iced Coffee

When it comes to sweetening your iced coffee, you have several options. You can add sugar to your hot coffee before you pour it over ice. You can also add any kind of syrup or sweetener after you pour your hot coffee and milk over ice.;

You can also make simple syrup to add to your iced coffee! It is super easy. Just combine one cup of water and one cup of sugar in a saucepan. Place it over medium heat and stir until all of the sugar dissolves. Then turn off the burner and remove the saucepan from the heat.;

Now you can add any flavoring you like such as vanilla extract. Then you should allow the syrup to cool completely before storing it in a tightly sealed container. Simple syrup can be stored in your refrigerator for up to one month.;

As a rule add sugars to hot coffee before cooling to allow it to dissolve, or use syrups if you are adding sweeteners to already cooled coffee.

Adding non-dairy milk to your iced coffee can add more flavor than dairy milk, especially if the hot coffee you use has a bitter taste. Non-dairy milk can give your iced coffee a sweet taste without having to add sugar or other sweeteners.
