Stream Using Your Xbox Or Playstation
While many streamers choose to start streaming with a laptop or computer, the good news is that for most gamers, you have everything you need to start streaming already in your living room. If youâve got a current-gen PlayStation or Xbox, you can be live on Twitch in just a few simple steps.
1. Create a Twitch account from a mobile device or computer. We recommend downloading Twitch on your iOS or Android phone to adjust your stream settings on the fly, which is easy to do with your Stream Manager in the app. Also, donât forget to turn on Two-Factor Authentication to keep your account safe.
2. Download the Twitch Xbox app from the Microsoft Store. Note: you donât need the PlayStation app in order to broadcast from your PlayStation.
3. Personalize your channel by adding elements that reflect your personal brand to set yourself apart. This will help viewers know who you are when they discover your page! You can modify your profile photo and bio on mobile, or customize a number of additional settings via a web browser. Weâve set up an entire Creator Camp page on Personal Branding to show you all of the places you can customize your channel page to reflect you and your brand.
5. The quality of your audio is critical in helping you connect with viewers. There are a few great, affordable headsets with built-in microphone settings, like the Turtle Beach Recon 200, which work for all consoles and PC, that ensure great audio for your stream.

Impact On The Video Game Industry
Live streaming has brought attention to previously obscure video games such as Rocket League, Fall Guys, and Among Us. Rocket League, a vehicular soccer game developed by Psyonix, sold over 5 million copies after becoming one of the top 5 most-watched games on Twitch when it released in July 2015. The game eventually accumulated over 12 million players and earned itself a Twitch Rocket League Championship Series. In September 2020, Rocket League abandoned its traditional pricing scheme and became free-to-play.
This form of live streaming has become a popular form of advertising for video game developers, surpassing traditional mediums such as online magazines and traditional demos. Potential consumers are able to experience newly-released video games without having to purchase them. Major multiplayer titles benefit from this free advertising, but more linear point-and-click titles, such as those from the now defunct Telltale Games, can suffer if the people watching the gameplay are satisfied without making a purchase.
Older titles, such as Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, have seen renewed popularity due to speedruns, or rapid completions, facilitated by live streaming. This has been a key component in diversifying live streaming audiences.
Best For Prolific Mobile Broadcasters
- Broadcast to multiple sites simultaneously
- Mobile and desktop broadcasting
- Virtually nonexistent standalone streaming experience for viewers
- No direct audience support
Why simply play a video game by yourself when you can play it to an audience? You’ve got nothing better to do while locked up in your apartment. With video game live streaming services, you can turn your hobby into an interactive performance that others can enjoy. If you become popular enough, you may even earn a living from your shows. But don’t worry if you’re camera shy, these same services provide plenty of great ways to watch video game live streams, too. Live streaming is arguably the biggest thing happening in the gaming world right now, so there’s no better time to get on board. However, with several options to choose from, which service should you pledge allegiance to? Streaming via Twitch is a popular choice, but there are other worthwhile services.

Do I Need Two Monitors To Stream
Most popular streamers or anyone who takes the job seriously will tell you that its a requirement to have two monitors to be able to communicate with your fans while you play games. This will allow you to converse with the people watching your stream while being able to focus and play your game at the same time.
Making Money On Caffeine
A live streaming service cant just poach celebrities to stay relevant. A strong, organic community of broadcasters is the bedrock of these platforms. Those broadcasters, like everyone else, need financial support to do what they do. You wont go broke broadcasting on Caffeine, but you may want to hold off on making it your primary online home.
Caffeine has a partner program for popular channels with perks like swag, access to other partners, experimental features, and invites to exclusive events. Partners also get paid for hitting certain milestones. Before becoming a full-on partner, you can first grow your audience by becoming a Caffeine Caster and get your channel highlighted on the homepage. But you dont need to be a partner to get paid. Viewers can spend money on gold to buy items to send to broadcasters in the chat. These items earn credit that broadcasters then trade in for real cash.

The live streaming of video games is an activity where people broadcast themselves playing games to a live audience online. The practice became popular in the mid-2010s on the US-based site Twitch, before growing to , , China-based sites Huya Live, DouYu, and Bilibili, and other services. By 2014, Twitch streams had more traffic than HBO’s online streaming service, HBO Go. Professional streamers often combine high-level play and entertaining commentary, and earn income from sponsors, subscriptions, ad revenue, and donations.
Both AAA and indie developers have circumvented rising development costs by utilizing the free advertising live streaming provides. Independent titles such as Fall Guys, Rocket League, and Among Us are examples of games that have experienced a huge increase in player base as a result of streaming. Esports have also gained significant traction and attention from the accessibility of live streaming, and streaming has even been used as a method to raise awareness of social issues and money for charity.

Best Game Streaming Services To Use As Twitch Alternatives
Twitch is the most popular platform to watch people play video games and learn the gameplay. The streaming service specializes in airing real-time gaming alongside other types of content. Millions of gamers from around the world use Twitch. This makes it arguably the best game streaming service today. It even allows gamers to generate revenue from sponsorships and donations. However, it is not the only one in the category.
Here are some of the top game streaming services that you can use as Twitch alternatives. So pick the one that suits your needs in the best way.
Getting Started With Caffeine
You can create a Caffeine account for free on your desktop or your mobile device. If you want to broadcast youll have to stick to your computer. Unlike Facebook Gaming, Mobcrush, or Twitch, Caffeine doesnt offer mobile broadcasting. The app is just for viewing and chatting.
Fortunately, Caffeine is one of the rare live streaming services to offer its own streaming software, as opposed to making users download a third-party solution. Caffeines desktop streaming app isnt entirely original its based on the popular OBS software. The Twitch Studio beta seems more custom-built. Also, Caffeines app is only compatible with about 900 PC games as of this writing. But that number represents a solid mix of big hits and indie gems . I was happy to see Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, which, full disclosure, is a game I personally contributed to. The most notable absence may be Minecraft, perhaps because Microsoft offers its own streaming service with Mixer.
Still, anything that streamlines whats usually the trickiest part of broadcasting is great for encouraging novice potential users. The process is even easier if you dont want to stream a game. With the press of a button, you can broadcast whatever real life action your webcam picks up. It even snaps a picture to use as your thumbnail.
