Lelit Bianca Flow Profiling Paddle
The Profitec Pro 800 isnt the only machine that offers users a unique brewing experience. Thanks to its flow profiling paddle, the Lelit Bianca also does the same.
You can move the paddle while brewing a shot of espresso to control the flow of water. As water pressure is one of the greatest influencing factors on flavor, this puts more control over the result into your hands.
Coffee Is A Kind Of Magic You Can Drink
We would love to share our passion for great coffee with you. For this reason, we endeavor to bridge the gap between tried and true professional technology and state-of-the-art engineering. We have designed our semi-automatic espresso machines to be both functional and user-friendly, in order to provide the home barista with a singular espresso experience.
The E61 brew group, developed by Faema Co., is a part of this tried and true technology. Please read more about this in section Technology. State-of-the-art developments such as No-burn steam/hot water wands and, depending on the model, PID-control are included with our machines.
A Full Review Of The Profitec Pro 800

Lelit Bianca Vs Profitec Pro : Which Is Right For You
Are you trying to decide between the Lelit Bianca and Profitec Pro 800? At a glance, these machines have both a lot in common and much thats different between them. It can be hard to determine which one is really better for you without taking an in-depth and understandable look at their features.
Thats what were here to do in this post. Well be comparing these two distinctive espresso machines on multiple different levels, so you understand what youre getting with either one.
This is what you will learn about them both:
- Features shared by them and what these features mean.
- Which features are specific to either machine in this comparison.
- Information regarding prices.
- Our quick advice on choosing between them.
Lets take a closer look
Heat Exchange Vs Dual Boilers
The boiler design used by the Lelit Bianca and the Profitec Pro 800 also differs immensely. Because this will have a huge impact on your daily use of the machines, we feel its vital to touch on this topic.
There are two boilers inside the Lelit Bianca. One boiler is for frothing milk and the other is for brewing espresso.
This allows for simultaneous steaming and brewing, so milk-based drinks like lattes can be created quickly. Dual boiler designs can be more expensive and take longer to heat up initially, but they have the benefit of providing a lot of steam power.
The Profitec Pro 800 has a single heat exchange boiler. This doesnt mean that it cant brew and steam at the same time like the Lelit Bianca can. In fact, it has no problem with this, thanks to a copper tube running through the boiler that delivers brewing water to the group.
Heat exchange boilers are oftentimes more affordable than dual boilers and theyre more energy-efficient since they dont have to keep two boilers up to temperature. The drawback is that, depending on the size of the boiler in question, the machine may not offer the same amount of steam power as a dual boiler machine.

Rotary Vs Vibratory Pump
Getting past their superficial differences, lets take a look at the actual hardware of these espresso machines. One major difference between them is their pumps.
The Lelit Bianca has a rotary pump. Rotary pumps are prized because they are quiet and long-lived. While not totally silent, it will not be as loud as other espresso machines youve likely experienced before.
Within the Profitec Pro 800, youll find a vibratory pump. Vibratory pumps are louder than rotary ones, but they are still not without their own merits. For instance, they tend to be less expensive than rotary pumps, and they also take up less space.
Features And Benefits: Frothing And Hot Water
Spring Loaded Steam and Water Valves
The steam and hot water valves are both spring loaded, preventing you from having to rotate the knobs numerous times to open or close them, which in turn reduces wear and tear.
Monitored Reservoir and Direct Plumb Option
Depending on the availability of a water line, the Pro 800 can be plumbed directly into your water line or draw water from the 3 liter water reservoir. To prevent the boiler from running dry, the machine is fitted with a microprocessor that controls volume in the water reservoir and the boiler. The machine will automatically alert you if it needs to be refilled.
Insulated Steam and Hot Water Wands
To help prevent accidental burns, both the steam and hot water wands have been insulated to keep them from getting too hot too quickly.

Features And Benefits: Brewing
High Capacity Copper Boiler
Brew water is supplied by the Pro 800’s absolutely massive 3.5 liter copper boiler for near endless water while pulling shots. Copper is known for its superior heat retention and is an ideal choice for boiler material.
Boiler Pressure Gauge
As a lever style espresso machine, the Pro 800 has only a single gauge on the bottom right of the machine to monitor pressure inside of the boiler.
Concealed PID Temperature Controller
To help preserve its elegant simplicity as a lever group machine, the Pro 800’s PID is hidden behind the drip tray, underneath the boiler pressure gauge. With the PID you can monitor the temperature inside of the boiler and adjust brew temperatures to satisfy your extraction parameters.
Manual Lever Brewing
Brew pressure is generated manually with the hand lever. When the lever is engaged, the boiler begins filling the group head with water from the boiler for light pre-infusion of your coffee. To begin extraction, simply raise the lever back up.

- Fully upright when idle
- Midway for initial flow / prewetting
- Fully down for preinfusion at boiler pressure
NOTE: Keep a firm grip on the lever! Never allow the lever to return to its upright position on its own if there is no portafilter/coffee offering resistance. If there is no portafilter/coffee to provide resistance and you simply let go, the lever will violently return to its start position!PULLING A DOUBLE ESPRESSO
- Dose 16 to 18 grams,
- Engage the portafilter firmly, pull the lever smoothly to the detent at the bottom
- Preinfusion total time varies by barista preference I allow 6 seconds
- Slowly return the lever towards the start position it will slow and then stop due to the coffee puck’s resistance
- If using a bottomless portafilter, beads should form around the 10 second mark
- Espresso will continue to flow to the volume of a full double plus a few milliliters. Pull the cup away if stream blonds completely.

Cleaning And Maintenance 35/5
Compared to an appliance-grade espresso machine, caring for a prosumer espresso machine takes a bit more work. Then again, they also last much, much longer. So your work is well justified.
As Ive said, the Pro 800 is remarkably well built. So while day-to-day cleaning is a must, maintenance over the machines lifetime should be pretty minimal. And what maintenance is required will be relatively easy and inexpensive.
In regards to cleaning, its the same as with any high-end machine. Dont worry the lever doesnt add any extra work.
Keep the outside surface looking its shiny best by giving it a quick wipe down with a microfibre cloth each day. Keep the inside tidy by backflushing regularly with water and less regularly with cleaning solution. And of course, always use filtered water in your espresso machine to avoid the build-up of scale and to have the best-tasting espresso!
Please note that the single boiler dipper system is better than comparable dual boilers when it comes to maintenance. In a typical steam boiler, water only leaves the boiler as steam. The steam leaves behind any solid materials, causing the boiler to need regular descaling. On the other hand, with the single brew boiler system here, the water in the boiler is constantly refreshed, so the build-up of minerals is far less.

Profitec Pro 800 Overview
For those who admire the charm of old world espresso, the Profitec Pro 800 is a powerful lever-operated machine with all the advantages of modern technology. Ever since we first received it, the Pro 800 has been a permanent fixture in our office, towering above the kitchen counter and pulling shot after shot. Its seen a lot of use here. We all agree the lever is incredibly satisfying to pull, but the extra level of control over our espresso is what keeps us coming back. For a few moments every morning, we get to be old-time baristas.
Brewing With A Lever Machine
- Once your PID displays the set temperature you are ready to begin brewing.
- It is important to note again, the grouphead contains a powerful spring, keep a firm hold on the lever to avoid injury or damage to the machine.
- You will “pull” a shot by bringing the lever into a downward facing position, firmly holding it the entire way down. Hold in the down position for 2-4 seconds.
- You will firmly guide the lever back into its upright position only releasing once it is almost in a fully upright position.
- Bringing the lever down fills the group chamber with water from your boiler, the temperature is maintained by the physical properties of the flow of water into the group and materials of the grouphead itself.
- The 2-4 seconds in the lower position will determine the amount of water that fills the group chamber and ultimately the total volume of water that will flow through the entire shot.
- The action of the spring as the lever moves back into the upright then into its resting position produces the ideal 9-10 bars pressure for brewing.

Profitec Pro 800 Espresso Machine Overview
With a heavy-duty lever machine, espresso becomes more art than science. The feeling of pulling a lever is timeless, and watching the first drops of espresso fall silently into your cup transports you back to an era of traditional espresso. With this in mind, Profitec combined its decades of espresso design and manufacturing experience to create the Pro 800.
The machines lever and large brass group head share the same technology and design as found in Italian cafes, invoking the romantic history of espresso made without the noise of pumps or the distraction of electronics.
The Profitec Pro 800 combines show-stopping looks with a tank-like build quality, for an intimate user experience that will brighten your mornings for years to come. A mirror polished stainless steel case, tasteful steam pressure gauge, inconspicuous PID control, and a metal on-off switch all ensure minimal distraction within the Pro 800, and that nothing diminish a pure espresso experience. For those who want to elevate their experience to the next level, plumbing in the machine will disable the pump, enabling near silent operation when pulling a shot. Profitec also includes a single spout, double spout, and bottomless portafilters, adding improved flexibility.
If you want traditional, manual Italian espresso experience that harkens back to another era, the Profitec Pro 800 may be what youve been looking for.
Profitec Pro 800 Lever Controls
Manual lever-operated espresso machines arent just relics of the past. These days, especially skilled baristas who want to truly challenge themselves can still find lever machines out there.
The Profitec Pro 800 is an example of a lever-operated machine. To pull a shot of espresso, you must pull the lever down and hold it to generate pressure.
Frankly, these types of machines are tricky to use. However, once you get the hang of it, pulling a shot of espresso becomes a much more hands-on experience. It also looks more impressive than just pushing a button or flicking a switch.
